The M4 Sherman, officially the Medium Tank, M4, was the primary battle tank used by the United States and the other Western Allies in World War II. Thousands were distributed to the Allies, including the British Commonwealth and the Soviet Union, through the lend-lease program. The M4 was the second most produced tank of the World War II era, after the Soviet T-34, and its role in its parent nation's victory was comparable to that of the T-34. The tank was named after the American Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman by the British.
The M4 Sherman evolved from the interim M3 Medium Tank, which had its main armament in a side sponson mount. The M4 retained much of the previous mechanical design but put the main 75 mm gun in a fully traversing turret, with a gyrostabilizer enabling the crew to fire with reasonable accuracy while the tank was on the move. The designers stressed mechanical reliability, ease of production and maintenance, durability, standardization of parts and ammunition in a limited number of variants, and moderate size and weight.
The Americans also started to introduce the M4A3E8 variant, with improved suspension and a high-velocity 76 mm gun as used on the tank destroyers. As well as equipping the Allies during the war, Shermans - including updated versions - saw combat in many post-war conflicts, including the Korean War, Arab-Israeli Wars, and the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965.

M4 Sherman (oficjalnie Medium Tank, M4) – amerykański czołg średni, stosowany w czasie II wojny światowej. Brytyjczycy używali nazwy M4 General Sherman. Czołg nazwany na cześć generała Williama Shermana.
Sherman bazował na podwoziu i wielu podzespołach czołgu M3 Lee, na którym zamontowano wieżę z działem 75 mm. Umożliwiło to szybkie przestawienie się zakładów na produkcje nowego pojazdu. Dlatego w okresie od lutego 1942 r. do końca II wojny światowej wyprodukowano łącznie 49 000 sztuk wszystkich wersji. Używany, między innymi, przez armie USA, Wielkiej Brytanii, Polski, Francji i ZSRR.
Produkcję M4 rozpoczęto w lutym 1942 r. i do lipca tegoż roku wszystkie fabryki wytwarzające czołg M3 Lee przestawiły się na jego produkcję. Użyty bojowo został po raz pierwszy przez brytyjską 8 Armię w bitwie pod El Alamein (252 szt). Od lata 1943 r. M4 stał się podstawowym czołgiem średnim aliantów zachodnich w tym (z chwilą wejścia do działań) 1 Dywizji Pancernej gen. Stanisława Maczka i 2 Brygady Pancernej 2 Korpusu Polskiego gen. Władysława Andersa.
M4 Sherman był niezawodnym czołgiem, wyprodukowanym na potrzeby wojny w wielkich ilościach. W momencie wprowadzenia do boju na jesieni 1942 Sherman doskonale dawał sobie radę z czołgami niemieckimi tego okresu. Sytuacja pogorszyła się gdy w miarę postępu wojny Shermany musiały walczyć z cięższymi czołgami niemieckimi typu Tygrys (57 t) i Pantera (45 t), które z natury rzeczy miały nad nimi znaczną przewagę. Podstawowa armata 75 mm montowana na wczesnych wersjach Shermanów nie miała szans przebić pancerza przedniego tych cięższych niemieckich czołgów. Nawet lepsza armata 76 mm montowana na późniejszych wersjach które zaczęły docierać na front w lecie 1944 miała z tym duże trudności.
Różnice te niwelowała do pewnego stopnia przewaga liczebna (zwykle na mniej więcej pięć Shermanów przypadała jedna Pantera). Z powodu bardzo małej liczby Tygrysów i stosunkowo małej liczby Panter, spotkania takie zdarzały się raczej rzadko. Taktyka aliantów w czasie takich spotkań polegała na zajechaniu Pantery od tyłu i z boku gdzie miała mniejszy pancerz możliwy to przebicia przez Shermany. Taktyka ta wymagała zwykle użycia kilku czołgów, które często ponosiły duże straty zanim jeden dotarł na pozycję z której mógł oddać skuteczny strzał do Pantery. Zwykle jednak Shermany działały jako wsparcie piechoty i spisywały się w tej roli bardzo dobrze, nie miały również problemów w walce z najbardziej licznymi niemieckimi czołgami ostatniego roku wojny, średnich PzKpfw IV wersji H i J.

Mister Peabody
Mr. Peabody is a cartoon dog who appeared in the late 1950s and early 1960s television animated series Rocky and His Friends and The Bullwinkle Show, produced by Jay Ward. Peabody appeared in the "Peabody's Improbable History" segments created by Ted Key, and was voiced by Bill Scott. In 2014, he was featured in a computer-animated film Mr. Peabody & Sherman. Since 2015, he appears in the new TV series based on the film.
Mr. Peabody's first name is never given or referred to in the cartoons, but in an animated promo for the Rocky & Bullwinkle Savings Stamp Club he tells Sherman that it's "Hector."
Peabody's Improbable History
Plot
The cartoons are about Peabody, a beagle who is the smartest being in existence. Peabody has accomplished many things in his life as a business magnate, inventor, scientist, Nobel laureate, gourmand, and two-time Olympic medalist. Mr. Peabody becomes sad and lonely and decides to adopt his own human son. In an alley, he meets Sherman (voiced by Walter Tetley), a dorky, bespectacled, red-haired boy. After saving Sherman from a group of bullies, Peabody discovers that Sherman is an orphan and decides to adopt him.

M4 Sherman
The M4 Sherman, officially Medium Tank, M4, was the most numerous battle tank used by the United States and some other Western Allies in World War II. In spite of being surpassed by German medium and heavy tanks late in the war, the M4 Sherman proved to be very reliable, cheaper to produce and available in greater numbers. Thousands were distributed through the Lend-Lease program to the British Commonwealth and Soviet Union. The tank was named by the British for the American Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman.
The M4 Sherman evolved from the interim M3 Medium Tank, which had its main armament in a side sponson mount. The M4 retained much of the previous mechanical design but put the main 75 mm gun in a fully traversing turret. One controversial feature, a one-axis gyrostabilizer, was not precise enough to allow firing when moving but did help keep the reticle on target, so that when the tank did stop to fire, the gun would be aimed in roughly the right direction. The designers stressed mechanical reliability, ease of production and maintenance, durability, standardization of parts and ammunition in a limited number of variants, and moderate size and weight. These factors, combined with M4 Sherman's then-superior armor and armament, outclassed German light and medium tanks of 1939–42. The M4 went on to be produced in large numbers. It spearheaded many offensives by the Western Allies after 1942.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman
Mr. Peabody & Sherman is a 2014 American 3D computer-animated comic science fiction film featuring the characters Mr. Peabody and Sherman of the 1960s animated television series The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. It is produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by 20th Century Fox. The movie is directed by Rob Minkoff, who is most famous for co-directing Walt Disney Animation Studios' The Lion King. Alex Schwartz and Denise Nolan Cascino are the producers. Tiffany Ward, daughter of Jay Ward, one of the creators of the original series, is the executive producer.Mr. Peabody & Sherman features the voices of Ty Burrell, Max Charles and Ariel Winter.
It is the first DreamWorks animated feature to feature characters from the Classic Media library since DreamWorks Animation's 2012 acquisition of Classic Media and the first to be based on a TV show. The film premiered on February 7, 2014 in the United Kingdom, and was released on March 7, 2014 in the United States. Despite grossing a worldwide total of $275 million on its $145 million budget, the film underperformed at the box office, forcing a writedown of $57 million. A TV series based on the film, titled The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show, was released on Netflix on October 9, 2015.

Produkcję M4 rozpoczęto w lutym 1942 r. i do lipca tegoż roku wszystkie fabryki wytwarzające czołg M3 Lee przestawiły się na jego produkcję. Użyty bojowo został po raz pierwszy przez brytyjską 8 Armię w bitwie pod El Alamein (252 szt). Od lata 1943 r. M4 stał się podstawowym czołgiem średnim aliantów zachodnich w tym (z chwilą wejścia do działań) 1 Dywizji Pancernej gen. Stanisława Maczka i 2 Brygady Pancernej 2 Korpusu Polskiego gen. Władysława Andersa. M4 Sherman był niezawodnym czołgiem, wyprodukowanym na potrzeby wojny w wielkich ilościach. W momencie wprowadzenia do boju na jesieni 1942 Sherman doskonale dawał sobie radę z czołgami niemieckimi tego okresu. Sytuacja pogorszyła się gdy w miarę postępu wojny Shermany musiały walczyć z cięższymi czołgami niemieckimi typu Tygrys (57 t) i Pantera (45 t), które z natury rzeczy miały nad nimi znaczną przewagę. Podstawowa armata 75 mm montowana na wczesnych wersjach Shermanów nie miała szans przebić pancerza przedniego tych cięższych niemieckich czołgów. Nawet lepsza armata 76 mm montowana na późniejszych wersjach które zaczęły docierać na front w lecie 1944 miała z tym duże trudności. Różnice te niwelowała do pewnego stopnia przewaga liczebna (zwykle na mniej więcej pięć Shermanów przypadała jedna Pantera). Z powodu bardzo małej liczby Tygrysów i stosunkowo małej liczby Panter, spotkania takie zdarzały się raczej rzadko. Taktyka aliantów w czasie takich spotkań polegała na zajechaniu Pantery od tyłu i z boku gdzie miała mniejszy pancerz możliwy to przebicia przez Shermany. Taktyka ta wymagała zwykle użycia kilku czołgów, które często ponosiły duże straty zanim jeden dotarł na pozycję z której mógł oddać skuteczny strzał do Pantery. Zwykle jednak Shermany działały jako wsparcie piechoty i spisywały się w tej roli bardzo dobrze, nie miały również problemów w walce z najbardziej licznymi niemieckimi czołgami ostatniego roku wojny, średnich PzKpfw IV wersji H i J. -

The M4 Sherman, officially the Medium Tank, M4, was the primary battle tank used by the United States and the other Western Allies in World War II. Thousands were distributed to the Allies, including the British Commonwealth and the Soviet Union, through the lend-lease program. M4 Sherman (oficjalnie Medium Tank, M4) – amerykański czołg średni, stosowany w czasie II wojny światowej. Brytyjczycy używali nazwy M4 General Sherman. Czołg nazwany na cześć generała Williama Shermana. Sherman bazował na podwoziu i wielu podzespołach czołgu M3 Lee, na którym zamontowano wieżę z działem 75 mm. The M4 Sherman, officially the Medium Tank, M4, was the primary battle tank used by the United States and the other Western Allies in World War II. Thousands were distributed to the Allies, including the British Commonwealth and the Soviet Union, through the lend-lease program. The M4 was the second most produced tank of the World War II era, after the Soviet T-34, and its role in its parent nation's victory was comparable to that of the T-34. The tank was named after the American Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman by the British.
The M4 Sherman evolved from the interim M3 Medium Tank, which had its main armament in a side sponson mount. The M4 retained much of the previous mechanical design but put the main 75 mm gun in a fully traversing turret, with a gyrostabilizer enabling the crew to fire with reasonable accuracy while the tank was on the move. The designers stressed mechanical reliability, ease of production and maintenance, durability, standardization of parts and ammunition in a limited number of variants, and moderate size and weight.
The Americans also started to introduce the M4A3E8 variant, with improved suspension and a high-velocity 76 mm gun as used on the tank destroyers. As well as equipping the Allies during the war, Shermans - including updated versions - saw combat in many post-war conflicts, including the Korean War, Arab-Israeli Wars, and the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965.

Produkcję M4 rozpoczęto w lutym 1942 r. i do lipca tegoż roku wszystkie fabryki wytwarzające czołg M3 Lee przestawiły się na jego produkcję. Użyty bojowo został po raz pierwszy przez brytyjską 8 Armię w bitwie pod El Alamein (252 szt). Od lata 1943 r. M4 stał się podstawowym czołgiem średnim aliantów zachodnich w tym (z chwilą wejścia do działań) 1 Dywizji Pancernej gen. Stanisława Maczka i 2 Brygady Pancernej 2 Korpusu Polskiego gen. Władysława Andersa.
M4 Sherman był niezawodnym czołgiem, wyprodukowanym na potrzeby wojny w wielkich ilościach. W momencie wprowadzenia do boju na jesieni 1942 Sherman doskonale dawał sobie radę z czołgami niemieckimi tego okresu. Sytuacja pogorszyła się gdy w miarę postępu wojny Shermany musiały walczyć z cięższymi czołgami niemieckimi typu Tygrys (57 t) i Pantera (45 t), które z natury rzeczy miały nad nimi znaczną przewagę. Podstawowa armata 75 mm montowana na wczesnych wersjach Shermanów nie miała szans przebić pancerza przedniego tych cięższych niemieckich czołgów. M4 Sherman (oficjalnie Medium Tank, M4) – amerykański czołg średni, stosowany w czasie II wojny światowej. Brytyjczycy używali nazwy M4 General Sherman. Czołg nazwany na cześć generała Williama Shermana.
Sherman bazował na podwoziu i wielu podzespołach czołgu M3 Lee, na którym zamontowano wieżę z działem 75 mm. Umożliwiło to szybkie przestawienie się zakładów na produkcje nowego pojazdu. Dlatego w okresie od lutego 1942 r. do końca II wojny światowej wyprodukowano łącznie 49 000 sztuk wszystkich wersji. Używany, między innymi, przez armie USA, Wielkiej Brytanii, Polski, Francji i ZSRR.
Produkcję M4 rozpoczęto w lutym 1942 r. i do lipca tegoż roku wszystkie fabryki wytwarzające czołg M3 Lee przestawiły się na jego produkcję. Użyty bojowo został po raz pierwszy przez brytyjską 8 Armię w bitwie pod El Alamein (252 szt). Od lata 1943 r. M4 stał się podstawowym czołgiem średnim aliantów zachodnich w tym (z chwilą wejścia do działań) 1 Dywizji Pancernej gen. Stanisława Maczka i 2 Brygady Pancernej 2 Korpusu Polskiego gen. Władysława Andersa.
M4 Sherman był niezawodnym czołgiem, wyprodukowanym na potrzeby wojny w wielkich ilościach. W momencie wprowadzenia do boju na jesieni 1942 Sherman doskonale dawał sobie radę z czołgami niemieckimi tego okresu. Sytuacja pogorszyła się gdy w miarę postępu wojny Shermany musiały walczyć z cięższymi czołgami niemieckimi typu Tygrys (57 t) i Pantera (45 t), które z natury rzeczy miały nad nimi znaczną przewagę. Podstawowa armata 75 mm montowana na wczesnych wersjach Shermanów nie miała szans przebić pancerza przedniego tych cięższych niemieckich czołgów. The M4 Sherman, officially the Medium Tank, M4, was the primary battle tank used by the United States and the other Western Allies in World War II. Thousands were distributed to the Allies, including the British Commonwealth and the Soviet Union, through the lend-lease program. The M4 was the second most produced tank of the World War II era, after the Soviet T-34, and its role in its parent nation's victory was comparable to that of the T-34. The tank was named after the American Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman by the British.
The M4 Sherman evolved from the interim M3 Medium Tank, which had its main armament in a side sponson mount. The M4 retained much of the previous mechanical design but put the main 75 mm gun in a fully traversing turret, with a gyrostabilizer enabling the crew to fire with reasonable accuracy while the tank was on the move. The designers stressed mechanical reliability, ease of production and maintenance, durability, standardization of parts and ammunition in a limited number of variants, and moderate size and weight.
The Americans also started to introduce the M4A3E8 variant, with improved suspension and a high-velocity 76 mm gun as used on the tank destroyers. As well as equipping the Allies during the war, Shermans - including updated versions - saw combat in many post-war conflicts, including the Korean War, Arab-Israeli Wars, and the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965.

Sherman bazował na podwoziu i wielu podzespołach czołgu M3 Lee, na którym zamontowano wieżę z działem 75 mm. Umożliwiło to szybkie przestawienie się zakładów na produkcje nowego pojazdu. Dlatego w okresie od lutego 1942 r. do końca II wojny światowej wyprodukowano łącznie 49 000 sztuk wszystkich wersji. Używany, między innymi, przez armie USA, Wielkiej Brytanii, Polski, Francji i ZSRR.
Produkcję M4 rozpoczęto w lutym 1942 r. i do lipca tegoż roku wszystkie fabryki wytwarzające czołg M3 Lee przestawiły się na jego produkcję. Użyty bojowo został po raz pierwszy przez brytyjską 8 Armię w bitwie pod El Alamein (252 szt). Od lata 1943 r. M4 stał się podstawowym czołgiem średnim aliantów zachodnich w tym (z chwilą wejścia do działań) 1 Dywizji Pancernej gen. Stanisława Maczka i 2 Brygady Pancernej 2 Korpusu Polskiego gen. Władysława Andersa.
M4 Sherman był niezawodnym czołgiem, wyprodukowanym na potrzeby wojny w wielkich ilościach. W momencie wprowadzenia do boju na jesieni 1942 Sherman doskonale dawał sobie radę z czołgami niemieckimi tego okresu. Sytuacja pogorszyła się gdy w miarę postępu wojny Shermany musiały walczyć z cięższymi czołgami niemieckimi typu Tygrys (57 t) i Pantera (45 t), które z natury rzeczy miały nad nimi znaczną przewagę. Podstawowa armata 75 mm montowana na wczesnych wersjach Shermanów nie miała szans przebić pancerza przedniego tych cięższych niemieckich czołgów. Nawet lepsza armata 76 mm montowana na późniejszych wersjach które zaczęły docierać na front w lecie 1944 miała z tym duże trudności.
Różnice te niwelowała do pewnego stopnia przewaga liczebna (zwykle na mniej więcej pięć Shermanów przypadała jedna Pantera). Z powodu bardzo małej liczby Tygrysów i stosunkowo małej liczby Panter, spotkania takie zdarzały się raczej rzadko. Taktyka aliantów w czasie takich spotkań polegała na zajechaniu Pantery od tyłu i z boku gdzie miała mniejszy pancerz możliwy to przebicia przez Shermany. M4 Sherman był niezawodnym czołgiem, wyprodukowanym na potrzeby wojny w wielkich ilościach. W momencie wprowadzenia do boju na jesieni 1942 Sherman doskonale dawał sobie radę z czołgami niemieckimi tego okresu. Sytuacja pogorszyła się gdy w miarę postępu wojny Shermany musiały walczyć z cięższymi czołgami niemieckimi typu Tygrys (57 t) i Pantera (45 t), które z natury rzeczy miały nad nimi znaczną przewagę. Podstawowa armata 75 mm montowana na wczesnych wersjach Shermanów nie miała szans przebić pancerza przedniego tych cięższych niemieckich czołgów. Nawet lepsza armata 76 mm montowana na późniejszych wersjach które zaczęły docierać na front w lecie 1944 miała z tym duże trudności.
Różnice te niwelowała do pewnego stopnia przewaga liczebna (zwykle na mniej więcej pięć Shermanów przypadała jedna Pantera). Z powodu bardzo małej liczby Tygrysów i stosunkowo małej liczby Panter, spotkania takie zdarzały się raczej rzadko. Taktyka aliantów w czasie takich spotkań polegała na zajechaniu Pantery od tyłu i z boku gdzie miała mniejszy pancerz możliwy to przebicia przez Shermany. Taktyka ta wymagała zwykle użycia kilku czołgów, które często ponosiły duże straty zanim jeden dotarł na pozycję z której mógł oddać skuteczny strzał do Pantery. Zwykle jednak Shermany działały jako wsparcie piechoty i spisywały się w tej roli bardzo dobrze, nie miały również problemów w walce z najbardziej licznymi niemieckimi czołgami ostatniego roku wojny, średnich PzKpfw IV wersji H i J.

Użyty bojowo został po raz pierwszy przez brytyjską 8 Armię w bitwie pod El Alamein (252 szt). Od lata 1943 r. M4 stał się podstawowym czołgiem średnim aliantów zachodnich w tym (z chwilą wejścia do działań) 1 Dywizji Pancernej gen. Stanisława Maczka i 2 Brygady Pancernej 2 Korpusu Polskiego gen. Władysława Andersa.
M4 Sherman był niezawodnym czołgiem, wyprodukowanym na potrzeby wojny w wielkich ilościach. W momencie wprowadzenia do boju na jesieni 1942 Sherman doskonale dawał sobie radę z czołgami niemieckimi tego okresu. Sytuacja pogorszyła się gdy w miarę postępu wojny Shermany musiały walczyć z cięższymi czołgami niemieckimi typu Tygrys (57 t) i Pantera (45 t), które z natury rzeczy miały nad nimi znaczną przewagę. Podstawowa armata 75 mm montowana na wczesnych wersjach Shermanów nie miała szans przebić pancerza przedniego tych cięższych niemieckich czołgów. Nawet lepsza armata 76 mm montowana na późniejszych wersjach które zaczęły docierać na front w lecie 1944 miała z tym duże trudności.
Różnice te niwelowała do pewnego stopnia przewaga liczebna (zwykle na mniej więcej pięć Shermanów przypadała jedna Pantera). Z powodu bardzo małej liczby Tygrysów i stosunkowo małej liczby Panter, spotkania takie zdarzały się raczej rzadko. Taktyka aliantów w czasie takich spotkań polegała na zajechaniu Pantery od tyłu i z boku gdzie miała mniejszy pancerz możliwy to przebicia przez Shermany. Taktyka ta wymagała zwykle użycia kilku czołgów, które często ponosiły duże straty zanim jeden dotarł na pozycję z której mógł oddać skuteczny strzał do Pantery. Zwykle jednak Shermany działały jako wsparcie piechoty i spisywały się w tej roli bardzo dobrze, nie miały również problemów w walce z najbardziej licznymi niemieckimi czołgami ostatniego roku wojny, średnich PzKpfw IV wersji H i J.
