The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is supporting the assessment and coordination of the current emergency flood and typhoon response, and early recovery efforts in Viet Nam, which amount to USD 78,000. The organization is now actively reaching out to partners to look at how best to support the affected populations to effectively cope and recover.

On the occasion of World Tsunami Awareness Day, traditional games were organized around the Hoa Kiem Lake at the heart of Ha Noi city, to raise awareness on the risks of tsunamis and disaster prevention measures.
The comprehensive campaign conducted by the Viet Nam Disaster Management Authority (VNDMA), Ministry of Agriculture and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with support from the Government of Japan on tsunami awareness and disaster prevention in schools was launched in Cau Giay High school in Hanoi.
A competition, the SDG Challenge 2017, was launched to find innovative business ideas with global scalability and high social impact to realize SDGs.
