Hero Honda Karizma ZMR

The Hero Karizma ZMR is a motorcycle manufactured in India by Hero Honda. It was a launched as a cosmetic upgrade to Karizma R in September 2009. There is no difference between its engine and that of its predecessor Karizma R. The minor differences lie in the design of fairing, headlights, addition of digital speedometer, rear disc brake and rear swing-arm suspension and the Fuel-injection system instead of the carburettor.

Hero Karizma

Hero Karizma is a not premium motorcycle manufactured by Hero Motocorp. It was first launched in May 2003 and was given a cosmetic upgrade Karizma R in 2007. In September 2009, it was supplemented by another variant Karizma ZMR.

Design

Karizma has been designed specifically for the Indian market. The styling is inspired by Honda VFR800. The instrument panel and the tank recesses are also designed keeping their functionality in mind. The horn has come under criticism for not being loud enough. The sporty seating position has been compared to the Honda CBZ 125 F, and BMW F650.

Engine

Karizma has the tried and tested, but slightly detuned version of 223 cc SOHC air-cooled engine from the CRF230 series of enduro/MX/supermoto bikes that are sold in the USA and South American markets. It has a five-speed gearbox in place of the CRF's six-speed. The engine is an all-aluminium, undersquare engine (bore 65.5 mm or 2.58 in and stroke 66.2 mm or 2.61 in) running a compression ratio of 9:1. It features a Kehlin CV carburettor with a CCVI switch. The Karizma ZMR on the other hand is imbued with Fuel Injection technology.

Bajaj Pulsar

The Bajaj Pulsar is a motorcycle brand owned by Bajaj Auto in India. The two wheeler was developed by the product engineering division of Bajaj Auto in association with Tokyo R&D, and later with motorcycle designer Glynn Kerr. Currently there are five variants available, with engine capacities of 135 cc, 150 cc, 180 cc, 200 cc, and 220 cc. Previously it was also offered with a 200 cc DTS-i oil cooled engine, which now has been discontinued. Instead a new version Pulsar 200NS was launched in 2012. But then Pulsar 200NS production was discontinued in August 2015. With an average monthly sales of around 86,000 units in 2011, Pulsar claimed a 2011 market share of 47% in its segment. By April 2012, more than five million units of Pulsar were sold.

Before the introduction of the Pulsar, the Indian motorcycle market trend was towards fuel efficient, small capacity motorcycles (that formed the 80–125 cc class). Bigger motorcycles with higher capacity virtually did not exist (except for Enfield Bullet). The launch and success of Hero Honda CBZ in 1999 showed that there was demand for performance bikes. Bajaj took the cue from there on and launched the Pulsar twins in India on 24 November 2001. Since the introduction and success of Bajaj Pulsar, Indian youth began expecting high power and other features from affordable motorcycles.

Yamaha YZF-R15

The Yamaha YZF-R15 is a 150 cc single cylinder sport bike motorcycle introduced in 2008. In September 2011, the second edition dubbed the v2 was released in India, and in April 2014 it was released in Indonesia.

Specifications

The R-15's look is inspired from the Yamaha YZF-R6. Unlike the first edition, the v2 has a split-seat design, higher seat height, LED tail light, wide tyres, larger gear ratio (15/47), longer wheelbase, rear mudguard, and redesigned middle and tail section. The engine performance was largely similar, still having a six-speed transmission and a linked type sport suspension added on the back. The 2014 Yamaha YZF-R15 released in Indonesia is largely the same as the 2011 version released in India, but with removed mudguard.

The engine is a 149.8 cc single cylinder [four-stroke engine] with four valves and a single overhead cam. The bore and stroke of the engine are 57.0 mm × 58.7 mm (2.24 in × 2.31 in). The radiator is placed in the front of the engine with a fan behind it. The coolant reserve is on the left side up and behind the radiator. The transmission is return type six-speed with a constant mesh wet multi plate clutch.
