LGA 1150, also known as Socket H3, is a microprocessor socket used by Intel's central processing units (CPUs) built on the Haswell microarchitecture. This socket is also used by the Haswell's successor, Broadwell microarchitecture.
LGA 1150 is designed as a replacement for the LGA 1155 socket, which is also known as Socket H2. The LGA 1150 socket has 1150 protruding pins that make contact with the pads on the bottom side of the processor. Cooling systems for LGA 1155 and LGA 1156 sockets are forward compatible with LGA 1150, due to them all sharing the same distance of 75 mm between each screw hole. Most motherboards with the LGA 1150 socket support varying video outputs (VGA, DVI or HDMI – depending on the model) and Intel Clear Video Technology.
Intel's Platform Controller Hub (PCH) for the LGA 1150 CPUs is codenamed Lynx Point. Intel Xeon processors for socket LGA 1150 use the Intel C222, C224, and C226 chipsets.
On May 12, 2014, Intel announced the release of two 9-series chipsets, H97 and Z97. Differences and new features of these two chipsets, compared to their H87 and Z87 counterparts, are the following:
A motherboard (sometimes alternatively known as the mainboard, system board, baseboard, planar board or logic board, or colloquially, a mobo) is the main printed circuit board (PCB) found in general purpose microcomputers and other expandable systems. It holds and allows communication between many of the crucial electronic components of a system, such as the central processing unit (CPU) and memory, and provides connectors for other peripherals. Unlike a backplane, a motherboard usually contains significant sub-systems such as the central processor, the chipset's input/output and memory controllers, interface connectors, and other components integrated for general purpose use.
Motherboard specifically refers to a PCB with expansion capability and as the name suggests, this board is often referred to as the "mother" of all components attached to it, which often include peripherals, interface cards, and daughtercards: sound cards, video cards, network cards, hard drives, or other forms of persistent storage; TV tuner cards, cards providing extra USB or FireWire slots and a variety of other custom components.
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. (traditional Chinese: 華碩電腦股份有限公司; simplified Chinese: 华硕电脑股份有限公司; pinyin: Huáshuò Diànnǎo Gǔfèn Yǒuxiàn Gōngsī), usually referred to as ASUS (/eɪˈsuːs/) or Huáshuò in Chinese (traditional Chinese: 華碩; simplified Chinese: 华硕, literally "Eminence of/by the Chinese (people)"), is a Taiwanese multinational computer hardware and electronics company headquartered in Beitou District, Taipei, Taiwan. Its products include desktops, laptops, netbooks, mobile phones, networking equipment, monitors, projectors, motherboards, graphics cards, optical storage, multimedia products, peripherals, wearables, servers, workstations, and tablet PCs.
Asus is the world's 5th-largest PC vendor by 2014 unit sales . Asus appears in BusinessWeek’s "InfoTech 100" and "Asia’s Top 10 IT Companies" rankings, and it ranked first in the IT Hardware category of the 2008 Taiwan Top 10 Global Brands survey with a total brand value of $1.3 billion.
Asus has a primary listing on the Taiwan Stock Exchange under the ticker code 2357 and a secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange under a ticker code ASKD.
Intel Core is Intel's brand name for various mid-range to high-end home and business microprocessors. These processors displaced the existing mid-to-high end Pentium processors of the time, moving the Pentium to the entry level, and bumping the Celeron series of processors to low end. Identical or more capable versions of Core processors are also sold as Xeon processors for the server and workstation market.
As of 2015 the current lineup of Core processors included the Intel Core i7, Intel Core i5, Intel Core i3, and Core M.
Clock speed slowest 1.2 GHz to the fastest 4.0 GHz (Intel Core i7-4790K) (or 4.4 GHz via Intel Turbo Boost Technology)
The original Core brand refers to Intel's 32-bit mobile dual-core x86 CPUs, which derived from the Pentium M branded processors. The processor family used a more enhanced version of the Intel P6 microarchitecture. It emerged in parallel with the NetBurst microarchitecture (Intel P68) of the Pentium 4 brand, and was a precursor of the 64-bit Core microarchitecture of Core 2 branded CPUs. The Core brand comprised two branches: the Duo (dual-core) and Solo (Duo with one disabled core, which replaced the Pentium M brand of single-core mobile processor).

The new Z97 chipset is an update to the Z87 chipset - it uses the same LGA1150 socket for current Haswell processors, and will also be compatible with the upcoming Haswell refresh as well as Broadwell CPUs after that. My Maximus VI Hero if feeling a bit jealous with the arrival of the new Z97-based Maximus VII Hero. Sitting near the top of the ROG line at release, the Maximus VII Hero features a lot of technology borrowed from past ROG boards and adds some nice new features as well. I go over what comes included in the box, cover the layout of the board and briefly hit on some of the unique features of the Maximus VII Hero. This board will be going into a NZXT H440 Red and Black Edition very soon and should prove a nice compliment to that color scheme. I will be installing my Intel Core i7 4770K initially with plans to test out Devil's Canyon and Broadwell as they are released. While unboxing this motherboard, I showed you all a brief look at sysprep, an .exe that can be run through command prompt, which readies Windows and Windows files for a hardware change. Trying to run the command actually failed; I received error messages after every try, "fatal" errors would not let it complete. So I decided to go through with the installation. After the motherboard was back in the case, and the SDD with Windows was plugged in, I started to get excited, so I plugged in the system and hit the power button on the motherboard. Sure enough, the BIOS and boot menu popped up when I wanted it too, I set my SSD as the boot drive, and Windows booted successfully! The only thing I needed to do was reinstall drivers - LAN, USB, RAID, etc. All is good in the PC again, and Project EID...
Imran reviews the new MSI Z97 Gaming 5 Motherboard. A mid-tier ATX motherboard and one of several motherboards from MSI to use the new Z97 chipset from Intel. This new Z97 chipset offers a few improvements over the now older 8 series, the key feature being improved data transfer rates. With the support of M.2, you could technically get speeds above 1GB/s.
