The Bay of Bengal, the largest bay in the world, forms the northeastern part of the Indian Ocean. Roughly triangular in shape, it is bordered mostly by India and Sri Lanka to the west, Bangladesh to the north, and Myanmar (Burma) and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to the east.
The Bay of Bengal occupies an area of 2,172,000 square kilometres (839,000 sq mi). A number of large rivers – the Ganges and its tributaries such as the Padma and Hooghly, the Brahmaputra and its tributaries such as the Jamuna and Meghna, other rivers such as the Irrawaddy River, Godavari, Mahanadi, Krishna and Kaveri flow into the Bay of Bengal. Among the important ports are Chennai, Chittagong, Kolkata, Mongla, Paradip, Tuticorin, Visakhapatnam and Yangon.
The International Hydrographic Organization defines the limits of the Bay of Bengal as follows:
In ancient Hindu scriptures, this water body is referred to as 'Mahodadhi' (Sanskrit: महोदधि, lit. great water receptacle) while it appears as Sinus Gangeticus or Gangeticus Sinus, meaning "Gulf of the Ganges", in ancient maps.
Bengal /bɛŋˈɡɔːl/ (Bengali: বাংলা Bangla /baŋla/ or বঙ্গ Bônggo /bɔŋɡo/) is a geographical and ethno-linguistic region in the eastern part of the Indian subcontinent, at the apex of the Bay of Bengal and dominated by the fertile Ganges delta. The Bengal region was politically divided in the 1947 Partition of India based on religion: predominantly Hindu West Bengal became a province (now a state) of India, while predominantly Muslim East Bengal became a province of Pakistan and later gained independence as Bangladesh. Some regions of the historical kingdoms of Bengal are now part of Nepal and the neighbouring Indian states of Assam, Tripura, Bihar, Meghalaya, Manipur, Jharkhand, and Odisha. The Bengali people (বাঙালি Bangali), who speak the Bengali language (বাংলা Bangla), which is Indo-Aryan, natively inhabit the region, alongside dozens of indigenous ethnic groups who speak minority languages of the Tibeto-Burman, Austroasiatic, and Dravidian families.
Bengal is one of the most densely populated regions on Earth, with an estimated population of 250 million people and a population density exceeding 900 people per square kilometre. Most of the Bengal region lies in the low-lying Ganges Delta, the world's largest river delta. In the southern part of the delta lies the Sundarbans, the world's largest mangrove forest and home of the Bengal tiger. In the coastal southeast lies Cox's Bazar, the world's longest beach with a length of more than 100 km (62 mi). While most of the region is rural and agrarian, it includes two megacities: Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) and Dhaka (formerly Dacca).
Yonder is a mobile-only digital music download service, founded by Adam Kidron. Its software is pre-installed in smartphones. It is compatible with Android and iOS. Yonder's music catalogue includes content from three major record labels (Universal Music Group, Sony and Warner Music Group), in addition to independent labels.
Kidron's earlier music service venture launched in 2007, Beyond Oblivion, was the basis for Yonder. Between 2008 and 2011, Beyond Oblivion raised $33.2 million from Intertrust Technologies Corporation, Allen & Company, News Corporation, and Wellcome Trust; however, by the end of 2011, it became clear that it would not be able to raise enough capital to pay content owners under their licensing agreements. Beyond Oblivion filed Chapter 11 under the United States Bankruptcy Code in 2012. The assets of Beyond Oblivion were sold at auction to Gee Beyond, Inc. Kidron founded Yonder in a renewed attempt to popularize the hard-bundled model.
The seed capital for Yonder was provided by Cliff Burnstein, manager of musical artists such as Metallica, The Black Keys, and Red Hot Chili Peppers. In May 2013, Yonder released a its commercial beta version; specifically on a limited number of HTC models in the US.

Eagle's eye view of an isolated uninhabited emerald-like island in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands archipelago. The Andaman and Nicobar Islands were shrouded in mystery for centuries because of their inaccessibility. These are the paragon of beauty and present a landscape full with scenic and picturesque extravaganza. These islands shimmer like emeralds in the Bay of Bengal. The dense forest which cover these islands and the innumerable exotic flowers and birds create a highly poetic and romantic atmosphere. "Here the white beaches on the edge of a meandering coastline have palm trees that sway to the rhythm of the Sea. The beat of tribal drums haunt the stillness and technicolour fish steer their way through crystal clear water." This addition of strangeness to beauty which is responsibl...

Music : www.bensound.com Jaina Bhagavati-Sutra of circa 5th century A.D. mentions that Purulia was one of the 16 Mahajanapadas and was a part of the country known as Vajra-bhumi in ancient times. However, little is known about Purulia before the East-India Company obtained the 'Diwani' of Bengal, Bihar, Orissa in 1765. By Regulation XVIIII of 1805, a Jungle Mahals district composed of 23 parganas and mahals including the present Purulia (known as 'Purulia' those days) was formed. By Regulation XIII of 1833 the Jungle Mahals district was broken up and a new district called Manbhum was constituted with headquarters at Manbazar. The district was very large in size and included parts of Bankura, Burdwan of present West Bengal and Dhanbad, Dhalbhum, Saraikela and Kharswan of present states of J...

Now is the moment to visit this extraordinary land, scattered with gilded pagodas, where the traditional ways of Asia endure and areas previously off-limits are opening up. Surreal & Traditional In a nation with well over 100 ethnic groups, exploring Myanmar can often feel like you've stumbled into a living edition of the National Geographic, circa 1910! The country, for instance, has yet to be completely overwhelmed by Western fashion – everywhere you'll encounter men wearing skirt-like longyi, women smothered in thanakha (traditional make-up) and betel-chewing grannies with mouths full of blood-red juice. People still get around in trishaws and, in rural areas, horse and cart. Drinking tea – a British colonial affectation – is enthusiastically embraced in thousands of traditional teahou...

Bay of Bengal is a diverse ecosystem of blue water. Geographically it is funnel shaped. Though the depth of this Bay gradually increase from the coast, but some places have vertical slope. The Bay of Bengal is surrounded by Bangladesh in north, Sri Lanka & India in west, Mianmar & Andaman-Nicobar Islands in east and Indian Ocean in south. Due to favorable temperature, salinity, and concentration this ecosystem is rich with aquatic biodiversity. It is also playing vital role in flourishing terrestrial biodiversity of many south Asian countries including Bangladesh by controlling climate. For geographical location, special shape, regular tidal flow, salinity and fertile estuary, Bay of Bengal is rich with Phytoplankton and marine algae. They spread throughout the Bay. The ecosystem of Bay of...

Dr Sunil Amrith, Harvard University 2 February 2015 The Bay of Bengal is an oceanic region linking India’s eastern coast with island and mainland Southeast Asia - at particular moments, and especially between the mid-19th and the mid-20th centuries, its coasts were as closely linked to each other as to the heartlands of the nation-states they ultimately formed part of. Dr Amrith’s talk focused on the period of most intensive connectedness across the Bay of Bengal, in the 1920s; and charted how and why those connections came undone so quickly, and apparently so completely, in the 1930s. Sunil Amrith is the Mehra Family Professor of South Asian Studies and Professor of History at Harvard University. His work focuses on trans-regional movement of people, ideas, and institutions, particularly ...
