Sheet music is a handwritten or printed form of music notation that uses modern musical symbols to indicate the pitches (melodies) and rhythms of a song or musical piece. Like its analogs – books, pamphlets, etc. – the medium of sheet music typically is paper (or, in earlier times, parchment), although the access to musical notation since the 1980s has included the presentation of musical notation on computer screens. Use of the term "sheet" is intended to differentiate written or printed music from a sound recording, radio or TV broadcast or a recorded live performance, which may capture film or video footage or the performance as well as the audio component. In everyday use, "sheet music" (or simply "music") can refer to the print publication of commercial music in conjunction with the release of a new film, TV show, record album, or other special or popular event which involves music. The first printed sheet music was made in 1473.
Sheet music is the basic form in which Western classical music is notated so that it can be performed by solo singers or instrumentalists or musical ensembles. Many forms of traditional and popular Western music are commonly learned by singers and musicians "by ear", rather than by using sheet music (although in many cases, traditional and pop music may also be available in sheet music form).
Music is an art form and cultural activity whose medium is sound and silence. The common elements of music are pitch (which governs melody and harmony), rhythm (and its associated concepts tempo, meter, and articulation), dynamics (loudness and softness), and the sonic qualities of timbre and texture (which are sometimes termed the "color" of a musical sound). Different styles or types of music may emphasize, de-emphasize or omit some of these elements. Music is performed with a vast range of instruments and with vocal techniques ranging from singing to rapping, and there are solely instrumental pieces, solely vocal pieces and pieces that combine singing and instruments. The word derives from Greek μουσική (mousike; "art of the Muses"). In its most general form, the activities describing music as an art form include the production of works of music (songs, tunes, symphonies, and so on), the criticism of music, the study of the history of music, and the aesthetic examination of music. Ancient Greek and Indian philosophers defined music as tones ordered horizontally as melodies and vertically as harmonies. Common sayings such as "the harmony of the spheres" and "it is music to my ears" point to the notion that music is often ordered and pleasant to listen to. However, 20th-century composer John Cage thought that any sound can be music, saying, for example, "There is no noise, only sound."

Sir Karl William Pamp Jenkins, CBE (born 17 February 1944) is a Welsh musician and composer known for "Adiemus", The Armed Man and his Requiem.
Karl Jenkins was born and raised in Penclawdd, the Gower, Wales. His mother was Swedish; his father was Welsh. Karl received his initial musical instruction from his father who was the local schoolteacher, chapel organist and choirmaster. Jenkins attended Gowerton Grammar School.
Jenkins began his musical career as an oboist in the National Youth Orchestra of Wales. He went on to study music at Cardiff University, and then commenced postgraduate studies in London at the Royal Academy of Music, where he also met his wife and musical collaborator, Carol Barratt. He studied with Alun Hoddinott.
For the bulk of his early career Jenkins was known as a jazz and jazz-rock musician, playing baritone and soprano saxophones, keyboards and oboe, an unusual instrument in a jazz context. He joined jazz composer Graham Collier's group and later co-founded the jazz-rock group Nucleus, which won first prize at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1970.
Gladiator is the original soundtrack of the 2000 film of the same name. The original score and songs were composed by Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard and were released in 2000, titled Gladiator: Music From the Motion Picture. The Lyndhurst Orchestra performing the score was conducted by Gavin Greenaway.
The album won the Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score and was also nominated for the Academy Award and BAFTA Award for Best Score ("Anthony Asquith Award for Film Music").
Well-reviewed by critics (popular score review sites Filmtracks, Moviewave, and Scorereviews all give it overall positive reviews) and fans (370 Amazon.com reviews with a 4.5 avg. rating) alike, this score has attained admirable commercial stock in the film music world. Not since James Horner's Titanic soundtrack (which sold millions) had a movie score been in such high demand.

NO COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT INTENDED This is a complete transcription of Pentatonix's cover of "Bohemian Rhapsody" from their upcoming EP, PTX Vol IV. This arrangement was quite difficult, it's probably one of the ones I've spent the longest time on. The opera section drove me crazy, so there may be a few mistakes here and there (especially in the louder parts). Point out any mistakes in the comments. I'll have transcribed almost half of the entire new EP before it's even been released (3 of 7) :P. Leave suggestions and requests in the comments, as always. Who knows how Norbert Burgmüller’s compositional talent may have developed had he not died at 26? Perhaps it’s not fair that his Op. 1 Piano Concerto is sandwiched between two concerted works by his exact contemporary, Robert Schumann. Though the Op. 92 and Op. 134 are not quite prime Schumann, their idiosyncratic beauties ooze genius. Burgmüller’s assured fluency operates within more conventional parameters, with the spirit of Weber and Hummel never far from the writing table. The outer movements sometimes suggest a heavier-gaited Mendelssohn. The slow movement is a remarkable three-way conversation between the piano, a solo cello, and the orchestra. Burgmüller deploys his forces so that everyone speaks their peace without toppling all over each other. (classicstoday.com) Please take n...
pf: Zubin Mehta cond/ New York Philharmonic Orchestra Tannhäuser is an 1845 opera in three acts, music and text by Richard Wagner, based on two German legends; Tannhäuser, the legendary medieval German Minnesänger and poet, and the tale of the Wartburg Song Contest. The story centers on the struggle between sacred and profane love, and redemption through love, a theme running through much of Wagner's mature work. Wagner began composing the music during a vacation in Teplitz in the summer of 1843 and completed the full score on 13 April 1845; the opera's famous overture, often played separately as a concert piece, was written last. While composing the music for the Venusberg grotto, Wagner grew so impassioned that he made himself ill; in his autobiography, he wrote, "With much pain and to...

The Symphony No. 6 in B minor, Op. 74, Pathétique is Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's final completed symphony, written between February and the end of August 1893. The composer led the first performance in Saint Petersburg on 16/28 October of that year, nine days before his death. The second performance, conducted by Eduard Nápravník, took place 21 days later, at a memorial concert on 6/18 November. It included some minor corrections that Tchaikovsky had made after the premiere, and was thus the first performance of the work in the exact form in which it is known today. The Piano Concerto in C minor, Op. 12, is a three-movement composition for piano and orchestra by French composer Gabriel Pierné. The piece was completed in early 1887, shortly after Pierné returned to Paris from a three year stay in Rome. Lasting roughly twenty minutes in performance, the concerto is composed in three movements: Allegro, Scherzando, and Final. The opening movement resembles a classical first movement form - though Pierné extends the usual exposition section to create a three-part structure preceded by an imposing maestoso introduction, dominated by the piano. The brief development section and heavily truncated recapitulation suggest that Pierné felt happier working within his own structural frameworks. As in many of Pierné's works these structures rely less on classical...
Happy Wednesday! Forgive the experimental nature of this video - but I recently inherited this blue yeti from a certain somebody (CrinkleLuvin - go say thank you to her!!!), and I thought I'd try him out with an audio trigger video. I did not prepare much for the video, I just set up and went with it. As such, I forgot to put the mic back to binaural, so apologies. But I was mainly focusing on hearing what sounds were picked up, namely, the mechanical pencil and page turning. I left the gain down quite a bit just to so its not n overwhelming amount of white noise, but I have learning to do on that front. For now, just come spend a half hour with me and enjoy the sounds! * I am planning to do a Livestream. What would you like to see from me? I am thinking I will answer any questions, and t...
