Kyle Smith (born 1966) is an American critic, novelist and essayist. He is a staff film critic for the New York Post. A writer in Entertainment Weekly described Smith's film-reviewing style "an exercise in hilarious hostility". He has been dubbed "America's most cantankerous film critic" by The Atlantic magazine. Smith has also contributed to The Wall Street Journal,People magazine,New York magazine, The New York Times,Commentary (magazine) and The Weekly Standard.
Smith graduated from East Longmeadow (Massachusetts) High School in 1984, and graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Yale University. Smith served in the U.S. Army during the Persian Gulf War, holding the rank of lieutenant. From 1996 to 2005 he worked at People magazine as editor of book and music reviews.
Smith has published two books, in addition to his newspaper and magazine features, film reviews, and essays.
Love Monkey is a comic novel about a cynical, self-deprecating journalist named Tom Farrell and his romantic tribulations in New York City. The book was first published by William Morrow in 2004. A New York Times article described the book as a guys' version of such popular chick-lit novels as Bridget Jones's Diary and Melissa Bank's, The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing and cited Nick Hornby's books About a Boy and High Fidelity as inspiration for Love Monkey. Times critic Janet Maslin called the book "hilarious".Entertainment Weekly called the book "relentlessly cynical" and concluded that "'Monkey,' like the paper Tom writes for, is loud and brash, but a helluva lot of fun".Time magazine said, "You couldn't ask for a more entertaining drinking buddy--watch out for a memorable strip-club meltdown scene--but there's a deep, dark subway of despair running underneath his riffs, and that's what makes the book more than a standup routine....'Love Monkey' nails it."

Kyle Andrew Smith (born June 15, 1969) is an American college basketball coach and the current men's basketball head coach at Columbia University. Prior to joining the Lions, Smith was associate head coach at Saint Mary's, where he was responsible for running the offense and heading up the recruiting activities. In his final season at Saint Mary's Smith helped guide the Gaels to two wins in the NCAA tournament and an appearance in the Sweet 16. Upon his hire by Columbia, St. Mary's head coach Randy Bennett commented “He will be very successful, He has been a huge part of what we’ve done [at St. Mary’s]. It’s been he and I together—it’s been like having a co-coach.”
Smith was a member of New York's Hamilton College men's basketball team that achieved a 26–1 record his junior season and achieved the national Division III #1 ranking. Additionally, University of Richmond head men's basketball coach Chris Mooney referred to Smith as "the smartest man in college basketball. I think he has the best feel and overview of basketball programs and coaching of anyone I've ever met."

Andrew Ahyim Aplin (born March 21, 1991) is an American professional baseball outfielder for the Houston Astros' Minor League Baseball organization. Prior to playing professionally, he attended Arizona State University, where he played college baseball for the Arizona State Sun Devils.
Aplin was born Suisun City, California, but lived in the Phoenix metropolitan area in the mid-1990s. When he was six, his family moved back to California. Aplin attended Vanden High School in Fairfield, California. After graduating, the New York Yankees selected Aplin in the 33rd round of the 2009 MLB Draft. He did not sign, and instead enrolled at Arizona State University in order to play college baseball for the Arizona State Sun Devils baseball team.
The Houston Astros selected Aplin in the fifth round, with the 159th overall selection, of the 2012 MLB Draft. He signed quickly, and made his professional debut for the Tri-City ValleyCats of the Class A-Short Season New York-Pennsylvania League.

In 1996, Smith began his collegiate career at San Diego State University. He started nine of the fifteen games he played that season, scoring one goal. Smith then transferred to Santa Clara University where he was a three year starter. In 1999, Santa Clara was runner-up to the Indiana Hoosiers in the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Championship. In 2001, Smith had an invitation-only trial with the Seattle Sounders of the USL A-League. Smith played for the Sounders until 2004. Both during his time with the Sounders and after his retirement, Smith coached youth soccer in the Seattle area. In 2011, Smith became an assistant coach with the San Diego State Aztecs men’ soccer team. In 2012, he moved up to become the Director of Soccer Operations at San Diego State.
