California fires bear down on Oprah's celebrity enclave

 Oprah Winfrey took to Twitter (inset right) saying that winds are creating a 'perfect storm of bad for firefighters' as massive wildfires bear down on her celebrity enclave in California. Santa Barbara County issued new evacuation orders on Saturday for Oprah's home in Montecito and other communities in the area, as winds pushed the Thomas fire close to the wealthy neighborhood. Actor Rob Lowe (inset left), who also lives in the area posted an Instagram photo (seen left) of his house on Saturday morning with a fierce inferno whipping the hills behind it. 'Pray for Santa Barbara,' he wrote. The fire was so strong Saturday that firefighters had to stand down from the front lines. 'The smoke is so thick in places, and the winds so strong and the fire’s behavior so erratic, it’s just not safe for us to have crews staying in the fire area,' said Joe Rosa, a public information officer.

Authorities said she was found by her father, who was searching for her in an area where she was known to take the dogs out for walks. The dogs — described as being 'very large, brindle-colored pit bull dogs' — were said to be aggressively guarding her body when Stephens' father came across them, according to Goochland County Sheriff James L. Agnew, the Richmond-Times Dispatch reported.

Over 300 passengers aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise contracted stomach-related illnesses at sea this past week, it was reported on Saturday. Dellen Millard, of Toronto, Canada, killed 23-year-old Laura Babcock in 2012 after his girlfriend became increasingly jealous over their relationship, prosecutors said. Babcock's body was never found but the court heard that Millard, and accomplice Mark Smich, destroyed her remains in an incinerator. Police later discovered that a note on Smich's iPad which read: 'The b***h started off all skin and bone, Now the b***h lay on some ash stone,Last time I saw her was outside the home,And if u go swimming u can find her phone.'

The family of a Canadian billionaire couple found dead in their home on Friday are angry over police and press reports pointing to a possible murder-suicide. Investigators are awaiting the results of autopsies performed on Barry Sherman and his wife (left) after they were found dead in their home in what police called suspicious deaths. Toronto Police said Saturday the deaths are suspicious based on what they know, but offered no other details. The 75-year-old pharmaceutical magnate and his wife, Honey, 70, were found dead in their north Toronto mansion on Friday. Detectives wheel out the body of one of the victims on the right.

The big cat later roamed 600km away and attacked a woman as she went to the toilet at 5am. A team tracking the beast have said it is not afraid of humans and attracted to light. It does not hesitate to go through human settlements which is 'unusual' behaviour for a tiger.
