How does each method spreads under heatsink? Watch it live! Picture illustration on why spread method isn't the best: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v176/NYC84/Forum/cbf792db.jpg I personally use the pea method when mounting the heatsink onto the CPU. Whether the spread method will create air bubbles or not, I would not recommend it. The reason is simply. The base of the heatsink might not be entirely flat and if so, it creates air gaps between the CPU's heat spreader and the heatsink base. The spread method is not able to fill up the air gap.
UPDATE: Here is the link to the Pea vs Line vs Spread TIM Temp Test https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVM6_T9LxWQ Yes this is a long video explaining this experiment I would like to conduct on the thermal differences between the various applications of applying thermal compound. This is from getting years of criticism for having a couple of video where I apply thermal compound using the spread method. Other YouTubers will state that the spread method will produce terrible results but they don't say by how much. There are many tests of various thermal compounds using the pea method but they do not compare the various application methods. A few people will even deny ever seeing any thermal compound being applied to factory coolers. What's interesting is that some of the patterns I have s...

How to apply thermal compound on an i5-3570k / i7-3770k intel ivy bridge cpu? Hey guys since I did my last video on how to apply heat sink paste (Silicone Grease, and yes pure silicone grease rocks as heat sink paste). Now I am testing stuff and debunking an age old myth and I got a few of my subscribers telling that the pea method was better. Anyway I tested them both neck and neck with some real bench marks to back up both of them and well they are pretty much the SAME, so lets stop talking shit across the internet and stop telling people that they are wrong for applying their thermal paste in a particular way as the most important thing is HOW MUCH (don't put too much or too little on) you apply as opposed to HOW you apply it. Temp monitor was real temp and can be downloaded here -...

How to apply thermal paste. Arctic Cooling MX-4, MX-2. Official video. ============================================================================ Better than Liquid Metal. The ARCTIC MX-4 compound is composed of carbon micro-particles which lead to an extremely high thermal conductivity. It guarantees that heat generated from the CPU or GPU is dissipated quickly and efficiently. Superb in performance, MX-4 is the best companion for overclockers and enthusiasts. This is a brief comparison of the methods that I use for applying thermal paste to CPU and GPU surfaces. It is pretty straight forward but I'm not saying either is better. I only want to make it clear that there aren't air bubbles 100% of the time when spreading thermal interface materials. Arctic Silver 5 is one of the thickest pastes I've ever used so I spread it out almost always. Comment and subscribe.

Hi and welcome at my Channel On this video i show you the best way how to apply Thermal Compound on your CPU / GPU / PS3 / XBOX and an all other Chips. A lot guys are crying because the air bubbles, the thing is, that you got NO air bubbles as long the Chip has a enogh Thermal Compound and a good presure to the cooler! You just get those air bubbles if you had add not enough Thermal Compound, or if you just close your cooler with the old Thermal Compound. So if you just do that like me on my Video, than you will NEVER have a Problem :) Hope you like this Video, leave me a comment and subscribe to my Channel if you like ;) Copies of this video are NOT allowed! This 45-minute presentation will show how some basic concepts of transient analysis of linear thermal systems can be applied to a real-world thermal system design. The mathematical concepts utilized will be presented as principles, generally without any attempt to formally prove their validity (other than seeing that the end results of the model fit the experimental predictions). Attendees who have had prior exposure to basic calculus, beginning linear differential equation theory, and engineering physics (rudimentary linear electrical network concepts and heat transfer) should be quite comfortable with the material that will be covered. Basic concepts that will be touched upon will include: what comprises a linear system; how a continuous domain may be discretized into more-or-less arbit...
I decided to replace the thermal paste on the intel core i7-7700K that is currently in the computer build because the temps on prime 95 with the max heat benchmark caused the temp to rise up to 100 degrees Celsius and caused the CPU to thermal throttle. During the process I found out that the thermal paste spread everywhere across the CPU even though I put a small dot in the middle when I put this together in January. A little more into the video I tighten down the cooler a lot more and applied thermal grizzily Kryonaut thermal paste. The improvement is around 15 to 14 degrees Celsius. Instead of running at 100 degrees Celsius, the processor runs at 85 to 86 degrees Celsius with the same prime 95 benchmark. That's a very good improvement.

Produced by the Atomic Energy Agency and NASA, this film details Project NERVA -- the Nuclear Engine for Rocket Vehicle Application. This was a joint program of the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission and NASA managed by the Space Nuclear Propulsion Office (SNPO) at the Nuclear Rocket Development Station in Jackass Flats, Nevada U.S.A. Between 1959 and 1972, the Space Nuclear Propulsion Office oversaw 23 reactor tests, As the narrator states, "The proposed mission to explore the moon, in addition to further missions, will require the acceleration and deceleration of very heavy loads." This documentary explores the use of nuclear propulsion to complement the chemical fuels used in today's rockets. The film shows a Saturn 5 rocket on its launchpad, launch and flight [including stage separation...

In this video I will be showing you how to change the thermal paste on an AMD A10 series CPU / GPU combo. I was given some Coollabarotory Liquid Ultra Thermal Paste for Christmas, a perfect gift to remedy my A10 CPU GPU combo overheating and being throttled. In this video we will show you how to apply this new thermal grease which is 100% liquid metal and highly conductive. I will show you how to change the thermal paste on a Corsair Hydro H60 liquid cooler. The Hydro H60 water cooler was allowing the AMD A10 APU to reach its thermal limit, causing the CPU to start throttling itself. Hopefully by applying this thermal compound to my Corsair Hydro H60 series closed loop water cooling system we will be able to fix overheating CPU problems. WARNING - This cool laboratory liquid metal thermal...

Ditra Heat, how to install it start to finish. Ditra Heat is a floor warming system made by Schluter, it is a three component system consisting of the Ditra Mat, the cable system and the thermostat, it comes in both 120, and 240 volt. The Ditra mat for the Ditra heat is configured in such a way that the heat wire can be easily inserted and routed through the mat to heat the desired areas, in this case the whole floor was heated, but can also be used to heat different zones. The Ditra mat is installed the same way as the regular Ditra uncoupling membrane, and serves the same function with the added capability of accepting the heat wire. One important difference is that a ¼” square notched trowel is used to spread the thinset instead of the regular Ditra trowel. Once the mat has been install...
