Helsinki (/hɛlˈsɪŋki/; Finnish pronunciation: [ˈhelsiŋki]; Swedish: Helsingfors) is the capital and largest city of Finland. It is in the region of Uusimaa, in southern Finland, on the shore of the Gulf of Finland, an arm of the Baltic Sea. Helsinki has a population of 626,305, an urban population of 1.2 million (31 December 2013), and a metropolitan population of 1.4 million, making it the most populous municipality and urban area in Finland. Helsinki is located some 80 kilometres (50 mi) north of Tallinn, Estonia, 400 km (250 mi) northeast of Stockholm, Sweden, and 388 km (241 mi) west of Saint Petersburg, Russia. Helsinki has close historical connections with these three cities.
The Helsinki metropolitan area includes the urban core of Helsinki, Espoo, Vantaa, Kauniainen, and surrounding commuter towns. It is the world's northernmost metro area of over one million people, and the city is the northernmost capital of an EU member state. The Helsinki metropolitan area is the fourth largest metropolitan area in the Nordic countries and the City of Helsinki is the third largest Nordic city after Stockholm and Oslo.
Finland (i/ˈfɪnlənd/; Finnish: Suomi [suomi]; Swedish: Finland [ˈfɪnland]), officially the Republic of Finland, is a Nordic country in Northern Europe, a peninsula with Gulf of Finland to the south and Gulf of Bothnia to the west. It has land borders with Sweden and Norway to the north and Russia to the east. Finland is part of the geographic region of Fennoscandia, which also includes Scandinavia and parts of Russia.
Finland's population is 5.5 million (2014), staying roughly on the same level with only about 9% increase in 24 years since the last economic depression in 1990. The majority live in the southern regions. The single largest group of foreigners living in Finland are Russians and Estonians, 36% of all of the foreigners (2014). In terms of area, it is the eighth largest country in Europe and the most sparsely populated country in the European Union. Finland is a parliamentary republic with a central government based in the capital Helsinki, local governments in 317 municipalities, and an autonomous region, the Åland Islands. Over 1.4 million people live in the Greater Helsinki metropolitan area, which produces a third of the country's GDP. Other large cities include Tampere, Turku, Oulu, Jyväskylä, Lahti, and Kuopio.
Helsinki Airport or Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (IATA: HEL, ICAO: EFHK; Finnish: Helsinki-Vantaan lentoasema, Swedish: Helsingfors-Vanda flygplats) is the main international airport of the Helsinki metropolitan region and the whole of Finland with about 16 million passengers annually. It serves as the hub for Finnair, the Finnish flag carrier, as well as a base for Blue1, Norwegian Air Shuttle and Nordic Regional Airlines. The airport is located in the city of Vantaa, about 5 kilometres (3 mi) west of Tikkurila, the centre of Vantaa and 9.2 NM (17.0 km; 10.6 mi) north of Helsinki city center. Helsinki Airport is the leading long-haul airport in Northern Europe and a popular transfer point.
Originally built for the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki, the airport nowadays is the fourth busiest airport in the Nordic countries, with 15,948,760 passengers having used the airport in 2014. This number makes up for 81% of the total number of passengers in Finland's 21 commercial airports combined (18,880,940). making it the busiest airport in Finland by far. It provides jobs for 20,000 people and there are 1,500 companies that operate at this airport. The airport is operated by Finavia, the state-owned enterprise that operates Finland's airports.
A shopping mall is a modern, chiefly North American, term for a form of shopping precinct or shopping center, in which one or more buildings form a complex of shops representing merchandisers with interconnecting walkways that enable customers to walk from unit to unit. A shopping arcade is a specific form serving the same purpose. Many early shopping arcades such the Burlington Arcade in London, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan and numerous arcades in Paris are famous and still trading. However, many smaller arcades have been demolished, replaced with large centers or "malls", often accessible by vehicle. Technical innovations such as electric lighting and escalators were introduced from the late 19th century. From the late 20th century, entertainment venues such as movie theaters and restaurants began to be added. As a single built structure, early shopping centers were often architecturally significant constructions, enabling wealthier patrons to buy goods in spaces protected from the weather.
A retail or a shop is a business that presents a selection of goods and offers to trade or sell them to customers for money or other goods. Shopping is an activity in which a customer browses the available goods or services presented by one or more retailers with the intent to purchase a suitable selection of them. In some contexts it may be considered a leisure activity as well as an economic one.
In modern days customer focus is more transferred towards online shopping; worldwide people order products from different regions and online retailers deliver their products to their homes, offices or wherever they want. The B2C (business to consumer) process has made it easy for consumers to select any product online from a retailer's website and have it delivered to the consumer within no time. The consumer does not need to consume his energy by going out to the stores and saves his time and cost of travelling.
The shopping experience can range from delightful to terrible, based on a variety of factors including how the customer is treated, convenience, the type of goods being purchased, and mood.

Heading back to Finland - and specifically Helsinki - was our greatest surprise this summer. As the capital city, it has the attractions any big city offers, yet it somehow retains plenty of small town charm. One of the main reasons is that you're never far from nature. One of my favorite things to do in a new country is to explore local markets and grocery stores and in our latest travel video from Finland we're on a quest to buy some local Finnish foods and goods as presents at a Finnish grocery store in the town of Dalsbruk, Finland (Taalintehdas, Finland). We're going to give you a little tour of a Finnish supermarket and we'll see what strange food items we can find. So smoked salmon is very popular food over here. You eat it with Rye bread. Of the many intriguing aspects of Helsinki, one facet was the capital's obvious love of design. For over 130 years, a national organisation has been promoting design in Finland and there's one part of the city in particular where the shops sparkle like artisanal jewellers of decidedly cool ideas. Helsinki, the capital of Finland, is a small gem to be discovered and because of its size and the surrounding areas it can be easily visited by feet. If you want to see the city at its best then you’ve to go in spring or summer when people go for a picnic in the parks, dine on the terrace and hopping from one event to another. this was our last day in helsinki with Justiina, headed back home to jyvaskyla. we went to this really interesting coffee shop, Cade Regatta, it was really small and had a very communist vibe from the outside decor. pretty hilarious. love helsinki, the weather is so much different than in jyvaskyla. much warmer and just more pleasant. We are at Helsinki Vantaa Airport in Finland. This i a short tour inside the airport where we begin at the Finnair Check-in area in Terminal 2, move down to the check-in area for all flights (also in Terminal 2), where the Junkers A50 aircraft (registration OH-ABB) flown by Finnish aviation pioneer Väinö Bremer hangs on display. From this are we move back to the Finnair check-in area and check in at the Priority Check-in area as our Finnair flight to day is on Business Class. This also means that we will not be passing through the economy class security check but through the Premium Security Control. We then continue our tour in the departures hall where we give viewers a tour through some of the airport highlighting some of the Duty Free shops, specialty shops, restaurants, bars, cafes an...

Of the many intriguing aspects of Helsinki, one facet was the capital's obvious love of design. For over 130 years, a national organisation has been promoting design in Finland and there's one part of the city in particular where the shops sparkle like artisanal jewellers of decidedly cool ideas. While Helsinki may be one of the coldest destinations in the world in winter, summertime with its long days of sunshine, brings out the crowds to this Finnish city located on the shores of the Baltic Sea. With 150 miles of coastline, more than 300 islands, trendy shops and restaurants, as well as loads of historical landmarks and museums, it’s no wonder that so many are discovering this Scandinavian playground. __________________ These video montages presented by Ron Stern, the travel writer and photojournalist also known as The Global Gumshoe, are for editorial purposes only. Our Finnair Business Class flight from Helsinki to Copenhagen was a good experience. Watch the Finnair flight trip report to get an idea of what the Finnair Business Class Experience has to offer on a short haul flight. In this video we have tried to include all aspects of the Business Class experience from the arrival at the airport at Helsinki Vantaa Airport (Helsinki Airport) to disembarkation and baggage pickup at Copenhagen Airport. Our Finnair Business Class Flight Trip Report begins with our arrival at Helsinki Airport where we are busy checking in at Finnair´s Terminal 2 area at the airport. As we are flying Business Class we are using the Priority Check in desks which means that we are able to skip using the very busy Economy Class Check in desks. After checking in we are also pr...
This is a flight review (Tripreport) of our Finnair Economy class flight from Helsinki Airport (HEL) to Bangkok´s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). Our flight footage begin´s at Helsinki Vantaa airport in the international departures area. We have just arrived from Copenhagen (also on a Finnair flight) and are making our way to our Bangkok flights gate, Gate 38. Before arriving at our gate we walk through the airport where the viewer should get an idea of the walking distance and a look at the tax-free shops (duty free), restaurants and bars on the way to the Gate. After we arrive at the gate we show some footage of our own plane, an Airbus A340-300 with registration OH-LQF. Not long after arriving at the gate we begin boarding the aircraft. Viewrs are given a nice look at what the Finnair Airbu...

Here is the last leg on the long trek from Hong Kong to Montreal via Helsinki and London Heathrow, on a British Airways Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner. Our previous flight was Finnair AY831 from Helsinki and we had an 8 hour layover at Heathrow. The layover actually did not feel so long, since there was a lot of opportunity for planespotting inside Terminal 5 and lots of shops and restaurants to enjoy. Like my previous flight on BA, the experience was positive with comfortable seats and excellent food. A definite highlight of this flight was air-to-air footage with a BA Boeing 747-400 flying about 3000 ft below us in the same direction (seen at 17:00). Filmed 12 July 2017 Aircraft: Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner G-ZBJE (38612/173), del. 04/2014 Flight time: 7 hours Departure: London Heathrow Terminal...
In this episode, Katie and Berin talk about how they grocery shop in Finland without a car, versus how they shopped in the United States. How shopping is more of an activity that's incorporporated into walks and trips to other events us contrasted with the station wagon-cramming mega-shops they used to make. -Video Upload powered by https://www.TunesToTube.com
Travel video about destination Suomi in Finland. Suomi: The Land Of A Thousand Lakes. No other European country is as influenced by the interplay of both water and land as Finland. The impressive beauty of its unspoiled scenery is plain to see and yet most of Finland, despite each wonderful aspect of its natural landscape, is still sparsely populated. Its endless forests truly make Finland one of Europe’s last great wildernesses. Only in Finland’s modern capital of Helsinki does the population exceed more than a hundred inhabitants per square kilometre. The city’s cathedral has become one of the most famous landmarks in Helsinki that, along with the general ground plan of the entire city, can be traced back to a Prussian. Carl Ludwig Engel was the man responsible for the building an...
Welcome to my second trip report on my channel. This is my first ever trip onboard Cathay Pacific, for the occasion I started an ex-Eu from Budapest and connected onto CX238 for £1150. For this flight I chose Seat 17A which gave good views of the departing runway over the terminals of Heathrow. I go through each element of the flight and bring to you my experience and service received onboard from the Cathay Crew. The flight was delayed due to the late arrival of the crew and as such the opening of seemed more rushed than compared to other crews I’ve experienced with Qantas and BA. Please leave your comments and enjoy the video. Travel With H Filmed with Canon G7Xii and Manfetto Monopod to keep it steady.
A piece of my performance in bar Pete, unfortunately only 24 minutes recorded from 1.5 hour set.
