KNEW may refer to:

Savage Garden

Savage Garden were an Australian pop duo consisting of Darren Hayes as vocalist and Daniel Jones as instrumentalist. Formed in Logan City, Queensland in 1993, the duo achieved international success in the late 1990s and early 2000s with the number-one hit singles "I Want You", "To the Moon and Back", "Truly Madly Deeply", "The Animal Song" and "I Knew I Loved You". Their two studio albums, Savage Garden and Affirmation reached number one in Australia and peaked in the top ten in both the United Kingdom and United States.

The group won a record number of ten ARIA Music Awards in 1997 for their debut album and its related singles. They disbanded in 2001 and Hayes continued as a solo artist.

History

1993–1995: Formation

In 1993, multi-instrumentalist and producer Daniel Jones placed an advertisement in Brisbane newspaper Time Off seeking a vocalist for his five-piece covers band Red Edge which he had formed with his brothers.Darren Hayes, who was studying at university, was the only respondent and joined after his first audition. Red Edge played venues along the Gold Coast pub and club circuit, while Hayes and Jones started to write original material. In June 1994, Hayes and Jones left Red Edge to pursue a career together originally as Crush. The new duo was renamed Savage Garden after a phrase from The Vampire Chronicles by Anne Rice, "Beauty was a Savage Garden".

I Knew I Loved You

"I Knew I Loved You" is a song by Australian pop duo Savage Garden, released as the second single from their second studio album, Affirmation. The song went straight to number one on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the band's second number one in the United States after "Truly Madly Deeply". After its third week at number one, the single was knocked off by Mariah Carey's "Thank God I Found You" featuring Joe and 98 Degrees. It later returned to the top again the following week for its fourth and final week at the top.

It was the last song by an Australian artist to reach the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for over 12 years until Gotye peaked at number one with his single "Somebody That I Used to Know" (featuring Kimbra) in 2012.

The music video featured then-teen actress Kirsten Dunst as Darren Hayes' love interest and received a heavy rotation on MTV.

Music video

The music video was filmed by director Kevin Bray in August, 1999 on a New York City Subway set that had previously been used on the sitcom Seinfeld. It features Hayes playing out a romantic plot on a subway train, with a female passenger (played by American actress Kirsten Dunst) as the object of his affections. At one point, the train comes to a stop due to a power outage; red emergency lighting comes on and everyone in the carriage joins hands. Hayes, who is sitting opposite his aforementioned love interest, extends his hand to her. As they touch, the video cuts to a montage of the couple walking through a park, bathed in sunlight, laughing and holding hands. The video then cuts back to the carriage as the power comes back on and the train pulls into the station. Hayes and the woman exit with the other passengers, and share a fleeting glance before going their separate ways. Shots of the band performing alone on the subway platform and in the carriage are interspersed throughout the video.

I Loved You

"I Loved You" is a single by British deep house duo Blonde featuring vocals from British singer Melissa Steel. The track uses interpolations of "More", a song from the album of the same name by Canadian singer Tamia. It was released through Parlophone on 30 November 2014 in the United Kingdom. The song has peaked at number seven on the UK Singles Chart.

Critical reception

KALTBLUT Magazine gave the song a very positive review: "Reiterating Blonde's summery cocktail of upbeat sounds and positive vibes, 'I Loved You' updates the classic attributes of nineties cross over house with an intoxicating blend of piano-focused melodies, sublime beats and a soulful vocal."

Music video

A music video to accompany the release of "I Loved You" was first released onto YouTube on 17 September 2014 at a total length of three minutes and seventeen seconds. It was set in Mexico City of Mexico and features two young women (one of whom is played by Mexican actress Estrella Solís). The video has over 30 million views as of February 2016.

I Knew You Were Trouble

"I Knew You Were Trouble" (stylized as "I Knew You Were Trouble.") is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift for her fourth studio album, Red (2012). It was released on October 9, 2012, in the United States by Big Machine Records as the third promotional single from the album. Later, "I Knew You Were Trouble" was released as the third single from Red on November 27, 2012, in the United States. Swift co-wrote the song with its producers Max Martin and Shellback.

"I Knew You Were Trouble" received generally positive reviews from music critics, who commended its mainstream appeal yet noted Swift's experimentation with dubstep as relatively limited. Due to strong digital sales, the song debuted at number three on the Billboard Hot 100, selling more than 416,000 copies within its first week, making it Swift's 14th entry in the top ten; it later peaked at number two in January 2013, after Bruno Mars's "Locked Out of Heaven". At the inaugural YouTube Music Awards in 2013, "I Knew You Were Trouble" won the award for YouTube phenomenon. The single has been certified Quintuple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The song is one of the best-selling singles worldwide, with worldwide sales of more than 6.6 millions of units (according to the IFPI).
