The cost of the technology to harvest and store energy will never be “free,” but after the probably very low initial technology cost, the ongoing costs will be very close to “free.”
granted this is just a thought experiment,
but until we outgrow this limiting concept of a hugely interconnected and interdependent nation-wide grid,
then T&D costs are never going to permit free electricity.
With crapitalism, ain’t ever goin’ happen.
