A timeline is a way of displaying a list of events in chronological order, sometimes described as a project artifact. It is typically a graphic design showing a long bar labelled with dates alongside itself and usually events labelled on points where they would have happened.
A timeline is a way of displaying a list of events in chronological order, sometimes described as a project artifact. Timelines can use any time scale, depending on the subject and data. Most timelines use a linear scale, where a unit of distance is equal to a set amount of time. This time scale is dependent on the events in the timeline. A timeline of evolution can be over millions of years, whereas a timeline for the day of the September 11 attacks can take place over minutes. While most timelines use a linear timescale, for very large or small timespans, logarithmic timelines use a logarithmic scale to depict time.
There are different types of timelines
The term digital rights describes the human rights that allow individuals to access, use, create, and publish digital media or to access and use computers, other electronic devices, or communications networks. The term is particularly related to the protection and realization of existing rights, such as the right to privacy or freedom of expression, in the context of new digital technologies, especially the Internet. Internet access is recognized as a right by the laws of several countries.
A number of human rights have been identified as relevant with regard to the Internet. These include freedom of expression, data protection and privacy and freedom of association. Furthermore, the right to education and multilingualism, consumer rights, and capacity building in the context of the right to development have also been identified.
The Internet is a global public good that should be accessible to all and respectful of the rights of others, said an influential Jesuit magazine.
In 1495 a new disease hit Europe. It was deadly, devastating and attacked those who were promiscuous, well-heeled and well-travelled. But what was Syphilis and where had it come from? The traditional view has been that syphilis was part of "the Columbian exchange" – one of the things, along with tobacco and the potato, that the New World gave the Old. Arriving in Spain in the 1490s with Columbus and his crew, this destructive new plague spread quickly across Europe, leaving no country, no city, no royal household untouched. But what if this assumption is wrong? There is evidence of syphilis in skeletons dug from sites in France, Italy and England. Bones found in a medieval graveyard in Hull show signs of the ravages of syphilis. But if syphilis was present in Europe before Columbus went to...

Presented by acclaimed historian Dan Jones, the Plantagenets combines his scintillating story-telling with drama reconstruction and brings to life a dramatic and bloody time in England’s history. This is history like you’ve never seen it before. Dan delivers his extraordinary take on one of the most visceral and violent...

In the 16th century the Turkish city of Istanbul was ruled by Suleyman the Magnificent. The center of his power was Topkapi Palace - at the heart of which was the harem. Into it came hundreds of women from all over the empire and beyond. It was a place where sex could equal power. This documentary tells the story of how some of these women came to play a pivotal role in running the world's largest empire from inside the mysterious and sometimes violent world of the Harem. Nelson’s Trafalgar examines the man behind the legend, his affair with Lady Hamilton – one of the great romances of history, and the dark side of a hero whose exploits were described by his contemporaries as both ‘glorious’ and ‘a stain on the national honour’. Admiral Horatio Nelson is Britain’s greatest naval hero. His determination, daring and humanity became a legend even before his overwhelming victory and death at the Battle of Trafalgar when he was elevated to the status of Godhead. Courageous, charismatic, passionate, ruthless, a true statesman – according to his admirers. Vain, self important, melancholic, irrational, a modern day suicide bomber – according to his critics. Born in Norfolk, he experienced the death of his beloved mother at the age of nine, a loss he felt for the re...

One of the biggest unsolved mysteries in British history: the identity of the crew of the Mary Rose. It reveals a startling new explanation for why the Mary Rose sank. The Mary Rose sank to the bottom of the sea on 19 July 1545. Almost the entire crew of around 400 sailors and soldiers died. Yet despite the massive loss of life, only one name for certain is known of the ill-fated crew: the Vice Admiral George Carew. This film follows Dr. Hugh Montgomery, a former diver on the Mary Rose, and an intensive care doctor at Whittington Hospital NHS Trust, as he tries to learn more about the men of the Mary Rose. Francis Pryor examines the history of Britain near the end of the Roman occupation. The first instalment focuses on Britain under Roman rule, revealing a much greater degree of collaboration with the natives than was previously recognised. Sheep-farming archaeologist, Francis Pryor, presents a historical series which explores Britain A.D, the British national character and the ultimate British icon King Arthur. Finding new and previously unexplained evidence, Francis Pryor overturns the idea that Britain reverted to a state of anarchy and disorder after the Romans left in 410 AD. Instead of doom and gloom Francis discovers a continuous culture that assimilated influences from as far a field as the Middle East and Constantinople. Through scrutinising the myth of King Arthur to find out wh...
Episode 1 tell us how the egos of Maj. Gen. Charles V.F. Townshend, Field Marshal Bernard L. Montgomery and Gen. Douglas MacArthur led to disaster for their troops. We have long saluted military genius and bravery. But the other side of the coin is military incompetence – a largely preventable, tragically expensive, yet totally absorbing aspect of human behaviour. From the Crusades to Vietnam, history is littered with examples of stupidity, obduracy, brutality and sheer breath-taking incompetence. Lack of communication, technological failure and a misplaced sense of superiority have led to the deaths of thousands of ordinary soldiers, let down by their masters and betrayed by arrogance. Using a combination of history, human interest and archive footage underpinned by powerful story-telli...
Stylish, fast-moving and filmic, The Riddle of Pompeii finally solves one of the world's biggest archaeological mysteries. In AD 79 the legendary volcano Vesuvius erupted in one of the deadliest volcanic eruptions of all time, destroying the town of Pompeii. For 400 years archaeologists have studied the ancient bodies found buried beneath layers of ash and rock. The explanation for the victims’ deaths has always been that they were killed by flying rocks and boiling lava. This is the interpretation still given to tourists who visit the site at Pompeii today. Yet an intriguing mystery lies at the centre of this explanation... The people of Pompeii had ample warning that the volcano was about to erupt, and yet they apparently stayed put, awaiting death in their hundreds. Why? The skeletons...
I am in this maze
and everywhere I face
the walls are staring back at me,
A road beyond the far
transcending past the stars
unending through the dark above
So, while you're waiting
for the wheel to come around...
Lost in time and space,
existence left no trace,
yet I'm aware and on my way
A fractured state of mind,
an instant trapped in time,
the shadow half of life deranged
So, while you're waiting
for the wheel to come around
Smile to your maker
she's somewhere, she's around
I gotta run to live, I wanna be alive
I have a reason now, I wanna be alive
If i should ever find
a way I still don't know
if I could trade my life away
Yet should I stay behind,
then you will never know
of all the wonders I have seen
So, while you're waiting
for the wheel to come around
Smile to your maker
she's somewhere, she's around
I gotta run to live, I wanna be alive
