Velvet Revolver

Velvet Revolver was an American hard rock supergroup consisting of former Guns N' Roses members Slash (lead guitar), Duff McKagan (bass, backing vocals), and Matt Sorum (drums, backing vocals), alongside Dave Kushner (rhythm guitar) formerly of punk band Wasted Youth. Original vocalist Scott Weiland formerly of Stone Temple Pilots left the band in 2008. In 2004, the band achieved commercial success with their debut album, Contraband. Despite positive reviews, some critics initially described Velvet Revolver as a mere combination of Stone Temple Pilots and Guns N' Roses, criticizing them for a "disconnection" between Scott Weiland and the rest of the band. With their single "Slither", they won the 2005 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance.

The band released Libertad in 2007, driven by the release of the single "She Builds Quick Machines", and embarked on a tour with Alice in Chains. In April 2008, Weiland left Velvet Revolver and reunited with Stone Temple Pilots. Velvet Revolver was put on indefinite hiatus in April 2008, and in November of that year, the band was released by their record label RCA Records at their request to allow them "complete freedom to go through whatever process it would take to accomplish" replacing Weiland.

Revolve

Revolve, Danger Danger's seventh studio album, marks the return of lead vocalist Ted Poley. It is also the first Danger Danger studio album to feature Rob Marcello on guitar.

No Secrets was an American-British girl group with five members: Angel Faith (Angel Marie Faith), Carly Lewis (Carly Sarah Lewis), Erin Tanner (Erin Elizabeth Kaulani Tanner), Jessica Fried (Jessica Allison Megan Fried) and Jade Ryusaki (Jade Alexis Kapololu Ryusaki-Gasper). The group debuted in the United States in 2002 with their single, "Kids in America".

History

2000-2002: Formation, debut album and tour

No Secrets was formed by Carly's father, Adrian Gurvitz, who was a music producer in London. She wrote a letter to him asking to put a group together, so they began with Carly. Soon after, Jade was invited to be the next member involved. Carly's mom and Jade's mom were family friends that's how they knew each other. The next member to join was Erin, who is Jade's cousin so they gave her a phone call. Later on, while the three girls did a search, they found Angel in an advertisement for a singing group, and then Angel joined and brought Jessica with her. Once the group line-up had been completed, No Secrets began recording songs for their first album. To make their debut album, the girls worked with a variety of producers and songwriters, including Adrian Gurvitz, Andy Goldmark and Riprock 'n' Alex G. The process took a number of months and wasn't finished yet. they took a break from recording and album prep to go touring and promoting their group. In June 2001, No Secrets joined Aaron Carter in Toronto, Canada, for the shooting of his video "Oh Aaron", and also collaborated in the taping of the song, providing background vocals. they were also featured in another track of off his album. the song was titled "Stride (Jump on the Fizzy"). In 2002, after touring with Aaron for 4 months, they filmed their first video, a home VHS and DVD video named No Secrets - Get to Know Us, and then continued working on the album which was released a few months after the video.

Dirty Little Thing

"Dirty Little Thing" is a hard rock song by the supergroup Velvet Revolver, released as the fourth single off the band's debut album Contraband. The song was a top-ten hit on rock radio, although it did not repeat the number one success achieved by their previous two singles, "Slither" and "Fall to Pieces".

History

Before Scott Weiland and Dave Kushner joined the band, the band was slated to include Josh Todd and Keith Nelson from the band Buckcherry. "Dirty Little Thing" was written during the time with them. Suddenly, Slash decided to boot the two from the band, but Nelson was given songwriting credit.

The song has recently been the subject of a plagiarism dispute. Tony Newton formerly of rock band Dirty Deeds recently settled with Velvet Revolver after successfully proving that the main riff of "Dirty Little Thing" is a "carbon copy" of the riff in Dirty Deeds song "Cyber Babe".

The song's lyrics center around a girl who lives a crazy life involving sex, drugs and alcohol. The song opens with bass riffs from Duff McKagan and then the guitar enters, playing major chords. The song has a string chorus and a guitar solo by Slash. The song's structure and sound is very similar to the opening track on Contraband, "Sucker Train Blues".
