Blade is a 1998 American superhero film starring Wesley Snipes and Stephen Dorff, loosely based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Snipes plays Blade, a human-vampire hybrid who protects humans from vampires. The film was directed by Stephen Norrington and written by David S. Goyer.
Released on September 18, 1998, Blade became a commercial success by grossing $70 million at the U.S. box office, and $131.2 million worldwide. Despite mixed reviews from film critics, the film received a positive reception from audiences and has since garnered a cult following. It was followed by two sequels, Blade II and Blade: Trinity, both written by Goyer who also directed the latter.
In 1967, a pregnant woman is rushed into a hospital in labor where a C-section is performed on her to save her baby. She dies, but her child lives.
Three decades later, a seductive woman, leads a young man to a rave club. The club goers soon reveal themselves to be vampires and prepare to feast on the man. Vampire-hunter Eric "Blade" Brooks reveals himself and begins killing the vampires. He sets on fire the last vampire (named Quinn) and leaves before the police arrive. In the hospital, Quinn awakens, kills one of the examiners and bites the other one, hematologist Karen Jenson. When Blade intervenes, Quinn escapes. Blade brings Karen back to his safe house, where Abraham Whistler, his mentor and weaponsmith, injects her with garlic extract to suppress her transformation. They tell Karen of the vampires' existence and weaknesses against silver, garlic and ultraviolet rays, as well as the silent war they have been fighting. They advise her to leave town, as the vampires will hunt her down.

As a means to create public awareness for the opening of the studio, Malcolm has announced that one lucky local band will be given 24 hours to record their "breakthrough" song and music video which he will then release to the press the next morning when the doors of the studio officially open. The name of that band is SAW BLADE. Once in the studio, the band quickly starts rehearsing for their music video, unaware that their music is causing the awakening of the charred rotting remains of Elliott Benson. His body emerges from it's grave and with his deadly Saw Blade in hand, Benson heads out to kill whomever is in the building.

From the flames of a burned down heart
Ripped off and torn apart
Life to ashes and life to death
I twist the blade and take your breath
In the twist of blade I feel
The passion to hate arising
Cruelest mind, my thoughts are running through
Deepest fear, no light shines on you
Son of no one and breeder of fear
I'm coming to take you away
Shadow hearted, me, wild one
Bringer of pain and darkest despair
I'm heading towards the day
That your last wish is to be done
Through my blade I live my life
Your salvation in flash of my knife
Til the last drop I make you crawl
You?re good as dead so fear no more
In the twist of blade I feel
The passion to hate arising
Cruelest mind, my thoughts are running through
Deepest fear, no light shines on you
Son of no one and breeder of fear
I'm coming to take you away
Shadow hearted, me, wild one
