PETE JENSON: What a difference a game makes – especially when it's the game that has given you the title of 'best team in the world' for another 12 months. Real Madrid's spirits have been down these past few weeks. The Wembley defeat by Tottenham hurt and left them second in their Champions League group. That has seen them draw Neymar and Paris Saint-Germain in the last-16. In La Liga they have fallen 11 points behind leaders Barcelona and slipped to fourth in the table. And yet beating Gremio has put a smile back on everyone's faces.

'If you won the title, you'd be passing the can around, and it's like nothing you've ever tasted': Jesus opens up on his childhood... and how winning a fizzy drink meant more than lifting the Copa Libertadores
Gabriel Jesus can look back and laugh. He can grin impishly at the absurdity of being accosted in a car park, when he thought his legs were ripe for snapping in two. He was 13 then, playing in a men’s league in Sao Paulo. He embarrassed a fair few with the dazzling tricks we are now enjoying in the Premier League. ‘The pitches are all dirt, and you’re playing against the marmanjo — the “hard men”,’ Jesus wrote in The Players’ Tribune.

Alonso displays incredible accuracy by sending shot into basketball hoop
Following his delightful free-kick against Southampton last weekend, Chelsea fans need no reminder of just how accurate Marcos Alonso's left foot is - but he has gone and given them one anyway. The Spaniard's goal from a long-range free-kick made the difference in their 1-0 win over the Saints last weekend, so it came as no surprise to see him take on the challenge of burying a football in basketball hoop from distance. Chelsea's official Instagram account posted a video of their wing back taking aim at the hoop and he sent it straight into net with relative ease before celebrating nonchalantly.
Sigurdsson screamer sinks Swansea: Everton star nets against old club before Rooney makes up for penalty miss
IAN HERBERT AT GOODISON PARK: When the season was new and held out such promise, Paul Clement was sanguine about the loss of Gylfi Sigurdsson to Everton. There would be a new way ahead, he declared. This was the night when he discovered the challenge of making good on a promise like that. When his Swansea side looking increasingly confident extracting a point and some encouragement from a night of attrition, the Icelander stepped and delivered his old side deeper into trouble at the foot of the table.
