Lilacs are one of the most evocative of flowers, probably due to the intoxicating aroma when in bloom. There is truly nothing like a large planting of Lilacs to induce adolescent behavior, including the shedding of garments, throwing of frisbees, playing of hacky-sack and all sorts of other activities.
The Latin name for this plant is Syringa vulgaris. The genus name is from the Greek work for 'pipe,' syrinx. This refers to the hollow stems. Of course this is also the source of the word 'syringe.' The species name is Latin for 'common,' not 'vulgar.' Although some definitions of these words in English coincide, we often think of 'vulgar' as something a bit worse than 'common.' There is nothing vulgar about Lilac, except when it is beset with powdery mildew, but more on that later. Lilacs share the Olive family (Oleacaea) with Ash, Olive and Forsythia, among other common plants.
Lilacs are fairly easy to grow, given average garden soil and good sun exposure. They can be purchased at any garden center, big-box store or some grocery stores, usually in pots, but also balled-and- burlapped. Plant in spring, water the first year or two, and they will soon pay off with fantastic aromatic blooms. The flower colors range from purple and lilac to white and pink. Some carmen flowers are as close to red as can be expected, but no true blue has so far been developed, although it's not for lack of trying. You can also extend the season of bloom by choosing your cultivars and hybrids wisely. There is also a tree lilac, S. reticulata, which blooms white in June into July, and is a handsome specimen, good for street tree plantings. There are also choice to make concerning size. Some dwarf varieties grow only four to five feet in height, with a spread of a half or two-thirds of this. Some types will grow thirty feet, although one can control the size (see below).
There are a couple of critters to bear in mind when growing lilacs. The insect to look out for is the Ash Borer, which also, interestingly enough, attacks Ash trees. These clear-winged moth-like adults lay eggs on the bark, and when the larvae hatch, they eat into the wood (more accurately, the cambium layer), leaving the sawdust and a hole for the tell-tale indicators of infestation. There are some insecticides and traps that are used for these bugs, but the best bet is to prune out the older wood, which is most attractive to
the adults. More on that later. The other pest common to Lilac is powdery mildew, a fungal disease that doesn't seem to harm a healthy plant, but does ruin the aesthetic value. I have seen inferstations so bad that the health of the plant was very compromised, but I haven't seen it as the main factor in mortality.
Pruning of Lilacs should be undedrtaken after bloom, and the idea is to take out the oldest canes, right to the ground. The Lilac sends out several stalks over time, and if you can imagine having planted one five years ago, you could take out the five-year old cane(s), leaving the younger ones to bloom. You will control the height of the plant, encourage bloom on younger more vigorous canes and also remove the older more textured bark that attracts the female Ash boreer when it comes time to lay eggs. It is also good to prune off or pinch out the flower stalks before the shrub sets seed. This will encourage a better bloom the following year.
Lilacs are a one-season wonder, with little to recommend them the rest of the year: no fall color, no interesting seed pods or winter bark interest. But the impact of their bloom more than makes up for this short-coming. Use them in the shrub border, near a path to the front door, as a specimen or a screen. By way of disclaimer, be sure when they are in bloom that any disrobing you undertake is done appropriately, be careful when throwing frisbees to avoid cars and other dangerous obstacles and playing hacky-sack can result in minor tendon pain.

Finally! It took long enough! I don't know why, but this time around I had sooo much trouble with exporting, it took a week's worth of constant exporting to get right. For some reason there was a clip that got distorted EVER TIME. I even tried re-recording it. The thing is though, exporting it as a stand alone the video with prior and following scense it would export fine... I ended up having to settle with exporting the video into two parts and joining them afterwards to solve my issue.

Syringa vulgaris
Syringa vulgaris (lilac or common lilac) is a species of flowering plant in the olive family Oleaceae, native to the Balkan Peninsula, where it grows on rocky hills. This species is widely cultivated as an ornamental and has been naturalized in other parts of Europe (UK, France, Germany, Italy, etc.) as well as much of North America. It is not regarded as an aggressive species, found in the wild in widely scattered sites, usually in the vicinity of past or present human habitations.
Description
Syringa vulgaris is a large deciduous shrub or multi-stemmed small tree, growing to 6–7 m (20–23 ft) high, producing secondary shoots ("suckers") from the base or roots, with stem diameters of up to 20 cm (8 in), which in the course of decades may produce a small clonal thicket. The bark is grey to grey-brown, smooth on young stems, longitudinally furrowed and flaking on older stems. The leaves are simple, 4–12 cm (2–5 in) and 3–8 cm broad, light green to glaucous, oval to cordate, with pinnate leaf venation, a mucronate apex and an entire margin. They are arranged in opposite pairs or occasionally in whorls of three. The flowers have a tubular base to the corolla 6–10 mm long with an open four-lobed apex 5–8 mm across, usually lilac to mauve, occasionally white. They are arranged in dense, terminal panicles 8–18 cm (3–7 in) long. The fruit is a dry, smooth brown capsule, 1–2 cm long, splitting in two to release the two winged seeds.

Freedom Planet
Freedom Planet is a two-dimensional platform video game created by independent developer GalaxyTrail, a studio set up for the project by designer Stephen DiDuro. The player controls one of three anthropomorphic animal protagonists: the dragon Lilac, the wildcat Carol, or the basset hound Milla. Aided by the duck-like Torque, the player attempts to defeat the evil Lord Brevon, who plans to conquer the galaxy. While the game focuses on fast-paced platforming, its levels are interspersed with slower action scenes.
Freedom Planet began development as a Sonic the Hedgehog fangame, but DiDuro lost interest in creating a derivative work and reconceived the project as his own intellectual property. He visited the website DeviantArt to recruit artist Ziyo Ling, who replaced the existing cast of characters with her own. Lilac, originally a hedgehog, became a dragon; antagonist Doctor Eggman was replaced by Brevon; and the Sonic series' ring-based health system was abandoned. Further changes were suggested by fans and incorporated throughout development. Though Freedom Planet was developed in Denmark and the United States, its art direction has East Asian influences: its background visuals were inspired by medieval Chinese art, and the game's title is written in katakana.

Lilac Wine
"Lilac Wine" is a song written by James Shelton (lyrics and music) in 1950. It was introduced by Hope Foye in the short-lived theater musical revue, Dance Me a Song. The song has since been covered by many famous artists including Eartha Kitt, Nina Simone, Elkie Brooks, John Legend, Jeff Buckley, Jeff Beck, Miley Cyrus and The Cinematic Orchestra.
Lyrics
The lyrics form a narrative in which the narrator recounts his/her heartache at losing a lover and taking solace from wine made from a lilac tree. In short, the song focuses on the blissful oblivion achieved by becoming intoxicated. The inspiration was taken from a line in the 1925 novel Sorrow in Sunlight (published in America as Prancing Nigger) by Ronald Firbank. In Chapter IV the main character, Miami Mouth, circulates through a party "offering a light, lilac wine, sweet and heady".
Cover versions
"Lilac Wine" has been covered by a number of artists including Eartha Kitt (1953), Judy Henske on her debut, self-titled album (1963), Nina Simone on her album Wild Is the Wind (1966), Elkie Brooks (1978) and Jeff Buckley on his album Grace (1994). Miley Cyrus
Miley Ray Cyrus (born Destiny Hope Cyrus; November 23, 1992) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress. The Art
The Art (sometimes stylised as THEART) are an Australian Alternative Rock band based in Sydney. They began performing under the name The Follow in 2004. Tasmanian band leader Azaria Byrne was known as an unsuccessful contestant on the reality television series Popstars.
Early highlights for the band's career have been supporting successful bands such as the Pixies, Marilyn Manson, Nine Inch Nails, Sonic Youth and Thirty Seconds to Mars as late as 2010, however this was marred by the crowd booing and calls to "get off the stage".
As band leader Azaria Byrne enters middle age success has so far eluded him despite media attention resulting from his being cuckolded by the even older fading celebrity Bill Corgan.
The other band members have all been described as "dull" but this could also be a result of the attention seeking behavior of their singer.

Lilac has received the least changes from the first Freedom Planet, but she still has some new tricks up her sleeve! Her Boost Breaker lets her jump out of her boosts while leaving behind a damaging explosion. She also benefits greatly from the new Guarding mechanic - which allows you to block/parry enemy attacks with proper timing - as well as Reviving, which lets you spend an extra life on the spot to get back up. (Careful though - you'll still go down in one hit!) Finally, Lilac can gain access to a set of Wing Gliders later in the game that enhance her Dragon Boost. -

Plot: "Twinkletoes" Minasi wants to be a great dancer like her deceased mother. Twink meets Chuck Lightfoot, a noted prizefighter, who falls in love with her at first sight. Lilac - Syringa vulgaris - How to grow Lilac
Lilacs are one of the most evocative of flowers, probably due to the intoxicating aroma when in bloom. There is truly nothing like a large planting of Lilacs to induce adolescent behavior, including the shedding of garments, throwing of frisbees, playing of hacky-sack and all sorts of other activities. The Latin name for this plant is Syringa vulgaris. The genus name is from the Greek work for 'pipe,' syrinx. This refers to the hollow stems. Of course this is also the source of the word 'syringe.' The species name is Latin for 'common,' not 'vulgar.' Although some definitions of these words in English coincide, we often think of 'vulgar' as something a bit worse than 'common.' There is nothing vulgar about Lilac, except when it is beset with powdery mildew, but more on that later. ...

Lilacs are one of the most evocative of flowers, probably due to the intoxicating aroma when in bloom. There is truly nothing like a large planting of Lilacs to induce adolescent behavior, including the shedding of garments, throwing of frisbees, playing of hacky-sack and all sorts of other activities.
The Latin name for this plant is Syringa vulgaris. The genus name is from the Greek work for 'pipe,' syrinx. This refers to the hollow stems. Of course this is also the source of the word 'syringe.' The species name is Latin for 'common,' not 'vulgar.' Although some definitions of these words in English coincide, we often think of 'vulgar' as something a bit worse than 'common.' There is nothing vulgar about Lilac, except when it is beset with powdery mildew, but more on that later. Lilacs share the Olive family (Oleacaea) with Ash, Olive and Forsythia, among other common plants.
Lilacs are fairly easy to grow, given average garden soil and good sun exposure. They can be purchased at any garden center, big-box store or some grocery stores, usually in pots, but also balled-and- burlapped. Plant in spring, water the first year or two, and they will soon pay off with fantastic aromatic blooms. The flower colors range from purple and lilac to white and pink. Some carmen flowers are as close to red as can be expected, but no true blue has so far been developed, although it's not for lack of trying. You can also extend the season of bloom by choosing your cultivars and hybrids wisely. There is also a tree lilac, S. reticulata, which blooms white in June into July, and is a handsome specimen, good for street tree plantings. There are also choice to make concerning size. Some dwarf varieties grow only four to five feet in height, with a spread of a half or two-thirds of this. Some types will grow thirty feet, although one can control the size (see below).
There are a couple of critters to bear in mind when growing lilacs. The insect to look out for is the Ash Borer, which also, interestingly enough, attacks Ash trees. These clear-winged moth-like adults lay eggs on the bark, and when the larvae hatch, they eat into the wood (more accurately, the cambium layer), leaving the sawdust and a hole for the tell-tale indicators of infestation. There are some insecticides and traps that are used for these bugs, but the best bet is to prune out the older wood, which is most attractive to
the adults. More on that later. The other pest common to Lilac is powdery mildew, a fungal disease that doesn't seem to harm a healthy plant, but does ruin the aesthetic value. I have seen inferstations so bad that the health of the plant was very compromised, but I haven't seen it as the main factor in mortality.
Pruning of Lilacs should be undedrtaken after bloom, and the idea is to take out the oldest canes, right to the ground. The Lilac sends out several stalks over time, and if you can imagine having planted one five years ago, you could take out the five-year old cane(s), leaving the younger ones to bloom. You will control the height of the plant, encourage bloom on younger more vigorous canes and also remove the older more textured bark that attracts the female Ash boreer when it comes time to lay eggs. It is also good to prune off or pinch out the flower stalks before the shrub sets seed. This will encourage a better bloom the following year.
Lilacs are a one-season wonder, with little to recommend them the rest of the year: no fall color, no interesting seed pods or winter bark interest. But the impact of their bloom more than makes up for this short-coming. Use them in the shrub border, near a path to the front door, as a specimen or a screen. Finally! It took long enough! I don't know why, but this time around I had sooo much trouble with exporting, it took a week's worth of constant exporting to get right. For some reason there was a clip that got distorted EVER TIME. I even tried re-recording it. The thing is though, exporting it as a stand alone the video with prior and following scense it would export fine... I ended up having to settle with exporting the video into two parts and joining them afterwards to solve my issue.

No fluff! Let's get straight into our first gameplay footage of Freedom Planet 2!
Lilac has received the least changes from the first Freedom Planet, but she still has some new tricks up her sleeve! Her Boost Breaker lets her jump out of her boosts while leaving behind a damaging explosion. She also benefits greatly from the new Guarding mechanic - which allows you to block/parry enemy attacks with proper timing - as well as Reviving, which lets you spend an extra life on the spot to get back up. (Careful though - you'll still go down in one hit!) Finally, Lilac can gain access to a set of Wing Gliders later in the game that enhance her Dragon Boost.
