Huddersfield 1-2 Manchester City: Raheem Sterling winner

A late Raheem Sterling goal proved to be the winner as the England winger bundled in to break Huddersfield hearts. Huddersfield took a shock lead on the brink of half-time as a corner was flicked on and then deflected in off the shoulder of Nicolas Otamendi. It didn't take long for the visitors to reply as Sergio Aguero scored from the spot after Raheem Sterling was felled in the area. Raheem Sterling bundled in the winner six minutes from time but it didn't look like he knew much about it as the save ricocheted off his thigh.

Pep Guardiola aimed a measured dig his Arsenal counterpart Arsene Wenger as Raheem Sterling broke his goalscoring record with a late winner at Huddersfield.

With the engrossing onfield action you may have overlooked the game's finer points. Do not fret, Sportsmail brings you a round-up of the things you may have missed at the John Smith's Stadium.

Southampton 4-1 Everton: Austin seals win with a brace

SOUTHAMPTON 4-1 EVERTON - RIATH AL-SAMARRAI AT ST MARY'S: For all his futile words about wanting to lead this rabble permanently, there was a look on David Unsworth’s face after Southampton’s third of four goals that suggested he might well be better off when the job finally goes elsewhere. He looked tortured, utterly despondent at the sheer ineptness of this side, too angry to even bother leaving his seat. And why wouldn’t he be? There was no surprise about what happened here because it is happening every game. The only question is whether the new guy is any better at solving the riddle of this expensive, gutless squad than the current one, who has now lost five of his seven games as caretaker. On this basis, you’d rather be caretaker at a maximum-security prison. An inmate, even.

Burnley 0-1 Arsenal: Alexis Sanchez wins it in injury time

BURNLEY 0-1 ARSENAL - IAN HERBERT AT TURF MOOR: Arsenal escaped Turf Moor with three points with another injury-time winner after referee Lee Mason awarded a late penalty. Alexis Sanchez stepped up to convert the penalty, which was awarded after James Tarkowski appeared to bring down Aaron Ramsey in the box. In a game of very few chances, Burnley proved exactly why they find themselves among the Premier League's so-called big-six but had nothing to show for their efforts.

FIVE things you missed from day four of the first Test

England's lower batting order were taken apart as Australia edged closer to a first Test victory during day four at the Gabba. Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon produced stellar displays as Joe Root's men struggled to find an answer for the Aussies' attack. But with wickets falling in such quick succession in another fierce day of action in Brisbane, you could be forgiven for missing some of the more subtle happenings. Fortunately Sportsmail has provided a handy list.

PAUL NEWMAN AT THE GABBA: Australia battered England on Sunday, dismissing them for 195, with David Warner and Cameron Bancroft adding 114. Australia need just 56 to win on Monday.

MARTIN SAMUEL AT THE GABBA: Australia were closers. At moments when this Test match was in the balance, Australia's big players - Smith, Lyon, Starc, Cummins - had come to the fore.

Swann felt there was a lack of belief in the England attack, while Ali's ineffectiveness stood in stark contrast to Australian spinner Nathan Lyon, who took three for 67 in England's second innings.

LAWRENCE BOOTH AT THE GABBA: A penny for Trevor Bayliss's thoughts as his lower order were dismantled. Actually, scrub that. We know exactly what he must have been thinking.

Tottenham 1-1 West Brom: Spurs drop more Wembley points

SAM CUNNINGHAM AT WEMBLEY: It took 14 minutes for West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster to start slowing play down. A Spurs shot went out for a goal kick and he took plenty of time over it. He did it again, a little later. And again. And again. And again. He held onto the ball when Spurs won a corner and a frustrated Dele Alli had to wrench it from his hands. Referee Michael Jones had a word. Foster protested his innocence. Boos and jeers rained down every time he took his time over a kick, from hands or the ground. Eventually, in the 82nd minute, he was shown a yellow card. So, too, was Allan-Romeo Nyom, for delaying unnecessarily over a throw-in.
