In a bold and breakthrough announcement today, the UN Development Programme appointed its first-ever Innovation Champion and the first-ever non-human – Sophia the robot designed by Hanson Robotics.

With Japan’s support, Indonesia held a series of tsunami drills at schools in Bali in August. The drill in Tanjung Benoa, a popular seaside spot in the southern part of Bali, is part of a regional project called ‘Partnerships for Strengthening School Preparedness for Tsunami in the Asia Pacific region.
