Over December 2016 / January 2017 3CR continues to bring you great radio with plenty of radical content. There’s still plenty of reasons to stay tuned to 3CR over the Summer period ...

Mondays

From Boxing Day to 9 January, Yarra Bicycle Users Group Radio at 10am brings you three shows with poetry, New Year resolutions and bicycle-themed tunes.

Dirt Radio are on summer break until 16 January. From 10.30 – 11.00am we’re bringing you Earth Matters repeats featuring historical audio drawn from our archives as part of our forty years birthday celebrations.

Black Block are on a short break and will be back with you live in the studio on 9 January so for two weeks we’ll be bringing you some of our fantastic indigenous broadcasting from our forty years celebration.

Urban Voice will be replaced by a two-part 3MBS Female Australian Composers Project created for International Women’s Day called Notes on a Page. Amy Bennett presents a journey voiced by a dozen Australian composers that focuses on the work of Australia’s female composers: from the trailblazers, to the feminist era and the Third Wave, including the emerging voices.

Doin Time are only away for 26 December and we’ve lined up Let's Talk: Police Brutality (98.9 FM / BIMA). A panel hosted by Amy McQuire that profiles the case of 98.9 FM colleague Leon Petrou, who was bashed by police two years ago.

Beyond Zero Emissions has collated a great series of specials for broadcast from 5-6pm Mondays, including Naomi Klein's Sydney Peace Prize address.
Enjoy an extended edition of the Voice of West Papua program each Monday starting at 6pm from 26 December to 9 January.

Join Aziza Hussein from 27 December to 10 January with Nile Show from 6-6.30pm. Sudanese culture, music and food in Arabic.

Tuesdays

Regular Tuesday music shows Music Sans Frontieres and Great Voices will continue each week over the Summer period.

Filling in for Greek Resistance Bulletin from 10-11pm for the weeks 27 December until 10 January Tansy McNally will bring you Rebellious Jukebox and it's intent is to play the most diverse range of music you can think of. Everything from Punk Rock to Classical music & everything in between! Diverse and unpredictable but never dull, for those who like something a little different. 

Wednesdays

City Limits are on summer break and each Wednesday from 9-10am over January we bring you  Radio Skid Row’s (Sydney) There goes the neighbourhood focusing on five suburbs in their broadcast area that are dealing with the impacts of gentrification: Marrickville, Redfern, Glebe, Leichhardt and Millers Point

Enjoy Geoff Tobin’s Lazy Wednesday Afternoon of Jazz and Blues 2-4pm right throughout January.

Thursdays

No need to miss out on your weekly science fix - Lost in Science with be on air each Thursday 8.30-9am over Summer. On 29 December and 5 January take a break from Talkback with Attitude and enjoy some music with Andy from 9.30-10.30am. Listen now 29 December. Listen now 5 January.

Girls Rock! Melbourne Summer Specials, with host Stinky, explore the 2017 Girls Rock! Melbourne week-long music and performance camp aimed at empowering girls, trans and non-gender binary youth through music. On air from 24 December to 21 January.

Sundays

Join 3CR presenters Mike Smith and Matt Gleeson for a series of music specials each Sunday from 11.30-1pm. Listen up to Pan Afrikan Poets from 1 January to 15 January 4-5.30pm hosted by Sista Zai Zanda. The Pan Afrikan Poets Cafe profiles a diversity of new, emerging and established voices who make up the Global oral and written cultures of the Black Afrikan diaspora. The Pan Afrikan Poets Cafe provides access to Black Afrikan writers and performers whose work affirms that the stories about the personal and lived experience are in fact 'political'.
