The United States of America (USA), commonly referred to as the United States (U.S.) or America, is a federal republic composed of 50 states, a federal district, five major territories and various possessions. The 48 contiguous states and Washington, D.C., are in central North America between Canada and Mexico. The state of Alaska is in the northwestern part of North America and the state of Hawaii is an archipelago in the mid-Pacific. The territories are scattered about the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. At 3.8 million square miles (9.842 million km²) and with over 320 million people, the country is the world's third or fourth-largest by total area and the third most populous. It is one of the world's most ethnically diverse and multicultural nations, the product of large-scale immigration from many countries. The geography and climate of the United States are also extremely diverse, and the country is home to a wide variety of wildlife.

Noticias Telemundo

Noticias Telemundo (Spanish pronunciation: [noˈtisjas teleˈmundo], Telemundo News) is the news division of Telemundo, an American Spanish language broadcast television network that is owned by NBCUniversal Hispanic Enterprises and Content, a subsidiary of the NBCUniversal Television Group division of NBCUniversal. The news division is based out of the network's facilities in the Miami suburb of Hialeah, Florida.

The division produces a flagship nightly early-evening newscast, Noticiero Telemundo, focusing on international news and stories of relevance to the network's main target demographic of Hispanic and Latino Americans. Other programs produced by the news division include morning news-talk show Un Nuevo Día, newsmagazine series Al Rojo Vivo con Maria Celeste, and Sunday morning political affairs program Enfoque con Jose Diaz-Balart.

Noticias Telemundo maintains bureaus located at many of the network's television stations across the United States (particularly those owned by parent subsidiary Telemundo Station Group, that are owned-and-operated stations of the network) and throughout Latin America, and uses video content from English language sister network NBC's news division NBC News.

WLII-DT

WLII-DT, channel 11, is a Univision owned-and-operated television station that is licensed to Caguas, Puerto Rico. The station is owned by Univision Communications, and is sister to independent station WSTE-DT (channel 7) and radio stations WKAQ (580 AM) and WKAQ-FM (104.7);. WLII's studios and transmitter are located in Guaynabo.

WLII operates a satellite station, WSUR-DT (channel 9), in Ponce. Locally owned WOLE-DT (channel 12) in Aguadilla repeats over 95% of WLII's programming under an affiliation agreement.

History

Telecadena Perez-Perry

In 1960, Rafael Perez Perry received authorization from the government to start WKBM-TV, broadcasting on channel 11, as part of his new Telecadena Perez-Perry chain of television stations. Some of the shows that WKBM-TV aired throughout those years included: Una Hora Contigo and Tira y Tapate with Myrta Silva, Yo Soy el Gallo with José Miguel Class, El Show de Carmita with Carmita Jiménez, El Show de Lissette, El Show de Iris Chacón, El Hit del Momento and El Super Show Goya with Enrique Maluenda, Lillian Hurst and Luz Odilea Font, Una Chica llamada: Ivonne Coll, Cambia Cambia con Alfred D. Herger, Almorzando and Del Brazo with Ruth Fernández, and Mediodia Circular with Vilma Carbia. At the time, Perez Perry owned one of the most successful radio stations on the island, WKVM (810 AM). Unfortunately, Perez-Perry died of unknown causes in the late 1970s; his death eventually resulted in WKBM-TV declaring bankruptcy in 1981. The station went silent that year. Its former competition benefited from WKBM's demise – not only from a reduction in competition itself, but also from the availability of many of the stations' former hosts and talent.

De La Ghetto

Rafael Castillo (born September 17, 1984), better known by his stage name De La Ghetto, is an American reggaeton singer-songwriter originally of the duo Arcángel & De La Ghetto.

Biography

Rafael was born in New York and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He was born to a Dominican father and Puerto Rican mother. In 2004, he collaborated with reggaeton artist Arcángel (born Austin Santos) to form the duo Arcángel & De la Ghetto; the group debuted with the single "Pégate", which was featured on Naldo's mixtape Sangre Nueva in 2005. He along with Arcángel signed to Zion's label Baby Records, and have appeared on numerous reggaeton albums including the compilation Mas Flow: Los Benjamins. In 2006, De la Ghetto began his solo career and appeared the next year on two hit singles, the remix of "Siente el Boom" by Tito el Bambino and a collaboration with Randy, "Sensación del Bloque". De la Ghetto's solo debut album which has been watched on YouTube over 26 million times. Masacre Musical was released in 2008.Masacre Musical peaked at #46 on the Billboard Top Latin Albums chart in the U.S.; its single "Tu te Imaginas" peaked at #33 on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks chart.

José Díaz-Balart

José Díaz-Balart is an American news program that aired on MSNBC and was hosted by Cuban-American journalist Jose Diaz-Balart. The show was broadcast from Miami & aired in the 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. timelot on weekdays, following after The Daily Rundown with Chuck Todd, which aired in the 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. timeslot on weekdays. The show was absorbed into the new, two-hour version of The Daily Rundown, The Rundown with José Diaz-Balart, hosted by Diaz-Balart.
