Prince Harry said today he is 'thrilled' to be marrying Suits star Meghan Markle, who showed the world her engagement ring designed by the royal himself containing two diamonds from Princess Diana's own personal collection set in a gold band. The central stone is from Botswana, where they went on safari in September, and the prince proposed earlier this month after asking the Queen's permission. Poignantly the royal chose their first photocall (pictured) in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace in London, much loved by his late mother Diana. Harry and his brother William had white roses planted there in her memory when the 20th anniversary of her death fell in August. The royal looked nervous but happy and his fiancée stroked his arm lovingly as they spoke to reporters, who asked him: 'When did you know she was the one?' and he replied: 'From the very first time we met'. Poignantly the royal chose their first photocall in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace, much loved by his late mother Princess Diana.

 Oh thank the Lord! Prince Harry, long time enfant terrible of the Royal Family, has finally made a sensible decision when it comes to his personal life. Yes, His Royal 'Naked Billiards' Highness is at last settling down and getting married. I was delighted when I heard the big news today, not least because his bride-to-be Meghan Markle is a friend of mine. Or rather, she was until she met him.

Rachel Meghan Markle was born in Los Angeles on August 4 1981, to clinical therapist mother Doria who she describes as 'free spirited' and TV lighting director Thomas - who she calls 'the most hardworking father you can imagine'. Each day after school, she used to visit the set of the TV show Married...with Children where her father worked. In two photos from her yearbooks (including this one, top centre), Miss Markle is listed as Rachel Markle, as the actress was still using her first name at the time (Meghan is her middle name). Miss Markle was also once a 'briefcase girl' - one of the models who hold the suitcases full of cash - on the US version of Deal or No Deal (right). Meghan, who today announced her engagement to Prince Harry, looked resplendent in a chic belted white coat dress from Line the Label, which she wore over a £437 dress by Parosh and offset with vertiginous Aquazzura heels as she cosied up to her prince charming. The Suits actress, 36, showcased the stunning ring designed by Prince Harry himself with one stone from Botswana, where he and Meghan recently holidayed, and two diamonds from Diana's personal collection. The ring was made by Cleave and Company, Court Jewellers and Medallists to Her Majesty The Queen. At its centre is a diamond from Botswana, a country that holds special significance for Prince Harry who has visited many times since he was a child. It is also a place the couple has spent time together over the last year and a half. The ring features two outside stones, which are diamonds from the personal collection of Prince Harry's mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. David Allen of 77 Diamonds said a ring of this size and quality would start at around £50,000 but with the use of the late Princess Diana's diamonds as side stones, this ring, like Kate's before it is of inestimable worth. TheDiamondStore.co.uk estimate that the ring cost £199,475 and the stone is likely to be a D in colour (the clearest).

Doria Ragland, 61, was photographed exclusively by DailyMail.com outside her Windsor Hills home in Los Angeles this weekend ahead of her daughter Meghan's big announcement. The 61-year-old yoga instructor is said to have known about Meghan's engagement for 'several weeks' but spent days leading up to the announcement watering her plants. However, hours after the news broke, a security detail (right) was spotted outside of Doria's home on Monday. Speaking to DailyMail.com, the guard said he was unable to answer questions but did reveal that Doria plans to release a second statement later today.

Meghan Markle is set to move into a cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace (inset) with her husband-to-be, Prince Harry. The newly-engaged couple will live together in the modest royal residence Nottingham Cottage (pictured), in the grounds of Kensington Palace. Dubbed 'Nott Cott' by palace insiders, the pair will enjoy their engagement in the pied-a-terre Harry made his bachelor pad some four years ago - before which it was Prince William and Kate's first marital home. Nottingham Cottage is something of a starter home ideal for the newlywed couple - a two-bedroom property boasting rooms designed by Sir Christopher Wren, a couple of snug reception rooms and small yard. Self-contained, cosy and private, it is the smallest abode in the 17th century estate, and formerly the home of Prince Philip's private secretary, Brigadier Sir Miles Hunt-Davis, and his wife Gay. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also lived in the cottage before moving in to the 20-room Apartment 1A inside the palace - and Prince William famously had to stoop to avoid hitting his head on the low ceilings of the historic property. But when Harry made it his bachelor pad in 2013, the first thing he reportedly did was install a hammock in the yard.

A suspected shoplifter was shot by a police offer at a busy shopping mall after allegedly reaching for a replica handgun. The male suspect was thought to have been stealing sunglasses at the mall in Arlington, Texas, when an officer opened fire, believing the replica gun to be real. Police spokesman Lt.Christopher Cook says the incident occurred Sunday afternoon after a theft was reported at a store inside The Parks at Arlington mall.

Grigor Azatian, 25, and his father, Armen, were hundreds of yards offshore Friday at Pebble Beach, California, when the son was bitten in the right thigh. The bleeding man rescued by two off-duty deputies that had been fishing out on the water, one who was trained in emergency field medicine. Police in a helicopter also spotted a 'large aquatic animal off Pescadero Point, which may have been a shark,' according to the Mercury News.

She was excited for the little boy, who was born in September, to wade into the water for the first time, and joked that he 'nailed the backstroke'. Baier was seen with the president, alongside golfing legend Jack Nicklaus and his wife Barbara, in a photo posted to Instagram with the caption: 'Fun with POTUS! Rossano Rubicondi called police on himself to report that he was driving drunk, newly discovered court papers show. When police arrived Rubicondi, 45, took a swig of booze and begged a cop to put him behind bars. 'He had slur (sic) speech and when he was walking towards my car he could not keep his balance,' noted the officer at the scene. Rubicondi is the fourth - and most recent - of Ivana's exes. They married in April 2008 (left) and despite divorcing the following year, they remain on-again-off-again lovers.

A legendary Thanksgiving mix-up involving a grandmother inviting the wrong teenager to dinner has blossomed into a holiday tradition. His friend asked what he was doing and he said: 'F*****g spider, you didn't see that s***?'. His friend appears to be surprised at the sudden gunshot, as the spider was not visible in the video.

As a single mother, Michelle Srenco, 36, has to be both mother and father to her four kids. And at the elementary school fundraiser this year she took the job a bit more literally than usual. To make sure her two children who attend the school wouldn't feel left out at the event without a dad attending, she dressed up like a man for the occasion in a trucker hat, plaid shirt, and fake beard. She said her kids loved it, as did the other dads and the school principal.

A girl can be seen dangling from a second-story window as a man attempts to help her climb into his room. In the comical video posted Sunday, which has now been viewed over 4k times, the girl hangs outside for at least one whole minute. Initially the individuals taking the video are baffled with what is going on: 'What the heck, what are they doing?' 

This footage shows the moment an African wild cat launches itself 45 feet out of a tree in the Kgalagadi Transfontier Park on the border between South Africa, Namibia and Botswana. The footage was shot by 30-year-old field guide Warrick Davies, who said he was astounded that he managed to capture the rare moment live on camera. He said: 'This has to be one of the most spectacular sightings I have ever had. It was only the second caracal I have ever seen in the wild and to see the interaction with another rare cat makes even more extraordinary.'

As tourist Matthew Poole filmed the patient predator stalking its next meal on the Sand River bank at Beyond Kirkmans Kamp in South Africa, his shot was invaded by two lovers. While the focused leopard tries to focus on November 3, the tortoise couple begrudgingly force her to move forward as they got intimate. Clearly not perturbed by their big cat neighbour, the randy reptiles carry on until the leopard finally runs off and they are left to carry on their lovemaking. Matthew, from Limpopo, South Africa, said: 'I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

This is the shocking moment when a lorry crashed into a walkway over a busy dual carriage way, bringing the whole bridge down over the road. Video footage of the dramatic accident shows the vehicle colliding with the footbridge and the structure crashing down around traffic and pedestrians. Miraculously, no one was hurt during the accident which took place last week  on 23rd November in Guayaquil, a port city in Ecuador.

Researchers from the Global Wildlife Conservation found the new species in Kaieteur National Park and the Upper Potaro area in Guyana - parts of an intact forest landscape. More than 30 new species were found by the researchers, including six species of fish, three plants, 15 aquatic beetles and five odonates. One of the most interesting finds was a new species of tarantula (pictured), with a distinctive blue hue.
