She's poised to walk away from her role as Eva Price after announcing her decision to quit Coronation Street in the new year.

But filming commitments took a back seat as Catherine Tyldesley, 34, stepped out in Manchester on Tuesday afternoon, after admitting she couldn't wait to spend more time with husband Tom Pitfield.

The actress, a household name thanks to her role on the ITV soap, looked relaxed in a monochrome sweater and skinny jeans while making her way back to her car following a brief appearance in the city.

A lilac winter coat and black suede boots added to her understated look, while her hair was effortlessly styled with a simple centre parting.

Evidently in high spirits, the actress beamed at onlookers as she took a welcome break from Coronation Street Salford Quays set.

The outing comes after Catherine admitted she was looking ahead to her departure from the show, so she can spend more time with her family.

Taking to Instagram, the actress shared a snap of herself with her arms draped around husband Tom.

Captioning the shot, she wrote: 'Can’t wait for some decent time off with this one.'

Producers and the actress herself confirmed the news of her departure in November, adding that her last scenes will air in the early summer, 2018.

Speaking to The Sun, Catherine, 34, who plays Eva Price, said: 'Coronation Street has been a dream job for me which is why this was such a difficult decision to leave.

'Eva has been such fun to play over the last seven years, and who knows, one day she might storm the cobbles of Weatherfield again.

'In the meantime I’m excited about the future, new acting projects, and spending time with my family.'
