V (2009 TV series)

V is an American science fiction television series that ran for two seasons on ABC, from November 3, 2009 to March 15, 2011. A remake of the 1983 miniseries created by Kenneth Johnson, the new series chronicles the arrival on Earth of a technologically-advanced alien species which ostensibly comes in peace, but actually has sinister motives.V stars Morena Baccarin, Lourdes Benedicto, Morris Chestnut, Joel Gretsch, Logan Huffman, Charles Mesure, Elizabeth Mitchell, Laura Vandervoort, and Scott Wolf, and was executive produced by Scott Rosenbaum, Yves Simoneau, Scott Peters, Steve Pearlman, and Jace Hall. The series was produced by The Scott Peters Company, HDFilms and Warner Bros. Television.

Carefree Terry finds himself in trouble with the law as a result of a DWI arrest, forcing him to do community service with Kelly, a promiscuous classmate from high school. Sanitation worker Sal lives with his unwitting wife Meghan in an apartment by the beach, but as they struggle to start a family he begins to yearn for the life he had as a teen. Nate has a bachelor's degree in communications but works as a bartender at his Uncle Sean's pirate-themed pub, where he quenches the thirst of countless barflies and occasionally takes a crack at finding love. Longing for a new beginning as she continues to mourn the loss of her father who died in the attacks of September 11th, 2001, Lina ends her nine year relationship with Eric, a recent law school graduate with mounds of student debt, and moves to New York City. Meanwhile Eric, coping with the disruption of comfort that an almost decade-long relationship provides, seeks new romance in Christine, a fiscally secure hair salon owner with no college education. Equal parts provoking, routine, and juvenile, these lives intertwine over the course of a year as they struggle with adult responsibility, love loss, and the aftermath Hurricane Sandy, ultimately pushing each others lives forward while remaining stagnant on Long Island.

We never realize how fragile our connections with people really are. This film plays with the strings that bind friends and family, and it sometimes pulls too hard.
