South Africa, officially the Republic of South Africa, is the southernmost sovereign state in Africa. It is bounded on the south by 2,798 kilometers of coastline of southern Africa stretching along the South Atlantic and Indian Oceans, on the north by the neighbouring countries of Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, and on the east by Mozambique and Swaziland, and surrounding the kingdom of Lesotho. South Africa is the 25th-largest country in the world by land area, and with close to 53 million people, is the world's 24th-most populous nation. It is the southernmost country on the mainland of the Old World or the Eastern Hemisphere.
South Africa is a multiethnic society encompassing a wide variety of cultures, languages, and religions. Its pluralistic makeup is reflected in the constitution's recognition of 11 official languages, which is among the highest number of any country in the world. Two of these languages are of European origin: Afrikaans developed from Dutch and serves as the first language of most white and coloured South Africans; English reflects the legacy of British colonialism, and is commonly used in public and commercial life, though it is fourth-ranked as a spoken first language.
North America is a continent entirely within the Northern Hemisphere and almost all within the Western Hemisphere. It can also be considered a northern subcontinent of the Americas. It is bordered to the north by the Arctic Ocean, to the east by the Atlantic Ocean, to the west and south by the Pacific Ocean, and to the southeast by South America and the Caribbean Sea.
North America covers an area of about 24,709,000 square kilometers (9,540,000 square miles), about 16.5% of the earth's land area and about 4.8% of its total surface. North America is the third largest continent by area, following Asia and Africa, and the fourth by population after Asia, Africa, and Europe.
In 2013, its population was estimated at nearly 565 million people in 23 independent states, or about 7.5% of the world's population, if nearby islands (most notably the Caribbean) are included.
North America was reached by its first human populations during the last glacial period, via crossing the Bering land bridge. The so-called Paleo-Indian period is taken to have lasted until about 10,000 years ago (the beginning of the Archaic or Meso-Indian period). The Classic stage spans roughly the 6th to 13th centuries. The Pre-Columbian era ended with the arrival of European settlers during the Age of Discovery and the Early Modern period. Present-day cultural and ethnic patterns reflect different kind of interactions between European colonists, indigenous peoples, African slaves and their descendants. European influences are strongest in the northern parts of the continent while indigenous and African influences are relatively stronger in the south. Because of the history of colonialism, most North Americans speak English, Spanish or French and societies and states commonly reflect Western traditions.
Africa is the world's second-largest and second-most-populous continent. At about 30.2 million km2 (11.7 million sq mi) including adjacent islands, it covers six percent of Earth's total surface area and 20.4 percent of its total land area. With 1.1 billion people as of 2013, it accounts for about 15% of the world's human population. The continent is surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea to the north, both the Suez Canal and the Red Sea along the Sinai Peninsula to the northeast, the Indian Ocean to the southeast, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. The continent includes Madagascar and various archipelagos. It contains 54 fully recognized sovereign states (countries), nine territories and two de facto independent states with limited or no recognition.
Africa's population is the youngest amongst all the continents; the median age in 2012 was 19.7, when the worldwide median age was 30.4.Algeria is Africa's largest country by area, and Nigeria by population. Africa, particularly central Eastern Africa, is widely accepted as the place of origin of humans and the Hominidae clade (great apes), as evidenced by the discovery of the earliest hominids and their ancestors, as well as later ones that have been dated to around seven million years ago, including Sahelanthropus tchadensis, Australopithecus africanus, A. afarensis, Homo erectus, H. habilis and H. ergaster – with the earliest Homo sapiens (modern human) found in Ethiopia being dated to circa 200,000 years ago. Africa straddles the equator and encompasses numerous climate areas; it is the only continent to stretch from the northern temperate to southern temperate zones.
Food is any substance consumed to provide nutritional support for the body. It is usually of plant or animal origin, and contains essential nutrients, such as fats, proteins, vitamins, or minerals. The substance is ingested by an organism and assimilated by the organism's cells to provide energy, maintain life, or stimulate growth.
Historically, people secured food through two methods: hunting and gathering and agriculture. Today, the majority of the food energy required by the ever increasing population of the world is supplied by the food industry.
Food safety and food security are monitored by agencies like the International Association for Food Protection, World Resources Institute, World Food Programme, Food and Agriculture Organization, and International Food Information Council. They address issues such as sustainability, biological diversity, climate change, nutritional economics, population growth, water supply, and access to food.
The right to food is a human right derived from the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), recognizing the "right to an adequate standard of living, including adequate food," as well as the "fundamental right to be free from hunger."

BEIJING — The Chinese government has been forced to vehemently deny reports that it is packaging human meat as corned beef and shipping it to grocery stores across Africa. Beijing got its panties in a bunch after several African news outlets reported the allegations made by Facebook user Barbara Akosua Aboagye in a post that was shared more than 26,000 times. The post has since been taken down. South African websites Msanzi Live and Daily Post took it one step further by saying the Chinese were exporting human meat because of the country's overpopulation. They suggested China was having trouble finding space to bury its dead. Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Yang Youming issued a statement on Chinese State Media saying, "Today a local tabloid newspaper is openly spreading a rumor, claimi...

Fruit and Veg City has grown into the largest seller of fruit, vegetables and fresh produce throughout South Africa with a total of 100 stores. Pick n Pay is a leading supermarket and hypermarket chain using many technological retail innovations and a unique supply chain operation.
The refrigerators that supermarkets use to keep products fresh pose a major threat to the global environment, primarily because of ozone-destroying refrigerant hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). Now, a South African supermarket chain is switching to environmentally-friendly refrigerant agents. They save energy, and they're cheaper too.

Africa's largest food retailer has again posted a sterling set of results -- despite poor economic conditions, drought and currency shortages. Shoprite's trading profit for the 6 months to December jumped over 19% to 307 000 dollars. Diluted headline earnings were up over 15%. The company says the impact of the drought sent internal inflation soaring to 7.4% from 2.7% a year ago. It's the highest level seen in several years. But Shoprite says it remains committed to its price-sensitive customers and continues to subsidize a number of basic food items. The group's Africa operations boosted overall performance, growing by almost 52%. Despite regulatory and currency challenges in Nigeria and Angola, both countries were star performers during the period.

The Republic of South Africa with its diversity and unmatched natural makings is often called "Rainbow Country". Scrublands full of game, beaches inviting for a swim, sky-high mountains, picturesque lakes and cities of historic heritage make up the appeal of the country. The Southest point of Africa: the Cape of Good Hope tells us about famous seamen, the Victorian-style city of Cape Town - about Boer settlers and English colonists. Conservated territories, botanic gardens and Africa's most famous wine-producing territory make up the Cape Peninsula. Sun City expects the visitors with hotels, casino, aquapark, golf courses and a theme park. The Lesedi Cultural Village present...
South Africa is not only impressive due to its size but also due to its amazing variety of fascinating scenery. Its paradise-like flora and fauna plus its historic and famous landmarks are totally captivating. Johannesburg is a modern metropolis and with around a million and a half inhabitants is the capital of Gauteng Province and the largest city in South Africa. It was founded in 1886 when gold was first discovered at Witwater Beach. Although European influence is obvious in South Africa the first inhabitants of this fascinating country were of course the various indigenous people of Africa and the village of Lesedi around twenty five kilometres south of Johannesburg provides many insights into ancient Africa’s traditions and dances. Lesedi contains four tiny villages that are inhabi...

There’s an abundance of Cambodian Khmer food and Vietnamese food available at the food court of Central Market, and there’s so much to choose from that it can be challenging to decide where to eat. This week, we had a long ride to Iju Ota in Ogun State, to feature the Wilson’s Lemonade Juice on the Startup Show. Ever since we started the “Go There” episodes, it has never been this adventurous, first the long ride, the roads, the traffic, then the walk through the factory, this would be the first time I will enter a production factory and so it was like an excursion. The first time I saw the Wilson’s Lemonade on the shelves at the Barcelos, I thought that it was a foreign drink and so I ordered it with my friend and we liked it, I looked through the bottle and found that it was a Nigerian drink, being a startup lover, I started digging for info about them immediately. When I got to know it’s pure fruit juice, I thought it was just like the smoothies bar at the back of my office where ...

We started off visiting some attractions in Muscat like the fish market and souk, then had some amazing Omani food, and visited a couple beaches. The highlight of the day for me was eating Omani street food mishkak and an Omani meal of camel and rice. 00:51 Chai karak and cheese bread in the car - A common Omani food breakfast is the combination of tea, which is usually called chai karak, and cheese bread. This is our Hermanus vlog! OMG, first day in Hermanus, western cape, South Africa went very beautifully. Weather was more than perfect. It felt so good on my skin. We had ocean front/beach front dining. The food was absolutely delicious. The food was some of the best foods we've had so far in Hermanus or in South Africa at that point. We enjoyed the sights and sounds of Hermanus. Though we we ate, slept and did some sight seeing, we also did some real estate shopping. We would love to have a place here. Hermanus is a town about 1.5 hour drive east of Cape Town, South Africa. It is known for whale watching. It has a small town feel with big city amenities. I absolutely loved it there. I would love to buy a house in Hermanus. The water front area is nicely developed, it still has a small t...

Cape Town South Africa Tourist guide to the city. "Downloadble Guide coming soon I know what I said in video haha" Cape Town, South Africa is arguably the most visually stunning place in the world. The cost of living in Cape Town is quite good to say the least! While I was visiting as a tourist, it didn’t stop me from going deeper to learn more about the culture and history. And there's a lot of deep, complex history in South Africa, especially in regards to race relations. Being Black myself, I had a lot of questions and I got a lot different answers. I could do a whole video on just the topic, but I will save that for another video. The one thing I did hear often was that there is progress being made. Rene and I took the opportunity to explore this amazing city in the shor...
