KTM

KTM-Sportmotorcycle AG is an Austrian motorcycle manufacturer, which was formed in 1992 but traces its foundation as early as in 1934. In 1992 the company was spun off from its parent company KTM when it ran into financial troubles. KTM was split into four companies, all of which shared the same KTM branding, and in present have many more subsidiaries with the same branding. However, KTM-Sportmotorcycle is most commonly associated with the KTM brand, because it still continues the flagship business of its parent company.

KTM is known for its off road motorcycles though in recent years it has expanded into street motorcycle production and also developing a sports car.

History

Foundation

In 1934 an Austrian engineer Johann (Hans) Trunkenpolz set up a metalworking and locksmith shop in Mattighofen. In 1937 he started selling DKW motorcycles and Opel cars the following year. His shop was known as Kraftfahrzeug Trunkenpolz Mattighofen but the name was unregistered. During the Second World War his wife took care of the business which grew mainly of diesel engine repairs.

Royal Enfield

Royal Enfield was the brand name under which the Enfield Cycle Company (founded 1893) manufactured motorcycles, bicycles, lawnmowers and stationary engines. The first Royal Enfield motorcycle was built in 1901; the original British concern was defunct by 1970. The Enfield Cycle Company is responsible for the design and original production of the Royal Enfield Bullet, the longest-lived motorcycle design in history.

Like other motorcycle manufacturers such as BSA and IZhMASh, the Enfield Cycle Company began business as a weapons manufacturer, most famous for the Enfield rifle. This legacy is reflected in the company logo, a cannon, and their motto, "Made Like A Gun".

In 1955, Enfield Cycle Company partnered with Madras Motors in India in forming Enfield of India, based in Chennai, and started assembling the 350cc Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle in Madras. The first machines were assembled from components imported from England. Starting in 1957, Enfield of India acquired the machines necessary to build components in India, and by 1962 all components were made in India.

KTM 200 Duke

The KTM 200 Duke is a naked motorcycle made by KTM available in Europe, Australia, Nepal, Hong Kong, India, Korea, Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Colombia, Mexico and Argentina. It has a single-cylinder, 4-stroke, spark-ignition liquid-cooled engine.

Bike Details

The Duke 200 is a single cylinder naked bike powered by a 199.5cc, four-stroke, fuel-injected powerplant with liquid-cooling, four-valves and a close ratio six-speed gearbox. The 200 Duke makes 25bhp at 10000rpm. The duke 200 is fitted with a six-speed transmission with the gear ratios set with preference to city riding and a mechanically actuatued multi-disc clutch. The bike has an underbelly exhaust and a three-chamber silencer positioned close to the machine's overall centre of gravity.

Manufacturing

The Duke 200 is manufactured at Bajaj Autos Chakan Plant in India. In Colombia, it is being assembled by the company Auteco S.A. In Argentina, is being assembled by the company Simpa S.A. since March 2014.

Stunt performer

A stunt performer, often referred to as a stuntman or daredevil, is someone who performs dangerous stunts, often as a career. The French word that describes it is cascadeur; and it is used as-is in other languages (e.g., in Greek, it is called κασκαντέρ)

Overview

A stuntman typically performs stunts intended for use in a motion picture or dramatized television. Stunts seen in films and television include car crashes, falls from great height, drags (for example, behind a horse) and explosions.

There is an inherent risk in the performance of all stunt work. The most risk exists when performing stunts in front of a live audience. In filmed performances, visible safety mechanisms can be removed by editing. In live performances the audience can see more clearly if the performer is genuinely doing what they claim or appear to do. To reduce the risk of injury or death, most often stunts are choreographed or mechanically-rigged so that, while they look dangerous, safety mechanisms are built into the performance. But however well choreographed exercises they appear to be, stunts are still very dangerous and physically testing exercises.
