Over the past week, the Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission, United Nations Development Programme and European Union organised six events across Fiji to facilitate and nurture the culture of human rights in Fiji.
The inclusion of sign language interpreters provided persons with hearing loss access to social, economic and legal services.
Women, men and youths from three of Suva’s urban communities, Jittu Estate Veiquwawa, Wailea settlement and Tamavua-i-Wai settlement, actively engaged during evening sessions in the awareness raising and service delivery recently undertaken by the REACH Project.
UNDP in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, the Vanuatu Youth Council and the Vanuatu Young Entrepreneurs Council, hosted a three-day National Dialogue on Youth Leadership, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Vanuatu.
The first tsunami drill at schools in the Solomon Islands mobilized nearly 400 students and teachers, testing the schools’ emergency management plans and newly constructed evacuation routes.
The Rights, Empowerment and Cohesion (REACH) for Rural and Urban Fijians Project aims to promote peace building, social cohesion and inclusiveness.
