Vacation travel video about destination Malawi in Africa. Malawi is the unknown Africa in the south-east of the Continent. A wild country between sea and highlands, a land of contrasts with amazing green mountains and high plateaus but most of all, Lake Malawi. In the north west and on the border with Zambia is the thousand square kilometre Vwaza Marsh Wildlife Reserve, home to more than two hundred elephants who, in small groups, visit the Kazuni Safari Camp on their way to the lake. In the Lake Kazuni area there are many hippos and crocodiles which although rarely seen from the shore can certainly be heard at night. The location of the small town of Nkhata Bay is quite spectacular, a large, sheltered bay, accessible via a steep slope. Small boats transport the local people to various loc...

Five years ago, Malawi was one of the 10 poorest countries in the world. And when President Bingu wa Mutharika stepped into office, the countrys economy was literally in tatters. It faced one of the worst food security situations in the world, there was no money in governments coffers, and countrys infrastructure was in a state. The first step on the Presidents to-do list was to rekindle relationships with the donor community.
Tanzania's Finance minister expects economic growth to reach 7.2 percent in 2016 up from 7 percent last year. Budget spending for the fiscal year starting in July will also rise 2.2 percent. Philip Mpango presented the document outlining budget plans for 2016/17 to parliament. And this will be the first indication of spending plans under the new administration of President John Magufuli, who was elected in October 2015. And in Malawi, the finance ministry says growth will pick to more than 4 percent in 2016 from about 3 percent last year as the country recovers from a drought caused by the El Nino weather pattern. Agriculture accounts for almost a third of Malawi's economy and provides a livelihood for 80 percent of the population. The kwacha has also been hit by a loss of donor funds be...

Malawi's economy has grown literally from 0 to the current 7.9% as a result of some sound macroeconomic policies and government's agricultural subsidy programme. This programme has received much criticism from the international donor community, a relationship which was key in getting the country's economy off the ground when Bingu wa Mutharika came into power as President in 2004. Sue Beukes spoke to the president and asked him how he managed to balance the relationship between the much need donor support and implementing his agricultural subsidy programme.

It is known as the warm heart of Africa - Malawi. Its quite and peaceful environment is a prerequisite for investment as this assures investors to have a better environment to do their business. It is against this background that a social commentator on economics Patrick Achitabwino emphasizes the need for Malawi to maintain better ties with China if the country is to develop as a fast rate.
Malawi's economy is built on the backbone of the smallholder farmer. Many farmers, however face obstacles in growing their businesses. They lack access to bank accounts, and cash is risky. Feed the Future Malawi Mobile Project uses digital financial services to improve the Malawi agriculture value chain and farmers' economic resilience. USAID can help missions and partners identify specific challenges in value chains and corresponding DFS solutions to increase digital financial inclusion for smallholder farmers. Digital financial services help USAID projects run more efficiently and allow farmers to connect to the financial ecosystem, giving them tools to support their economic livelihoods long after the projects have ended. UCL is hosting an exhibition of photographs chronicling the university's involvement in a project to improve mother and and child health in rural Africa. The UCL Centre for International Health and Development established the MaiMwana Project in Malawi in 2002. Maternal mortality in the country is among the highest in the world and neonatal mortality is also high and accounts for almost half of all infant deaths. High mortality rates are partly a result of poor health care for mothers and their children thanks to a lack of drugs and supplies, high turnover of health service providers, variable service quality and lack of ownership by local communities. The MaiMwana Project aims to reduce mother and child mortality and morbidity by mobilising women's groups in local communities...

Health Poverty has a huge impact on the health of the population in Malawi. Poverty results in high levels of malnutrition, a lack of clean water, poor sanitation and a severe shortage or even absence of the most basic health care. Malawi's women and children are particularly affected: 183 in every 1000 children fail to reach their fifth birthday. In addition killer diseases such as malaria and tuberculosis and the HIV/AIDS pandemic also take an enormous toll on the lives and quality of life of families and communities across the country. Mr Cooley and Mrs Drew explain what the upcoming All Night Sponsored Sports event, taking place on the night between the 14th and 15th February 2014, will entail and where the money raised is going. Medic Malawi is a small charity that funds a rural community hospital in Mtunthama, Malawi, which opened in 2001 together with a clinic for feeding the malnourished and an orphanage for over 70 children. This charity is special because every penny raised goes to Malawi -- there are no UK administration costs or salaries. Recently, money has been donated to build a new Eye Clinic within the hospital - providing life-changing sight-restoring operations to those that would not have access to them otherwise.

It extends more than six hundred kilometres from north to south, is up to eighty kilometres wide and in some sections is over seven hundred metres deep.To explore the third largest lake in East Africa we begin north of Malawi's eastern coast at Thunduzi Beach in the Chilumba region. Lilongwe is Malawi’s Capital City, named after the great Lilongwe River that flows into Lake Malawi. It is an exceptionally green city with trees and patches of grassland covering a great deal of the city. For centuries Lilongwe was a small fishing village on the banks of the River Lilongwe. It is at the centre of the country near the borders of Mozambique and Zambia and was used as an administrative centre by Colonial Britain. The city is divided into New and Old. The Old Town to the South is based around the centuries old fishing village while New Town or Capital City grew up after President Banda moved the capital here from Zomba. The team finished off Malawi's 2016 country tour with Likoma Island. We traveled on the MV Ilala from Monkey-port. It was one lovely and adventurous tour we have ever had. MV Ilala is a motor ship that has sailed on Lake Malawi since 1951. She is operated by Malawi Shipping Company (MSC) and based in Monkey Bay, Malawi (on the southern end of the lake). Every week she crosses the lake all the way north to Chilumba, Malawi, near Tanzania (about 300 miles (480 km) from Monkey Bay) and then returns to Monkey Bay. She carries both passengers and freight, and calls at major towns on both the Malawian and Mozambican coast, as well as at the two inhabited islands of the lake (Likoma and Chizumulu). Though old, she remains the most important means of long-distance transport for the people livin...

Vacation travel video about destination Liwonde National Park in Malawi. The Liwonde National Park is situated in Central Africa and is Malawi’s most well known game reserve.Up until 1962 unrestricted poaching and hunting almost entirely eradicated the wildlife population of the region but in 1969 it was designated as a game reserve and, in 1973, as a national park. The Shire River is the region’s lifeline and more than two thousand hippos inhabit a forty kilometre section of the park. The park’s elephants are no longer slaughtered for their valuable tusks and their numbers, too, are increasing substantially. At the park’s watering holes groups of animals repeatedly gather to drink, an ideal opportunity to observe animals in the wild. Thankfully, the Liwonde National Park is now a natura...

New York City's got a colder winter
Than where I live this time of year.
I wouldn't know cuz I missed my flight
And went out instead.
Handful of friends with some dynamite
Set to explode if you do it right.
Right off a cliff on a Saturday night.
Should have stayed at home.
I never would have met her there.
OH! OH NO!
She's my biggest mistake.
I never knew about her.
OH! OH NO!
She's my biggest mistake.
I should have listened to the first time
Mitch Ryder warned me
About the psycho with the blue dress on.
I tried to run but she's so so good at keeping up.
I had it coming or so they said.
Right off the pages of a gossip thread.
If only I had just stayed in bed.
Gonna sue Jet Blue for everything they put me through.
OH! OH NO!
She's my biggest mistake.
I never knew about her.
OH! OH NO!
She's my biggest mistake.
OH! OH NO!
She's my biggest mistake.
(Biggest mistake, biggest mistake)
I never knew about her.
OH! OH NO!
She's my biggest mistake.
Wake me up from the nightmare I'm in.
She's a certified psycho and she's pulling me in.
Wake me up from the nightmare I'm in.
She's a certified psycho.
Can anybody help me out?
OH! OH NO!
She's my biggest mistake.
I never knew about her.
OH! OH NO!
She's my biggest mistake.
[x2]
OH! OH NO!
She's my biggest mistake.
