How can I access subscriber-only content?

If you are a print or online subscriber to the London Review of Books, you must activate your online account to access subscriber-only content. If you subscribed online you should have received an automatic email containing details of how to activate your subscription. If you took out a subscription with a postal form and you have started receiving issues you can activate your account with your ten-digit customer number, which can be found above your name on the carrier sheet of your issues. Once you have activated your account we will email you a link so that you can set up a password. If you have already activated your account then log in to access subscriber-only content. If you are not a subscriber, subscribe now for immediate online access. Our Subscriptions team will be happy to assist with any problems you have accessing subscriber-only content.

I have paid for my subscription, how long will it take before I receive my first copy?

How do I renew my subscription?

You can renew online using the code printed on your renewal letter, or through the link in any renewal email you may have received. If you prefer to renew by post please send us your completed renewal form and payment in the return envelope provided. How can I check the status of my subscription?

What should I do if an issue is delivered damaged or I do not receive an issue on time?

No, to access subscriber-only content you need to have an active subscription.

Payments

What types of payment and currencies do you accept?

We accept all major credit and debit cards: Visa, Mastercard and American Express. For overseas orders, the price you pay will be dependent on the exchange rate offered by your credit card company. We accept postal orders denominated in pound sterling or cheques denominated in pound sterling and drawn from a UK bank. We also accept payments by bank transfer. How secure are my credit card details if I subscribe online?

All the information you provide is encrypted (scrambled) using the industry standard SSL (Secure Socket Layer) technology so that when you submit the order from the online form, nothing can be read as it travels down the secure line. Your details are then entered into our secure subscriptions system, which is hosted separately from our website.

How do I request a receipt?

Can I use a London Review Bookshop voucher as payment for my subscription?

No, this is a promotional offer valid only at the bookshop.

How do auto-renewing subscriptions work?

Auto-renewing subscriptions are an easy and convenient way to ensure you continue to receive the London Review of Books without interruption. An initial payment is taken at the time of purchase, as detailed in the checkout process. If you have selected an auto-renewing offer, your subscription will then be automatically renewed on a quarterly basis. If you do not select an auto-renewing offer, you will receive renewal reminders towards the end of the subscription term.

How can I cancel an auto-renewing subscription?

If I pay by Direct Debit, how can I cancel my subscription?

If you pay for your subscription by Direct Debit you are automatically protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee. To cancel your Direct Debit at any time please email the Subscriptions team, call them on +44 (0)1604 828700, or contact your bank.

Renewals

How do I renew my subscription?

Subscribers can either return their renewal form with payment in the reply envelope provided, or renew online using the URL provided on their printed renewal form or any renewal reminder email.

Where can I find the URL I need to use to renew?

On a printed renewal form your URL will be above your customer number and delivery address in the coloured strip. If you have received a renewal reminder by email you will simply need to click on any of the RENEW NOW buttons in the body of the email.

What should I do if I can’t log in?

If you have not yet activated your online account you’ll need to use your customer number to activate your account on our website first. If you have already activated your account but you still can’t log in, try resetting your password.

I have forgotten my email/password for the LRB website.

Use our password reminder service. We will send you a link (valid for 24 hours) that you can use to update your details. If you’re still unable to log in please contact our Customer Services team.

Why can’t I change my address when I renew?

Your renewal price is based on your current subscription. This means we cannot process address changes at the same time as a renewal. If you need to change your address and renew your subscription at the same time please contact the Customer Services team.

Gift Subscriptions

How can I nominate a friend for a free gift subscription?

You can nominate a friend online using the link supplied on the nomination form we will send you. Alternatively, please complete the nomination form and send it back using the reply envelope provided. Otherwise, email our Subscriptions team or call them on +44 (0)1604 828700 with the name and address details of your nominee.

Is there a deadline for nominating a friend for a free gift subscription?

No, but as this is a benefit of subscribing, we recommend that you nominate your chosen recipient as soon as possible.

Can I nominate a friend who lives in another country?

Yes, we will send the gift subscription wherever you want it to go, worldwide. Please note that nominations from US/Canada subscribers to territories outside of North America may take longer to process.

I nominated a friend for a free gift subscription but they have not yet received an issue.

Once you have nominated a friend for a free gift subscription, we will send them a letter informing them of their free gift. Once we receive their signed acceptance form, or they accept online, we are able to start sending them issues. You may need to encourage your friend to return the signed acceptance form or to accept the gift online. If they require another form or help accepting online please email our Subscriptions team or call them on: +44 (0)1604 828700.

Why are USA/Canada subscription rates so low compared with the UK, Europe and the rest of the world?

This is because all our USA/Canada subscriptions are managed by our North American fulfilment agency, and the costs of printing and postal services in the US are hugely competitive.

What is your cancellation/refund policy?

Where can I buy a copy of the latest issue from a newsstand?

Distribution of the LRB is based on a subscription model. However, if you would like to buy newsstand copies please email our Customer Services team or call them on +44 (0)1604 828700 and they will try and locate your nearest outlet.
