Never has the Arab region witnessed such a critical population mass of young people as it has today. Youth within the 15–29-years age bracket exceed 105 million, equivalent to one third of the Arab region’s population.

Responding to Crisis in the region
UNDP has been at the forefront of new initiatives, working with national and international partners and across the UN System to bring about a shift in approach towards building resilience by addressing the humanitarian and development aspects of the crisis at the same time, in a coordinated fashion, through sustainable and nationally-led responses.
Who we are
The Regional Bureau for Arab States (RBAS) based in New York serves as the headquarters for UNDP regional programmes and country offices in 17 Arab countries, with the 18th located in the occupied Palestinian territory. The Bureau is headed by Dr. Mourad Wahba, United Nations Assistant Secretary General and UNDP Assistant Administrator and Regional Director.
