Alberta (/ælˈbɜːrtə/) is a western province of Canada. With an estimated population of 4,196,457 as of July 1, 2015, it is Canada's fourth-most populous province and the most populous of Canada's three prairie provinces. Alberta and its neighbour Saskatchewan were districts of the Northwest Territories until they were established as provinces on September 1, 1905. The premier has been Rachel Notley since May 2015.
Alberta is bounded by the provinces of British Columbia to the west and Saskatchewan to the east, the Northwest Territories to the north, and the US state of Montana to the south. Alberta is one of three Canadian provinces and territories to border only a single US state and one of only two landlocked provinces. It has a predominantly Humid continental climate, but seasonal temperature average swings are smaller than to areas further east, with winters being warmed by occasional chinook winds bringing sudden warming which moderates average temperatures.
Alberta's capital Edmonton is near the geographic centre of the province and is the primary supply and service hub for Canada's crude oil, oil sands (Athabasca oil sands) and other northern resource industries.
The Executive Council of Alberta, or the Cabinet of Alberta, is the Province of Alberta's provincial equivalent to the Executive Council (Canada) or Cabinet of Canada although smaller in size. The government of the province of Alberta is a constitutional monarchy and parliamentary democracy with a unicameral legislature—the Legislative Assembly, which consists of 87 members elected first past the post (FPTP) from single-member constituencies. The Executive Council of Alberta is officially headed by the Lieutenant-Governor, as representative of the Queen in Right of Alberta and is referred to as the Governor-in-Council. Although the lieutenant governor is technically the most powerful person in Alberta, he is in reality a figurehead whose actions are restricted by custom and constitutional convention. The government is therefore headed by the premier. The current premier is Rachel Notley, who was sworn in as the 17th premier on May 24, 2015. The premier is normally a member of the Legislative Assembly, and draws all the members of the Cabinet from among the members of the Legislative Assembly. The legislative powers in the province however, lie with the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. Its government resembles that of the other Canadian provinces. The capital of the province is Edmonton, where the Alberta Legislative Building is located. Government is conducted after the Westminster model.

A government is the system by which a state or community is controlled. In the Commonwealth of Nations, the word government is also used more narrowly to refer to the collective group of people that exercises executive authority in a state. This usage is analogous to what is called an "administration" in American English. Furthermore, especially in American English, the concepts of the state and the government may be used synonymously to refer to the person or group of people exercising authority over a politically organized territory. Finally, government is also sometimes used in English as a synonym for governance.
In the case of its broad associative definition, government normally consists of legislators, administrators, and arbitrators. Government is the means by which state policy is enforced, as well as the mechanism for determining the policy of the state. A form of government, or form of state governance, refers to the set of political systems and institutions that make up the organisation of a specific government.

Provincially, the FCSS Program receives its mandate from the Family and Community Support Services Act and Regulation. The Regulation sets out the service requirements, that a municipality or Settlement must meet to be eligible for funding. At the local level, a municipality or Metis Settlement Council chooses whether to establish a Program, and enters into an agreement with the province to jointly fund the Program. Teck Resources has decided to postpone a $20 billion oil sands project in Alberta. Low oil prices and increasingly high labour costs didn't help, but Ezra Levant of TheRebel.media says it's obvious the final straw was the province's new NDP government. It's no surprise. Premier Notley has hired a disciple of Al Gore to review oil royalties, hiked taxes and took other steps to send an unmistakable anti-energy message. Yet the media isn't treating this project shutdown like the disaster it is. Can you imagine if all the big car companies shut down Ontario operations overnight? The Alberta government is running advertisements claiming that closing coal-fired power plants will benefit Albertans by reducing health costs and saving lives. The anti-coal activists used an image of a little girl with an asthma inhaler. Friends of Science Society takes a look at the evidence on air quality, causes of deaths in Alberta, some asthma triggers and finds the Alberta government is skewing the story on coal. Based on our review of the evidence, closing coal-fired power plants will be a tremendous cost to Albertans with little to no health benefit - in fact, power prices will rise and hospitals need lots of power to serve public needs. Have a look at the evidence over the ideology.

This conversation took place July of 2015. This man guaranteed they would look into what is killing the trees in northern Alberta and then never returned my calls or responded to my emails. This is the third year in a row that I contact the ministry that is supposed to protect our environment only to have them try and cover up the damages that are taking place. The first year they tried to say it was fall degradation taking place in July. The second year they completely ignored the file and didn't respond. Now this year we are being ignored again. Please people call your environmental agencies and report tree death and bee loss.

Calgary Immigration Lawyer Raj Sharma joined Donna McElligott on February 11, 2014 to discuss changes to Canadian Citizenship Laws on CBC Alberta at Noon. The government's rationale is that it's strengthening the integrity of the system. The changes are a mixed bag; the only way to become a Canadian is to spend a significant period of time in this country. The increase to the residency requirement is fair and justifiable. The new rules are crystal clear as to residency. The Conservative government can't seem to throw in some 'odd ball measures'. The Minister now has the unilateral power to grant and revoke citizenship (in certain cases). Canadian citizenship is a great honour and privilege and there should be transparency with the grant of citizenship by the Minister. You now need to provi...
