Seattle (i/siˈætəl/) is a West Coast seaport city and the seat of King County. With an estimated 662,400 residents as of 2015, Seattle is the largest city in both the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest region of North America. In July 2013 it was the fastest-growing major city in the United States, and remained in the top five in May 2015 with an annual growth rate of 2.1%. The Seattle metropolitan area of around 3.6 million inhabitants is the 15th largest metropolitan area in the United States. The city is situated on an isthmus between Puget Sound (an inlet of the Pacific Ocean) and Lake Washington, about 100 miles (160 km) south of the Canada–United States border. A major gateway for trade with Asia, Seattle is the third largest port in North America in terms of container handling as of 2015.
The Seattle area was previously inhabited by Native Americans for at least 4,000 years before the first permanent European settlers.Arthur A. Denny and his group of travelers, subsequently known as the Denny Party, arrived from Illinois via Portland, Oregon on the schooner Exact at Alki Point on November 13, 1851. The settlement was moved to the eastern shore of Elliott Bay and named "Seattle" in 1852, after Chief Si'ahl of the local Duwamish and Suquamish tribes.
A country is a region that is identified as a distinct entity in political geography. A country may be an independent sovereign state or one that is occupied by another state, as a non-sovereign or formerly sovereign political division, or a geographic region associated with sets of previously independent or differently associated people with distinct political characteristics. Regardless of the physical geography, in the modern internationally accepted legal definition as defined by the League of Nations in 1937 and reaffirmed by the United Nations in 1945, a resident of a country is subject to the independent exercise of legal jurisdiction.
Sometimes the word countries is used to refer both to sovereign states and to other political entities, while other times it refers only to states. For example, the CIA World Factbook uses the word in its "Country name" field to refer to "a wide variety of dependencies, areas of special sovereignty, uninhabited islands, and other entities in addition to the traditional countries or independent states".[Note 1]
Connie Smith (born Constance June Meador; August 14, 1941) is an American country music artist. Active since 1964, Smith is widely considered to be one of the genre's best female vocalists. She has earned 11 Grammy award nominations, 20 top ten Billboard country singles, and 31 charting albums, three of which have hit number one. On October 21, 2012, Smith became the 12th solo female vocalist and 19th woman to be elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame.
Despite her success, Smith is considered by some music critics to be one of the most underrated vocalists in country music history due to the decision not to pursue super stardom with the non-country general media market like such contemporaries as Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton, and Tammy Wynette. Artists such as Parton,George Jones, and Chely Wright have cited Smith as either one of the best vocalists in the music industry or their favorite female artist. Eddie Stubbs of Nashville radio station WSM and the Grand Ole Opry has dubbed Smith "The Rolls-Royce of Country Singers."
Lovecraft Country is a term coined by Keith Herber for the New England setting, combining real and fictitious locations, used by H. P. Lovecraft in many of his weird fiction stories, and later elaborated by other writers working in the Cthulhu Mythos. The term was popularized by Chaosium, the producers of the Lovecraftian role-playing game Call of Cthulhu. Lovecraft scholar S. T. Joshi refers to the area as the "Miskatonic region", after its fictional river and university, while Lovecraft biographer Lin Carter calls it Miskatonic County, though Lovecraft indicates that at least some of his fictional towns were located in the real-life Essex County of Massachusetts.
In its 1998 supplement Dead Reckonings, Chaosium defined Lovecraft Country as "a land located in the northeast of Massachusetts. The most important portion stretches along the Miskatonic River valley, from Dunwich in the far west to where it enters the Atlantic Ocean between Arkham, Kingsport, and Martin's Beach." If one were to replace Martin's Beach with another seaside town, Innsmouth, one would have a list of the most significant locations in Lovecraft Country.

Throughout the month of May, a handful for Seattle Country Day students and teachers gathered every morning to ride their bikes to school, a six-mile one-way trip.
This tune can be found on Connie Smith's 1969 RCA album "Connie's Country", which was produced by the legendary Bob Ferguson. "Seattle" was written by Ernie Sheldon and Jack Keller. From the liner notes for this track: "Connie's preference for melodic songs and her way of making a pretty song even prettier make this band highly appealing. Connie sings it with warmth and joy and makes you glad you're living". This video combines all of the power of two natural beauties: Connie Smith and Seattle, Washington. Look for pics of Bill Anderson (who discovered Connie) and the talented Marty Stuart (who married her!). This is one of my all-time favourite Connie Smith songs. I hope you enjoy it.

Join the Matador Network as we explore Seattle from a local’s perspective. To get a sense of what it’s like to live in Seattle, and to see the Emerald City through the eyes of an insider, we tag along for a day in the life of Kirsten Gardner, a local tour guide who takes us on a hike and to a few of her favorit spots in the neighborhood of Ballard. Then, we follow local glass artist Preston Singletary through Pioneer Square, to grab coffee and check out some local public artworks. Finally, we’ll pop in to Green Lake for a visit with Chef Rachel Yang to see what makes Seattle a perfect place to visit with families. Each visit allows us to gain insight into why Seattle is the city with the perfect mix of both urban and the outdoor life.

(Not the Empress Valley version, but oh well..) Led Zeppelin at the Seattle Kingdome July 17, 1977 One of the very few fully-filmed concerts. This being the only one (to my knowledge) that hasn't been officially released by the band. There are slight cuts every 30 minutes or so (for example, a few seconds into SIBLY). That's from when I combined all the segments of the footage. If I had removed those cuts, it would seem like the video is skipping. It was much easier to just leave them in. I hope that it's forgivable. 0:37 The Song Remains the Same 5:53 (The Rover) Sick Again 13:51 Nobody's Fault But Mine 21:42 Over the Hills and Far Away 30:32 Since I've Been Loving You 39:31 No Quarter 1:09:56 Ten Years Gone 1:22:31 The Battle of Evermore (Featuring JPJ on backing vocals) 1:29:41 Going to...

This is an audience recording made so many years ago at what was then called the Seattle Center Opera House (now the renovated McCaw Hall). I had saved up what I could to buy a used Uher 4000 reel to reel recorder and an AKG mic just for this concert, and I was lucky no one threw me out of the venue, as it was pretty obvious the bulky tape equipment I had with me (not at all like the small i-phones we have today!). Laura's performance this concert is absolutely beautiful, with musicality, warmth, tenderness and infused with the fire, passion and depth of emotion she was famous for. Her music and singing can hold up to lifetimes of listening. I had been and remain to this day a huge fan of Laura, so I also was determined to meet her after the concert, but was somewhat nervous about doing so...
