Starting from Edward Delaney's Famine Memorial, and starting a recording on an older mobile phone for a parallel recording, on the north east corner of the Green, before walking through the Christmas market along St Stephen's Green North, towards the Shopping Centre. Dublin's LUAS (Irish for Speed) tram system operates on 750V DC with overhead wires. There are two lines but this video only shows the red line between Connolly & Heuston stations with both lineside clips and video taken on-board. The trams are Citadis trams built by Alstom and are of two different models although the earlier 3000 class trams have since had two more articulated sections incorporated and are similar in appearance to the 4000 Class trams.
There are currently two Luas main lines. The Green line commenced operations on 30 June 2004, while the Red Line opened on 26 September 2004. Since the initial opening both lines have been extended and 'split' into different branches. As of July 2011, the system had 54 stations and 38.2 kilometres (23.7 mi) of track. The Luas is operated by Veolia Transport, under tender from the Railway Procurement Agency (RPA). It is a major part of the Dublin Transportation Office's strategy (2000--2016). There are several extensions as well as new lines at the planning stage. (wikipedia)
A red line month in a stall out year,
but then it crashed somehow and we landed here.
In your doorway on a fall day, I try and salvaged what I can.
Say that if I could hit stop I'd rewind tonight.
But then I guess some things are just black or white in your eyes.
So goodbye never had a chance I realize.
It's been sparks in gasoline and we got lit up, ignite.
I was part way through a dream when it blew up tonight.
So so long. Alone and halfway gone.
I try and find my way but I get lost in thought
on neon streets in parking lots.
A long walk where I belong.
I try and find my way but I get lost in thought
on neon streets in parking lots (tonight).
Up there's where they say heaven lies.
Know it's just black clouds in a dirty sky.
I'd call you but it's risky because I make no sense on whiskey.
With all my jumbled thoughts strewn across the floor,
I know they all read wrong so I write some more.
Some failed tries, my pen dies.
All a waste of time I realize.
I guess everything falls apart.
Loose lips sing ships and hopeful hearts.
Tonight I'll sit here soaking.
