Roja (English: Rose) is a 1992 Indian Tamil-language musical romantic thriller film written and directed by Mani Ratnam. It stars Arvind Swamy and Madhoo in the lead roles. The film was also dubbed in Hindi, Marathi, Malayalam and Telugu languages.
The film won three National Film Awards, including Best Film on National Integration, catapulting Ratnam to national acclaim. The film also gained international acclaim with its nomination for Best Film at the 18th Moscow International Film Festival. The film was later re-released for international audiences in light of the growing fear of terrorist attacks across the world. It is the first in Ratnam's trilogy of films that depict human relationships against a background of Indian politics, including Bombay (1995) and Dil Se.. (1998).
The soundtrack of the film by Academy Award winner A. R. Rahman is hailed as a masterpiece. He debuted as a film composer with this film. He won the National Film Award for Best Music Direction, Filmfare Award for Best Music Director - Tamil and the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Music Director for his work. This soundtrack is among the "10 Best Soundtracks" of all time listed by TIME magazine, issued in 2005.
Plot:
In Srinagar, a Kashmiri terrorist, Wasim Khan (Shiva Rindani), is captured by a team led by Colonel Rayappa (Nassar). In South India, 18-year old[2] Roja (Madhoo) is a simple village girl born and brought up in Sundarapandiapuram in Tirunelveli district in southern Tamil Nadu. Roja fervently wishes that her sister Shenbagam's (Vaishnavi) marriage proposal with Rishi Kumar (Arvind Swamy), a cryptologist working with the R.A.W. of India, goes smoothly. Unknown to her and her family, Shenbagam is in love with the son of her paternal aunt.
When Rishi wishes to speak to Shenbagam alone, she gathers enough courage to convey this and politely asks him to reject her in front of her parents, to which he obliges. To everyone’s surprise Rishi requests Roja's hand in marriage instead. Being unaware of Shenbagam's love affair, Roja is not willing to accept Rishi's proposal as she believes that he is the best match for Shenbagam but she marries Rishi, and the couple go to live in Madras while Shenbagam marries her cousin.
Initially Roja does not like what Rishi did, but when she learns of Shenbagam's love affair and consequent rejection of Rishi, she apologizes and starts seeing him in a new light. Love blossoms, and life is blissful for the couple for a short while. Meanwhile, due to the illness of his Chief, Rishi is assigned to an army communications center in Baramulla to intercept military intelligence. The couple find themselves in a beautiful yet alien land. Roja's world turns upside down when Rishi is abducted by terrorists whose agenda is to separate Kashmir from India and free their leader, Wasim Khan, from judicial custody.
Faced with the daunting task of rescuing her husband, Roja runs from pillar to post, pleading with politicians and the military for help. Further complicating matters is the communication gap: She can't speak their language, and they can't speak hers. Meanwhile, Rishi, held captive by a group of terrorists led by Liaqat (Pankaj Kapoor), an associate to Wasim Khan, tries to reason with the terrorists, about their misdirected motive for the liberation of Kashmir. Liaqat's sister shows a little compassion towards him. Initially, when Roja’s efforts fail, the Indian government denies any negotiations with the terrorists for the release of Rishi in the media.
The angered terrorists attempt to burn an Indian flag. Rishi risks his life to put out the fire and shows the terrorist how much the country means to him, a regular citizen. When Liaqat’s younger brother, who with a few other youths from his village sent across the border to Pakistan for training, is shot by the Pakistan Army, Liaqat’s strong belief is shaken, but he still manages to convince himself of the cause. Consequently, Roja’s efforts to apprise the politicians of her suffering and pain are successful as a minister pities her and offers to help.
Much to the chagrin of Rayappa, the government decides to release Wasim Khan in exchange for Rishi. Rishi, not wanting to be used as a pawn to release a dangerous terrorist, gets help from the sympathetic Liaqat’s sister and escapes — with Liaqat and his men chasing him. Rayappa, Roja and other army officers get to the hostage exchange spot with Wasim Khan, but Liaqat does not show up. The Army locks Wasim Khan up in the prison.
Rishi has managed to get close to the exchange spot on his own after evading the terrorists. During his escape, Rishi kills two terrorists. Liaqat catches up with him and holds him at gun point. Rishi reasons with Liaqat further and convinces him that his war is immoral. Liaqat lets Rishi go and he goes to the exchange spot. Liaqat escapes from the Indian Army. Rishi and Roja are united once again.

Indian film composer extraordinaire A. R. Rahman, who wrote the Oscar®-winning score for Slumdog Millionaire along with Blue (which has its World Premire at MEIFF) appeared along with American composer Richard Horowitz (Any Given Sunday) and Iranian-American singer Sussan Deyhim (The Last Temptation of Christ) for a conversation onstage. With many years of experience in scoring films between them, they will discuss their inspiration and creative methods. All three have based their film scores and other work on boldly combining forms from different cultures (including that of the Middle East), and this mutual appreciation and pursuit of all music, whether eastern, western, popular, or classical, will inform the conversation. In the words of Horowitz, Rahman has been "broadcasting a message of crosss-cultural understanding, love, and peace to millions of people." Horowitz, who has explored the connection between Middle Eastern and Indian music and the sonic components of cosmic events, has also prepared a series of questions for Rahman about the timeless value of music in understanding not only our world, but the universe. A. R. Rahman is rapidly becoming known as one of the world's great composers. An acknowledged master of the Indian movie soundtrack, he has nevertheless created music in many genres, traditions, and languages. His music incorporates the classical and folk styles of many cultures, western rock and pop, Sufism, and electronic music - combining forms with a bold experimentalism while preserving mass appeal. He is especially beloved in India for his successes in both the Bollywood and Tamil film industries. Nicknamed Isai Puyul, "The Musical Storm," Rahman has scored over 100 films since his 1992 debut Roja (Mani Ratnam) won the award for best music at the Indian National Film Awards. His many other hit soundtracks include Bombay (Ratnam, 1994), Lagaan (Ashutosh Gowariker, 2001), and Deepa Mehta's "Elements Trilogy." Rahman has sold over 200 million recordings worldwide. He has had a number of collaborations with western filmmakers and composers (including Andrew Lloyd Weber), but Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire (2008) brought him two Oscars® and greatly expanded his fame. This year Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Composer and musician Richard Horowitz lived in Paris and Morocco for 12 years, studying Middle Eastern flute and music theory. His film soundtracks include The Sheltering Sky (Bernardo Bertolucci, 1990) and Three Seasons (Tony Bui, 1999). Composer, vocalist, and performance artist Sussan Deyhim studied dance in her native Iran, and Europe, before moving to New York and incorporating music, new vocal languages, and film into her performances. She has appeared on soundtracks including The Last Temptation of Christ (Martin Scorsese, 1988) and The Stoning of Soraya M (Cyrus Nowrasteh, 2008). The two have collaborated on recordings since 1981, including the score for Any Given Sunday (Oliver Stone, 1999) and Tobruk (Vaclav Marhoul, 2008), which won them the Golden Lion from the Czech Academy of Film.

Plot: Roja, a young woman born and brought up in Southern India, prays that the handsome young man coming to see her sister will be her future brother-in-law, only to have the tables turned on her when he openly choses her over her sister (as her sister loves another). So Roja marries Rishi and they leave the village to settle in the city, where both fall in love. Then her innocent world is shattered when Rishi is abducted and held for ransom by a group of jihadist militants who want an independent Kashmir and the release of a terrorist held by the Indian military forces. Will the passionate appeal of this young woman move cold and ruthless military and politician's hearts and minds? Plot:
In Srinagar, a Kashmiri terrorist, Wasim Khan (Shiva Rindani), is captured by a team led by Colonel Rayappa (Nassar). In South India, 18-year old[2] Roja (Madhoo) is a simple village girl born and brought up in Sundarapandiapuram in Tirunelveli district in southern Tamil Nadu. Roja fervently wishes that her sister Shenbagam's (Vaishnavi) marriage proposal with Rishi Kumar (Arvind Swamy), a cryptologist working with the R.A.W. of India, goes smoothly. Unknown to her and her family, Shenbagam is in love with the son of her paternal aunt.
When Rishi wishes to speak to Shenbagam alone, she gathers enough courage to convey this and politely asks him to reject her in front of her parents, to which he obliges. To everyone’s surprise Rishi requests Roja's hand in marriage instead. Being unaware of Shenbagam's love affair, Roja is not willing to accept Rishi's proposal as she believes that he is the best match for Shenbagam but she marries Rishi, and the couple go to live in Madras while Shenbagam marries her cousin.
Initially Roja does not like what Rishi did, but when she learns of Shenbagam's love affair and consequent rejection of Rishi, she apologizes and starts seeing him in a new light. Love blossoms, and life is blissful for the couple for a short while. Meanwhile, due to the illness of his Chief, Rishi is assigned to an army communications center in Baramulla to intercept military intelligence. The couple find themselves in a beautiful yet alien land. Roja's world turns upside down when Rishi is abducted by terrorists whose agenda is to separate Kashmir from India and free their leader, Wasim Khan, from judicial custody.
Faced with the daunting task of rescuing her husband, Roja runs from pillar to post, pleading with politicians and the military for help. Further complicating matters is the communication gap: She can't speak their language, and they can't speak hers. Meanwhile, Rishi, held captive by a group of terrorists led by Liaqat (Pankaj Kapoor), an associate to Wasim Khan, tries to reason with the terrorists, about their misdirected motive for the liberation of Kashmir. Liaqat's sister shows a little compassion towards him. Initially, when Roja’s efforts fail, the Indian government denies any negotiations with the terrorists for the release of Rishi in the media.
The angered terrorists attempt to burn an Indian flag. Rishi risks his life to put out the fire and shows the terrorist how much the country means to him, a regular citizen. When Liaqat’s younger brother, who with a few other youths from his village sent across the border to Pakistan for training, is shot by the Pakistan Army, Liaqat’s strong belief is shaken, but he still manages to convince himself of the cause. Consequently, Roja’s efforts to apprise the politicians of her suffering and pain are successful as a minister pities her and offers to help.
Much to the chagrin of Rayappa, the government decides to release Wasim Khan in exchange for Rishi. Rishi, not wanting to be used as a pawn to release a dangerous terrorist, gets help from the sympathetic Liaqat’s sister and escapes — with Liaqat and his men chasing him. Rayappa, Roja and other army officers get to the hostage exchange spot with Wasim Khan, but Liaqat does not show up. The Army locks Wasim Khan up in the prison.
Rishi has managed to get close to the exchange spot on his own after evading the terrorists. During his escape, Rishi kills two terrorists. Liaqat catches up with him and holds him at gun point. Rishi reasons with Liaqat further and convinces him that his war is immoral. Liaqat lets Rishi go and he goes to the exchange spot. Liaqat escapes from the Indian Army. Indian film composer extraordinaire A. R. Rahman, who wrote the Oscar®-winning score for Slumdog Millionaire along with Blue (which has its World Premire at MEIFF) appeared along with American composer Richard Horowitz (Any Given Sunday) and Iranian-American singer Sussan Deyhim (The Last Temptation of Christ) for a conversation onstage. With many years of experience in scoring films between them, they will discuss their inspiration and creative methods. All three have based their film scores and other work on boldly combining forms from different cultures (including that of the Middle East), and this mutual appreciation and pursuit of all music, whether eastern, western, popular, or classical, will inform the conversation. In the words of Horowitz, Rahman has been "broadcasting a message of crosss-cultural understanding, love, and peace to millions of people." Horowitz, who has explored the connection between Middle Eastern and Indian music and the sonic components of cosmic events, has also prepared a series of questions for Rahman about the timeless value of music in understanding not only our world, but the universe.

HISTORIA DE LA TELEFONÍA EN CUBA
Desde que se realizó la primera transmisión telefónica por Antonio Meucci, Cuba ha navegado como polígono de pruebas para las compañías norteamericanas durante la etapa republicana, y hasta una severa crisis después del derrumbe del campo socialista en Europa.
La primera conversación telefónica en castellano se realiza en La Habana, en octubre de 1877, apenas tan solo 7 meses después de que Alexander Graham Bell le fuera otorgada la patente de su teléfono. Además con los aparatos que se trabajó en La Habana, en1878; en Madrid se iniciaron las investigaciones sobre la comunicación telefónica. En el año 1879, para proseguir con el acelerado desarrollo de las comunicaciones en la Isla, el hombre de negocios Enrique B. Hamel incorpora algunos aparatos telefónicos fabricados por la Tropical American Telephone Company, que permitían establecer una comunicación entre dos de ellos a una distancia máxima de 450 m.
El primer servicio telefónico fue inaugurado en la Habana el 6 de marzo de 1882, después que se fuera subastado durante largo tiempo los derechos a la construcción del mismo. El primer director de esta compañía fue Vesey F. Butler, quien además estableció negocios corporativos con las compañías Edison Telephone Exchange y con la Western Electric Company de Nueva York.
En 1888 a tenor de la declaración por parte del gobierno español de un Decreto para controlar el desarrollo de las comunicaciones telefónicas en Cuba, Filipinas y Puerto Rico; se le otorgan los privilegios de las transmisiones telefónicas a la empresa Red Telefónica de la Habana, S.A., compañía que contaba con el apoyo total de las autoridades españolas. Pero a pesar de estos la compañía solo logro instalar 1500 teléfonos más hasta el año 1899, todos del tipo Blake, llegando a un máximo de 21 millas de líneas telefónicas en toda la Habana. Pero con la ocupación norteamericana de la Isla, el negocio quedo abierto de par en par a las compañías norteamericanas que rápidamente se apoderaron del mismo. En diciembre de 1900 se creó una sociedad anónima (qué posteriormente daría vida a la Havana Telephone Company ), que envió a Cuba ingenieros para comprobar el estado de las redes cubanas y garantizar la expansión hasta dos pueblos situados a 20 km de la ciudad: San Francisco de Paula al este y Punta Brava al oeste . Durante el periodo de La Segunda Ocupación Norteamericana (1906-1909) se sentaron las bases que permitieron a los inversionistas norteamericanos, siendo concedido los derechos de explotación a la Cuban Telephone Company el 18 de julio de 1909]. Como principal acción desplegada por esta compañía esta la de establecer en Cuba por primera vez una central telefónica completamente automática que sustituyo a la que manualmente realizaba todas las conmutaciones en la Isla., además de utilizar por los teléfonos de discado.
Después de la Primera Guerra Mundial y con la gran fusión entre la Cuban Telephone y la American Telephone and Telegraph Company, en la Cuban -American Telephone and Telegraph Company; con el objetivo de crear entre Cuba y Estados Unidos un sistema de líneas telefónicas a larga distancia. En vista de esto y en colaboración con la AT&T; se creó el proyecto de un cable submarino entre La Habana y Cayo Hueso por un coste de 750.000 dólares. Gracias a este proyecto se instalaron tres cables que permitieron la comunicación directa con New York y Jacksonville. Gracias a este mismo cable se logró establecer lo que en su momento fue la línea telefónica más larga del mundo, con 8.800 km entre La Habana y la ciudad de Avalon en California. Este servicio se estableció en base a cables submarinos, terrestres y estaciones de radio enlace. También este cable permitió el inicio de la radiodifusión en Cuba a partir de trasmisiones radiales de música cubana que se hicieron llegar al territorio norteamericano y viceversa, dando como resultado que se formara la Radio Corporation of Cuba en 1922 Durante todo este tiempo estas transformaciones fueron dirigidas por la International Telephone and Telegraph Company (ITT) ; que era dirigida por Sosthenes y Hernad Behn, al adquirir todos los derechos de las transmisiones a las empresas que antes lo realizaban. Además de adueñarse del monopolio de las comunicaciones en Cuba la ITT, utilizando la Isla como trampolín, se lanzo a la conquista de las comunicaciones en España; enlazando de esta forma las comunicaciones entre los dos países. Durante los años siguientes, la ITT expandió su dominio sobre las comunicaciones y utilizo a Cuba como polígono para sus experimentos, debido al poco control al que eran sometidas las centrales telefónicas en la Isla. Sono ormai passati diciassette anni dalla strage di via D'Amelio a Palermo in cui furono uccisi Paolo Borsellino, Emanuela Loi, Agostino Catalano, Vincenzo Li Muli, Claudio Traina e Walter Eddie Cosina, vale a dire il giudice e gli uomini della scorta.
Nonostante la magistratura e le forze dell'ordine abbiano individuato e perseguito numerosi mandanti ed esecutori della strage, rimangono pesanti zone d'ombra sulle entità esterne all'organizzazione criminale Cosa Nostra che con questa hanno deliberato e realizzato la strage stessa.
Per il 19 luglio di quest'anno, una domenica come 17 anni fa, tanti cittadini della società civile insieme alle redazioni di www.19luglio1992.com e di www.ANTIMAFIADuemila.com hanno dato vita, al posto delle solite commemorazioni, ad una manifestazione popolare articolata in una serie di iniziative con lo scopo di chiedere che fosse fatta giustizia e di sostenere tutti i Servitori dello Stato che nel corso di questi anni hanno sempre dato il meglio di sé affinché questo diritto di tutti fosse tradotto in fatti.
La società civile ha voluto così evitare che quest'anno, delle persone che spesso indegnamente occupano le nostre Istituzioni arrivassero in via D'Amelio, come più volte è successo nel passato, a fingere cordoglio ed assicurarsi così che Paolo fosse veramente morto; ha voluto impedire la celebrazione di riti di morte per chi, come Paolo Borsellino e i suoi ragazzi, sono oggi più vivi che mai.
Da tutta Italia sono giunti in tanti, e tutti con una agenda rossa in mano per ricordare i misteri che ancora pesano su Via D'Amelio, i processi che vengono bloccati appena arrivano a toccare gli "intoccabili", i mandanti di quella strage.
Da Via D'Amelio, con quell'agenda in mano, la “marcia delle agende rosse” si è snodata fino al Castello Utveggio, il posto dal quale una mano, che non era la mano di un mafioso ma di chi con la mafia ha stretto un patto scellerato, ha inviato il comando che ha fatto a pezzi Paolo e la sua scorta.
Seventeen years have already gone by since the massacre of D'Amelio Street in Palermo, Italy that killed Paolo Borsellino, Emanuela Loi, Agostino Catalano, Vincenzo Li Muli, Claudio Traina and Walter Eddie Cosina, i.e. the Judge and his five bodyguards.
Many instigators and perpetrators of the massacre have been identified and prosecuted by Judges and Police. However, a heavy shadow is still cast over the entities outside the Criminal Organization Cosa Nostra that cooperated with it in deciding and carrying out the assassination.
This year, July 19 fell on a Sunday just like 17 years ago, and many citizens of the Italian civil society together with the editorial staff of www.19luglio1992.com and www.Antimafiaduemila.com gave life to a unique popular demonstration –not just the usual commemoration. Such demonstration included a series of initiatives aimed at seeking justice and supporting all those Civil Servants who throughout these years have always done their best to turn the universal right to justice into facts.
In this way, our civil society wanted to prevent people who often undeservedly occupy seats in our institutions from coming to D'Amelio Street to pretend sorrow and to make sure that Paolo is really dead –as it happened many times in the past. It also wanted to prevent death rituals from being celebrated for those who, like Paolo Borsellino and his young bodyguards, are today more alive than ever.
From D'Amelio Street holding up red diaries, the “Red Diary March” snaked all the way up to Utveggio Castle, the place from where a hand –which wasn't that of a mafia member but that of someone who made a wicked deal with the mafia– operated the remote control that tore Paolo and his bodyguards into pieces.
Ya pasaron diecisiete años desde el atentado de la calle D’Amelio en Palermo, Italia, en el que fueron asesinados Paolo Borsellino, Emanuela Loi, Agostino Catalano, Vincenzo Li Muli, Claudio Traina y Walter Eddie Cosina, es decir el juez y sus cinco guardaespaldas.
A pesar de que los magistrados y las fuerzas del orden han identificado y perseguido a numerosos instigadores y ejecutores del atentado, quedan todavía muchas zonas oscuras en lo que tiene que ver con las entidades externas a la organización criminal Cosa Nostra que junto con ella han deliberado y llevado a cabo el atentado.

La società civile ha voluto così evitare che quest'anno, delle persone che spesso indegnamente occupano le nostre Istituzioni arrivassero in via D'Amelio, come più volte è successo nel passato, a fingere cordoglio ed assicurarsi così che Paolo fosse veramente morto; ha voluto impedire la celebrazione di riti di morte per chi, come Paolo Borsellino e i suoi ragazzi, sono oggi più vivi che mai.
Da tutta Italia sono giunti in tanti, e tutti con una agenda rossa in mano per ricordare i misteri che ancora pesano su Via D'Amelio, i processi che vengono bloccati appena arrivano a toccare gli "intoccabili", i mandanti di quella strage.
Da Via D'Amelio, con quell'agenda in mano, la “marcia delle agende rosse” si è snodata fino al Castello Utveggio, il posto dal quale una mano, che non era la mano di un mafioso ma di chi con la mafia ha stretto un patto scellerato, ha inviato il comando che ha fatto a pezzi Paolo e la sua scorta.
Seventeen years have already gone by since the massacre of D'Amelio Street in Palermo, Italy that killed Paolo Borsellino, Emanuela Loi, Agostino Catalano, Vincenzo Li Muli, Claudio Traina and Walter Eddie Cosina, i.e. the Judge and his five bodyguards.
Many instigators and perpetrators of the massacre have been identified and prosecuted by Judges and Police. However, a heavy shadow is still cast over the entities outside the Criminal Organization Cosa Nostra that cooperated with it in deciding and carrying out the assassination.
This year, July 19 fell on a Sunday just like 17 years ago, and many citizens of the Italian civil society together with the editorial staff of www.19luglio1992.com and www.Antimafiaduemila.com gave life to a unique popular demonstration –not just the usual commemoration. Such demonstration included a series of initiatives aimed at seeking justice and supporting all those Civil Servants who throughout these years have always done their best to turn the universal right to justice into facts.
In this way, our civil society wanted to prevent people who often undeservedly occupy seats in our institutions from coming to D'Amelio Street to pretend sorrow and to make sure that Paolo is really dead –as it happened many times in the past. It also wanted to prevent death rituals from being celebrated for those who, like Paolo Borsellino and his young bodyguards, are today more alive than ever.
From D'Amelio Street holding up red diaries, the “Red Diary March” snaked all the way up to Utveggio Castle, the place from where a hand –which wasn't that of a mafia member but that of someone who made a wicked deal with the mafia– operated the remote control that tore Paolo and his bodyguards into pieces.
Ya pasaron diecisiete años desde el atentado de la calle D’Amelio en Palermo, Italia, en el que fueron asesinados Paolo Borsellino, Emanuela Loi, Agostino Catalano, Vincenzo Li Muli, Claudio Traina y Walter Eddie Cosina, es decir el juez y sus cinco guardaespaldas.
A pesar de que los magistrados y las fuerzas del orden han identificado y perseguido a numerosos instigadores y ejecutores del atentado, quedan todavía muchas zonas oscuras en lo que tiene que ver con las entidades externas a la organización criminal Cosa Nostra que junto con ella han deliberado y llevado a cabo el atentado.

80 años de Historia y calidad asistencial
El Hospital fue fundado por S.M. la Reina Victoria Eugenia e inaugurado el 31 de enero de 1933.
Los fines que se proponía Cruz Roja por entonces con este edificio fueron (según memoria redactada por el arquitecto autor del proyecto, Juan de Cárdenas):
1. Hospitalización de enfermos pobres, hombres y mujeres, de carácter quirúrgico, en un pabellón que, reuniendo todas las garantías de higiene, seguridad y comodidad, tenga verdadera independencia pero comunicación con la sala de operaciones y sus anejos.
2. Dispensario, para la asistencia gratuita a enfermos pobres, sin hospitalización, completamente independiente del Hospital y del sanatorio.
3. Sanatorio, para la asistencia en enfermedades de carácter quirúrgico, de enfermos más o menos pudientes, los que abonarán por la asistencia y hospedaje la cantidad que acuerde la Asamblea.
Tres áreas asistenciales que inspiran la forma que tiene el edificio al que se le procuró dar un carácter de estilo renacimiento cordobés, para que no desentonara con el sitio en el que estaba enclavado.
En 1953 se inaugura la ampliación del Hospital motivada por la demanda constante de servicios sanitarios y la necesidad de obtener mayores recursos. La reforma consistió en añadir una nueva planta sobre la parte del edificio destinada a sanatorio para ampliar las habitaciones disponibles y el proyecto lo dirigió el arquitecto Carlos Sáenz de Santamaría, por entonces vocal de la Asamblea Provincial.
En 1962 se estudió la segunda ampliación del Hospital y en 1966, el arquitecto Sáenz de Santamaría entregó el proyecto que comprendía la demolición de una parte del cuerpo central del edificio para su ampliación a la calle posterior y la construcción de tres plantas.
La remodelación del Hospital se plantearía en 1983 sobre la base de un proyecto que contemplaba la demolición de una parte importante del inmueble para construirla de nuevo, respetando el estilo arquitectónico del edificio, según proyecto realizado y dirigido por el arquitecto Carlos Luca de Tena Alvear. Una vez terminadas las obras que se realizaron durante los años 1985 y 1986, el Hospital reanudó sus actividades el 2 de febrero de 1987. Historia Cruz Roja Córdoba
Entre 1991 y 1992 se estudió un ambicioso proyecto de mejoras en el Hospital, realizado y dirigido por el arquitecto Arturo Ramirez Laguna, de las que destacan, por su funcionalidad, las realizadas en consultas externas y zona de urgencias. Pero lo más importante fue la ampliación del Hospital previa demolición de la parte del edificio que ocupaban por entonces las dependencias de la Asamblea Provincial.
Esa ampliación supuso la construcción de una nueva planta que contemplaba el aumento de 40 habitaciones de hospitalización, dos nuevos quirófanos, un área de hemodinámica-cateterismo, unidad de Cuidados Intensivos y ampliación de la zona de radiología y Analisis clínicos.
Estas obras de ampliación se realizaron durante los años 1994-1995, siendo su puesta en funcionamiento en Mayo de 1995.
Desde entonces, la Dirección del Hospital ha apostado firmemente por adecuarse a los tiempos, invirtiendo notablemente en la mejora de las instalaciones con objeto de favorecer el bienestar y confort de los pacientes, adaptándolas a las necesidades sanitarias actuales.
Y en esta línea, ha ido avanzando en paralelo a los avances tecnológicos actualizando constantemente su material y equipamiento médico: láser urológico, resonancias de última generación, intensificador de imagen quirúrgico, torres de laparoscopia y un largo etcétera.

A la vez participa ese mismo año en el rodaje de la serie '' La Pecera de Eva '' ( Isla Producciones y Telecinco ) dónde estuvo 2 temporadas.
