Bergen (Norwegian pronunciation: [ˈbærɡən] ( listen)) is a city and municipality in Hordaland on the west coast of Norway. As of the end of Q3 2015, the municipality had a population of 277,378, and the urban population was 250,420 as of 1 January 2015, making Bergen the second-largest city in Norway. The municipality covers an area of 465 square kilometres (180 sq mi) and is located on the peninsula of Bergenshalvøyen. The city centre and northern neighbourhoods are located on Byfjorden, "the city fjord", and the city is surrounded by mountains; Bergen is known as the city of seven mountains. Many of the extra-municipal suburbs are located on islands. Bergen is the administrative centre of Hordaland and consists of eight boroughs—Arna, Bergenhus, Fana, Fyllingsdalen, Laksevåg, Ytrebygda, Årstad and Åsane.
Trading in Bergen may have started as early as the 1020s. According to tradition the city was founded in 1070 by king Olav Kyrre; its name was Bjørgvin, "the green meadow among the mountains". It served as Norway's capital in the 13th century, and from the end of the 13th century became a bureau city of the Hanseatic League. Until 1789, Bergen enjoyed exclusive rights to mediate trade between Northern Norway and abroad and it was the largest city in Norway until surpassed by the capital city, Oslo, in the 1830s. The remains of the quays, Bryggen, is a World Heritage Site. The city was hit by numerous fires. The "Bergen School of Meteorology" was developed at the Geophysical Institute beginning in 1917, the Norwegian School of Economics was founded in 1936, and the University of Bergen in 1946. From 1831 to 1972, Bergen was its own county. In 1972 the municipality absorbed four surrounding municipalities, and at the same time became a part of Hordaland county.
Canada's Wonderland is a 330-acre (130 ha) theme park located in Vaughan, Ontario, a suburb approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi) north of Toronto. Opened in 1981 by the Taft Broadcasting Company and The Great-West Life Assurance Company as the first major theme park in Canada, it remains the country's largest. The park was owned by Paramount Parks from 1993 to 2006 when it was known as Paramount Canada's Wonderland. Cedar Fair purchased the park in 2006 dropping Paramount from the title. Canada's Wonderland has been the most visited seasonal amusement park in North America for several consecutive years. In 2014, it was the second most visited park in the Cedar Fair chain, behind Knott's Berry Farm, with approximately 3.5 million visitors.
Canada's Wonderland is open daily from May to September, and then only on weekends through early November. The park features 16 roller coasters, tied with Cedar Point for the second most roller coasters in an amusement park behind Six Flags Magic Mountain. Canada's Wonderland also features a 20-acre (8.1 ha) water park called Splash Works, and during the fall season, a Halloween-themed event called Halloween Haunt.
Bergen International Festival (Norwegian: Festspillene i Bergen) is an annual international music and cultural festival in Bergen, Norway.
The festival is the largest in the Nordic countries in its genre and has a large number of activities in music, dance, literature, visual arts, folklore, etc. The festival is held over fourteen days from the end of May to the start of June and is located in numerous places like the Grieg Hall, Haakon's Hall, Troldhaugen, Lysøen, Siljustøl as well as streets and town squares of Bergen. In the same time span the International Jazz Festival, Nattjazz, takes place in Bergen.
The first festival that started on 1 June 1953, exactly 55 years after its predecessor and source of inspiration, the first music festival in Norway Edvard Grieg's Bergen Music Festival starting on the 26 June 1898. The model was the Salzburg Festival, and the initiative came partly from opera singer Fanny Elstad. The original festival director was Frank Meidell Falch from 1951 to 1957.Christen Gran Bøgh, who died in 1955, also played a major role in the festival's first edition.
MPEG-1 or MPEG-2 Audio Layer III, more commonly referred to as MP3, is an audio coding format for digital audio which uses a form of lossy data compression. It is a common audio format for consumer audio streaming or storage, as well as a de facto standard of digital audio compression for the transfer and playback of music on most digital audio players.
The use of lossy compression is designed to greatly reduce the amount of data required to represent the audio recording and still sound like a faithful reproduction of the original uncompressed audio for most listeners. An MP3 file that is created using the setting of 128 kbit/s will result in a file that is about 1/11 the size of the CD file created from the original audio source (44,100 samples per second × 16 bits per sample × 2 channels = 1,411,200 bit/s; MP3 compressed at 128 kbit/s: 128,000 bit/s [1 k = 1,000, not 1024, because it is a bit rate]. Ratio: 1,411,200/128,000 = 11.025). An MP3 file can also be constructed at higher or lower bit rates, with higher or lower resulting quality.

With 250,000 people, Bergen is a big city by Norwegian standards, but visitors sticking to the compact old center find it charming. Enjoy the busy harbor with its salty market and timber warehouses dripping with Hanseatic history, then stroll the pedestrian-friendly old quarter, with cute lanes of delicate wooden houses. Then for a modern contrast, head for Bergen's urban heart — which has a thriving personality all its own. Bergen, one of the most beautiful citys in Norway. Many great timelapse and landscape videos here on vimeo have inspired me to work with this project. Hope you like it! Canon 550d Canon 18-55mm Edit in Sony Vegas Song: Nevergreen by Emancipator with permission.
My first timelapse movie. I live in Bergen, Norway, and this is my little tribute to this beautiful city. I started on this project in January 2013, and after a lot of waiting for good weather, for bad weather (ok, didn’t have to wait long for that), waiting for snow, the northern light, the moon (and the list goes on), I feel I’ve captured Bergen how I wanted to when I took my first steps into the movie and timelapse world. Bergen is a small city on the west coast of Norway. Even though it is small, it is the second largest city in Norway. Locally the city is popularly called “The city between the 7 mountains”. Tourists visiting Bergen will probably early see the phrase “Gateway to the fjords”. My camera has made close to 100 000 “clicks” (images) during this project. Only about 7500...
Bergen International Festival (Festspillene i Bergen) presents art in all its guises from music to theatre, dance, opera and visual art. Established in 1953, the festival is one of the oldest and the largest of its kind in the Nordic countries, with more than 220 events during the 15 days it lasts. FOR ONE AND ALL. With content spanning from accessible street performances through traditional classical symphonies to the avant garde our challenge was to create a visual language that could speak for them all but still speak with one unified voice. DESIGN AS MUSIC. Music is composed of sound and silence, carefully and mathematically structured through a perfect balance of rhythm, pitch, dynamics, and timbre – it is these very elements that Bergen International Festival embodies. The city com...

The journey has covered all of Norway’s 19 counties, from the far south to the Russian border in the Northeast. The aim of this 5 minute short film is to show the variety of Norway, everything from the deep fjords in the Southwest, to the moon landscape in the North, the Aurora Borealis (Nothern Lights) and the settlements and cities around the country, both in summer and wintertime. There are numerous time lapse videos of Iceland and Norway showing the beauty of their remote landscapes. But when you're in the mountains, looking down, you see so many things happening. Especially in places like Geiranger (Norway) where ferries are sailing back and forth through the fjords, kayak cruises arriving and departing and cars crawling up and down the steep roads. I wanted to portray this like you are watching an ants hill, which gives such a funny perspective on things. Visual Identity System:Redesigning a festival brand—whose program ranges from the classical to the Avant Garde—it was important to create a playful, versatile platform, that spoke to different audiences in a unified voice, yet allowed for individuality in content and appearance.Looking to bridge musical and visual language, we started with what they both had in common: being constructed from a single fundamental element—a note and a pixel.Using this singular element to build the iconic ”F” logo, like a chord constructed of various notes, we were able to establish a mathematical system—a system that allows the logo to grow, subdivide and rhythmically repeat like musical units creating a beat or tempo.By visualising music through these modular systems, we were able to create an identity that...

Once a mother stood on a corner
Tears betrayed her painted smile
She was trading in her halo
For just enough to feed her children
Then an old man, cold and hungry
Saw her crying and he stopped
He gave her his one possession
A shining silver pocket watch
There's no cross that love won't bear
And when you're down to your last prayer
It will be the saving grace
In the depths of your despair
There's no cross that love won't bear
So the old man found a dumpster,
Crawled inside and went to sleep
As he drifted into slumber
He prayed the Lord, his soul to keep
Then the mother with her halo
Came to him in a dream
And he woke up in a mansion
His silver watch there on it's chain
There's no cross that love won't bear
And when you're down to your last prayer
It will be the saving grace
In the depths of your despair
There's no cross that love won't bear
