9 PM (Till I Come)

"9 PM (Till I Come)" is a song by German electronic dance music producer ATB, featuring uncredited vocals by Yolanda Rivera released as his debut single and the lead single from his debut album Movin' Melodies (1998).

"9 PM (Till I Come)" was the first song to feature the sound of a pitched guitar, which was so striking for the first singles to be released as ATB. Apparently Tanneberger was fooling around with his studio-equipment, while he was showing someone around. He liked the sound so much that it became his trademark, and a worldwide dance hit.

Chart performance

"9 PM (Till I Come)" peaked at number 14 on the German Singles Chart. Internationally, the song was also successful. The single entered at number one in the United Kingdom for the week ending July 3, 1999 and stayed there for two weeks, becoming the country's fifth best-selling single of 1999. As of July 2014, it has sold over 890,000 copies in the UK. The song was also number one in the Republic of Ireland for 2 consecutive weeks. It was number three in Belgium and Norway, number five in Belgium, number seven in Italy and number ten in Australia.

Wii Menu

The Wii Menu (known internally as the System Menu) is the graphical shell of the Wii game console, as part of the Wii system software. It has four pages, each with a 4:3 grid, and each displaying the current time and date. Available applications, known as "channels", are displayed and can be navigated using the pointer capability of the Wii Remote. The grid is customizable; users can move channels (except for the Disc Channel) amongst the menu's 47 customizable slots by pressing and holding the A and B button while hovering over the channel the user wants to move. By pressing the plus and minus buttons on the Wii Remote users can scroll across accessing empty slots.

Homebrew Channel

The Homebrew Channel, commonly abbreviated as HBC, is a freeware homebrew application loader that was developed to provide a way of easily running unofficial software on the Wii console. Once installed, it appears as a standard Wii Channel on the Wii Menu. When launched, it displays a list of applications found on an SD card or a USB drive. The user then can control and select an application to launch by using a Wii Remote or the GameCube controller. It also accepts application uploads via a USB Gecko or TCP/IP (over Wi-Fi or Ethernet), which allows for quick application testing during development. When first launched from the Wii Menu, the Homebrew Channel will check for updates to itself and automatically download them if the user chooses to do so.

Prime Time

Prime Time is a current affairs programme airing on RTÉ One on Monday (22.30) and Tuesday and Thursday nights (following the RTÉ Nine O'Clock News).

First broadcast on RTÉ One in 1992, Miriam O'Callaghan has been its main presenter for over fifteen years. O'Callaghan's fellow presenter David McCullagh, a former political correspondent with RTÉ News. Only one show per week is broadcast during the summer months. In January 2013, The Frontline's format and presenter were subsumed into Prime Time as part of a re-branding exercise at RTÉ News and Current Affairs. Pat Kenny soon left RTÉ. Later the Monday slot which had been 'The Frontline' was again split from Prime Time, Claire Byrne left to present the newly branded 'Claire Byrne Live' programme in the slot.

Format

Ireland's current affairs and major societal issues are dealt with, often with politicians, journalists, commentators and industry representatives giving their views live in the studio or via satellite link-up from RTÉ's regional studios and abroad. Two to three stories tend to be covered, with a pre-recorded piece from a reporter followed by a studio discussion. Sometimes the full programme will be devoted to one topic, and may consist entirely of an in-depth documentary piece or investigation from a single reporter. Extended or additional editions are broadcast on occasions such as a general elections or major international events, such as the Paris Attacks. Typically there is no audience attendance, although during these special editions audience involvement and attendance may be included.

News First (News 1st) is a Sri Lankan news network, owned by the Capital Maharaja Organization Ltd.News1st primarily broadcasts news live on 3 TV Channels (Sirasa TV, Shakthi TV, MTV Sports)and 5 Radio Channels (Sirasa FM, Yes FM, Shakthi FM, Y FM and Legends FM), 3 News Websites in Sinhala, English & Tamil languages and all social media platforms; Facebook, Twitter, Mobile App and up to date SMS News Alerts.

News 1st initiated “Gammedda” programme to invigorate the Village Council fora, by taking it to the masses, and strengthening the fundamentals of democracy by instilling the ideal that the relevant authorities and highest echelons of government are directly responsible to the people.

News 1st, S-Lon Construction Clinic called Danamuthu Sayanaya is another initiative carried out with the participation of the renowned architects, builders, engineers in the country where these professionals provide advice free of charge.

E-Prime

E-Prime (short for English-Prime, sometimes denoted É or E′) operates as a version of the English language that excludes all forms of the verb to be. E-Prime does not allow the conjugations of to be—be, am, is, are, was, were, been, being—the archaic forms of to be (e.g. art, wast, wert), or the contractions of to be—'m, 's, 're (e.g. I'm, he's, she's, they're).

Some scholars advocate using E-Prime as a device to clarify thinking and strengthen writing. For example, the sentence "the film was good" could not be expressed under the rules of E-Prime, and the speaker might instead say "I liked the film" or "the film made me laugh". The E-Prime versions communicate the writer's experience rather than judgment, making it harder for the writer or reader to confuse opinion with fact.

Kellogg and Bourland use the term "Deity mode of speech" to refer to misuse of the verb to be, which "allows even the most ignorant to transform their opinions magically into god-like pronouncements on the nature of things".
