In this VLOG I explore Jellybean Row and Signal Hill while visiting St. John’s, Newfoundland in the summertime.
St. John's is the eastern most city in North America and it is one of the earliest European settlements dating back to the 16th century. Signal Hill is aptly named due to the first wireless, transatlantic signal that was received there.

Recognize anybody? This 1967 film shows downtown St. John's when fishermen from the Portuguese White Fleet played soccer on the harbour apron and CN Coastal boats sailed out of the Narrows. Narrated by former mayor Harry Mews, the film visits the brand new buildings of the MUN campus and the housing development of Churchill Park. You can also and travel down the train line that ran through the city and visit the Regattta.

We just recently revisited St. John a few months ago and decide to take our camera gear to capture the beautiful backdrop that makes this island so special to us. We had a lot of fun shooting this and hope you enjoy our little slice of heaven.
Only 1/10th on the footage we shot made it into this video. Wish we could make a 12 minute version, but no one would be interested in something like that right? :-)
This video was filmed and edited at 4K (4096x2304) resolution, four times greater than regular 1080p HD. All 4K file are available upon request. Shot on Red Epic and Canon RAW still cameras.

In this VLOG I explore Jellybean Row and Signal Hill while visiting St. John’s, Newfoundland in the summertime.
St. John's is the eastern most city in North America and it is one of the earliest European settlements dating back to the 16th century. Signal Hill is aptly named due to the first wireless, transatlantic signal that was received there.

We just recently revisited St. John a few months ago and decide to take our camera gear to capture the beautiful backdrop that makes this island so special to us. We had a lot of fun shooting this and hope you enjoy our little slice of heaven.
Only 1/10th on the footage we shot made it into this video. Wish we could make a 12 minute version, but no one would be interested in something like that right? :-)
This video was filmed and edited at 4K (4096x2304) resolution, four times greater than regular 1080p HD. All 4K file are available upon request. Shot on Red Epic and Canon RAW still cameras.

We just recently revisited St. John a few months ago and decide to take our camera gear to capture the beautiful backdrop that makes this island so special to us. We had a lot of fun shooting this and hope you enjoy our little slice of heaven.
Only 1/10th on the footage we shot made it into this video. Wish we could make a 12 minute version, but no one would be interested in something like that right? :-)

The intro is comprised of vintage footage of the Avalon Mall from the 80s and 90s, the song by Wonderful Grand Band "Babylon Mall" in the very beginning, and the song used for the intro is MAITRO - SNAKE WAY 蛇の道 Anyway this is my video tour of St. John's most popular shopping mall, and second largest mall in Atlantic Canada with the largest food court in Atlantic Canada. Hope you enjoy! If you know about some previous store locations and changes in the mall, please comment below with the time of the video so I know which part of the mall you are talking about. The St John Passion (in German: Johannes-Passion), BWV 245, is a sacred oratorio of Johann Sebastian Bach. The original Latin title: Passio Secundum Johannem translates to "The Suffering According to John" and is rendered in English also as St. John Passion and in German as Johannespassion. During the first winter that Bach was responsible for church music at the St. Thomas Church, Leipzig and the St. Nicholas Church, he composed the St John Passion for the Good Friday Vespers service of 1724. The St John Passion (in German: Johannes-Passion), BWV 245, is a sacred oratorio of Johann Sebastian Bach. The original Latin title: Passio Secundum Johannem translates to "The Suffering According to John" and is rendered in English also as St. John Passion and in German as Johannespassion. During the first winter that Bach was responsible for church music at the St. Thomas Church, Leipzig and the St. Nicholas Church, he composed the St John Passion for the Good Friday Vespers service of 1724.
The St John Passion is a dramatic representation of the Passion, as told in the Gospel of John, constructed of dramatically presented recitatives and choruses, commented by reflective chorales, ariosos, and arias, framed by an opening chorus and a final one, followed by a last chorale. Compared to the St Matthew Passion, the St John Passion has been described as more extravagant, with an expressive immediacy, at times more unbridled and less "finished."
Originally Bach intended that the St. John Passion would be first performed in the St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, but due to a last-minute change by the music council, it was first performed in 1724 in the St. Nicholas Church. Bach quickly agreed to their desire to move the service to St Nicholas Church, "but pointed out that the booklet was already printed, that there was no room available and that the harpsichord needed some repair, all of which, however, could be attended to at little cost; but he requested that a little additional room be provided in the choir loft of St Nicholas Church, where he planned to place the musicians needed to perform the music. He also asked that the harpsichord be repaired." The council agreed and sent a flyer announcing the new location to all the people around Leipzig. The council made the arrangements requested by Bach regarding the harpsichord and space needed for the choir.
