The Pamban Sea Bridge is a railway bridge constructed on the Palk Strait which connects the Island town of Rameswaram to the rest of India. This is the first ever Sea Bridge constructed in India and is about 2 KM long opened to service on 24 February 1914. So far this has been one of the most dangerous and deadly Sea Bridges ever constructed due to its low raised concrete piers just a few feet above the sea water level. The piers almost go invisible when the water level raises during heavy monsoons.The Bridge is restricted to a speed of only 15 KPH due to the double leaf bascule section midway (Cantilever), which can be raised to let ships and barges pass through. An anemometer fixed on the 56th pier over the bridge records the velocity of the wind. Whenever the velocity of the wind exceeds 58 KPH, the signals are turned red preventing any train movement on the bridge.
The bridge is located in the world's second most corrosive environment after Florida, making its maintenance a challenging job. The location is also a cyclone-prone high wind velocity zone.The bridge consist of 143 piers and the center span is a Scherzer rolling type lift span. Each half of the lifting span weighs approximately 415 tonnes.
The Bridge was originally in Meter gauge alignment and was converted to Broad gauge in 2008.
The adjacent road bridge was opened in 1988 until then Rail and Ferry services were the only means of transport to cross the Sea.
This video covers a lot of Trains moving over the Bridge from various view points. Some spots were really risky. The stretch is non electrified between Trichy - Rameswaram and Madurai -Ramerswaram hence all trains are powered by ALCo's only, EMD's have never been tested on this Bridge.

At least 22 have died and more than 30 injured after a stampede on a footbridge at a Mumbai railway station Friday.

Nursery rhyme
A nursery rhyme is a traditional poem or song for young children in Britain and many other countries, but usage only dates from the late 18th /early 19th century. In North America the term Mother Goose Rhymes, introduced in the mid-18th century, is still often used.
History
Lullabies
The oldest children's songs of which we have records are lullabies, intended to help a child sleep. Lullabies can be found in every human culture. The English term lullaby is thought to come from "lu, lu" or "la la" sound made by mothers or nurses to calm children, and "by by" or "bye bye", either another lulling sound, or a term for good night. Until the modern era lullabies were usually only recorded incidentally in written sources. The Roman nurses' lullaby, "Lalla, Lalla, Lalla, aut dormi, aut lacta", is recorded in a scholium on Persius and may be the oldest to survive.
Many medieval English verses associated with the birth of Jesus take the form of a lullaby, including "Lullay, my liking, my dere son, my sweting" and may be versions of contemporary lullabies. However, most of those used today date from the 17th century. For example, a well known lullaby such as "Rock-a-bye, baby on a tree top", cannot be found in records until the late-18th century when it was printed by John Newbery (c. 1765).

The Pamban Sea Bridge is a railway bridge constructed on the Palk Strait which connects the Island town of Rameswaram to the rest of India. This is the first ever Sea Bridge constructed in India and is about 2 KM long opened to service on 24 February 1914. So far this has been one of the most dangerous and deadly Sea Bridges ever constructed due to its low raised concrete piers just a few feet above the sea water level. The piers almost go invisible when the water level raises during heavy monsoons.The Bridge is restricted to a speed of only 15 KPH due to the double leaf bascule section midway (Cantilever), which can be raised to let ships and barges pass through. The Pamban Sea Bridge is a railway bridge constructed on the Palk Strait which connects the Island town of Rameswaram to the rest of India. This is the first ev...
The Pamban Sea Bridge is a railway bridge constructed on the Palk Strait which connects the Island town of Rameswaram to the rest of India. This is the first ever Sea Bridge constructed in India and is about 2 KM long opened to service on 24 February 1914. So far this has been one of the most dangerous and deadly Sea Bridges ever constructed due to its low raised concrete piers just a few feet above the sea water level. The piers almost go invisible when the water level raises during heavy monsoons.The Bridge is restricted to a speed of only 15 KPH due to the double leaf bascule section midway (Cantilever), which can be raised to let ships and barges pass through. An anemometer fixed on the 56th pier over the bridge records the velocity of the wind. Whenever the velocity of the wind exceeds 58 KPH, the signals are turned red preventing any train movement on the bridge.
The bridge is located in the world's second most corrosive environment after Florida, making its maintenance a challenging job. The location is also a cyclone-prone high wind velocity zone.The bridge consist of 143 piers and the center span is a Scherzer rolling type lift span. Each half of the lifting span weighs approximately 415 tonnes.
The Bridge was originally in Meter gauge alignment and was converted to Broad gauge in 2008.
The adjacent road bridge was opened in 1988 until then Rail and Ferry services were the only means of transport to cross the Sea.
This video covers a lot of Trains moving over the Bridge from various view points. Some spots were really risky. The stretch is non electrified between Trichy - Rameswaram and Madurai -Ramerswaram hence all trains are powered by ALCo's only, EMD's have never been tested on this Bridge.

Bridge railway bike riding in Gimhea City Korea
My exploration with my friend at the Bridge rail bike in Gimhae Nakdonggang River. The rail bike runs for about 3km in distance. Please excuse the panty words, we were both wearing dress which wasn't fit for the activity but we enjoyed the ride with full of laughter as well as the Nakdonggang river's beautiful view while riding on the rail bike. It is indeed a fantastic experience with a unique atmosphere as we bypass the vintage railway bridge. Next to it is a raspberry wine tunnel which is included in a package of 16,000 won more or less $15,00 per 2 heads for tourist and 13,000 won for locals. By the way, this place used to be an old train rail which was transformed into a tourist destination. Great idea isn't it!

Swedish rail company swaps paper tickets for embedded microchips
Swedish train operator SJ Railways has become the latest company to adopt technology that reads microchips embedded in the body, and is using it as an alternative to printed rail passes. Implanted into the hand, the microchip is scanned by the conductor to validate tickets. The system works by registering each passenger with a membership number, which is stored in the microchip and monitored and updated via an app on the customer's smartphone. The microchip and app exchange information using Near Field Communication (NFC) – the same wireless data transfer technology used by Apple Pay, Android Pay and Amiibo. My exploration with my friend at the Bridge rail bike in Gimhae Nakdonggang River. The rail bike runs for about 3km in distance. Please excuse the panty words, we were both wearing dress which wasn't fit for the activity but we enjoyed the ride with full of laughter as well as the Nakdonggang river's beautiful view while riding on the rail bike. It is indeed a fantastic experience with a unique atmosphere as we bypass the vintage railway bridge. Next to it is a raspberry wine tunnel which is included in a package of 16,000 won more or less $15,00 per 2 heads for tourist and 13,000 won for locals. By the way, this place used to be an old train rail which was transformed into a tourist destination. Great idea isn't it!

Swedish train operator SJ Railways has become the latest company to adopt technology that reads microchips embedded in the body, and is using it as an alternative to printed rail passes.
Implanted into the hand, the microchip is scanned by the conductor to validate tickets.
The system works by registering each passenger with a membership number, which is stored in the microchip and monitored and updated via an app on the customer's smartphone.
The microchip and app exchange information using Near Field Communication (NFC) – the same wireless data transfer technology used by Apple Pay, Android Pay and Amiibo.
As the conductor moves through the train to check tickets, passenger's are able to simply hold out their hand for the conductor to scan and check ticket information. SJ Railways claims it is the first travel company in the world to offer this service.

After missing my EMU bound to Kosi Kalan at Faridabad, I needed some dynamic planning to reach at a spot between Palwal and Kosi Kalan before Bhopal Shatabdi. Bhopal Shatabdi. Luckily Punjab Mail was running on
time, but it would drop me at Kosi Kalan. Kosi Kalan
is not an mps spot since always I guess. But now,
there was no other choice. I though at least 125
kmph action would be witnessed.

For all its bad reputation today, the old British Rail boldly transformed a decayed, war-torn Victorian transport network into a system fit for the 20th century. With an eye firmly on the future, steam made way for diesel and electric, new modern stations like Euston were built, and Britain's first high-speed trains introduced.
Made with unique access to the British Transport Films archive, this is a warm corrective to the myth of the bad old days of rail, but even it can't hide from the horror that was a British Rail sandwich.

October 5, 1999, a passenger train that departed from Paddington Station in London, the morning rush hour crashes into a train coming in the opposite direction at a combined speed of 209 kilometers per hour.
The impact and fireball unprecedented twenty meters sweeping train, killing twenty-nine passengers and two drivers, leaving hundreds injured and trapped in the twisted metal.
The original investigators of the tragedy rebuild their analysis of how two trains was traveling by the same route and why automatic warning systems and brakes in perfect working order, did not prevent one of the worst train accidents in the history of Great Britain .
The reconstruction step of events reveals an impressive history of accidents that should have prevented this tragedy occurred.

Definitely not the usual way to start an album, but by this time we were doing things our own way, and not for booming record sales. The song was written as is (long intro and all), but the decision to put it at the beginning of the album came later. We weren't concerned. If anything, 'Rail' has a definite vibe of The Cure, one of our favorite bands growing up (except Jesse). 'Rail' still remains as one of my very favorite songs.
This was a difficult song lyrically. I struggled for some time with the chorus. Not writing it, mind you, just accepting that it was "ok" to sing that. At this point, all of us except for Jesse were married. When you get married (or engaged) it often throws you for a loop... and this song shows some of that. The first few lines (Jesus tie these hands...) speak of the wrong decisions that I had made in my previous relationships. Relationships that should never have been. I ended up hurting a lot of people, including myself. And, although this song focuses on that struggle, it really speaks to our lives in general when we don't heed the Word of God.
