And Ed Sheeran seemed in a reflective mood on Sunday as he took to the stage to perform for the final time this year at the Miss France 2018 pageant in Chateauroux.

The 26-year-old musician was joined by a bevvy of beauties who strutted down the stage in a number of revealing outfits as they competed to be crowned winner.

Clad in a tailored black suit and navy tie, the Shape Of You hitmaker dressed to impress for the glamorous bash.

Ahead of the performance, Ed took to Instagram to reflect on his momentous year.

He wrote: 'Final day of work for the year today. Been the best professional year of my life, but it's flown by. Seems like a week ago that Shape Of You and Castle On The Hill came out.

'Thank you to everyone who has supported everything I did this year, amazing way to start the year and an amazing way to end it. Hope you all have a very merry Christmas, happy holidays, and a good break. See you in 2018 xx'

'Hearing people’s opinions — especially people I’ve never met — on my character forms a sort of paranoia in you. So now not reading it gives my head a bit more of a break.

'I think to be a creative human being you have to be a little bit f***ing weird anyway — like a little bit on the edge of madness. And when you have someone that’s on the spectrum and you basically hurl loads of insults at them, it’s going to tip them over the edge at some point.'
