Chord may refer to:
The guitar is a popular musical instrument classified as a string instrument with anywhere from 4 to 18 strings, usually having 6. The sound is projected either acoustically or through electrical amplification (for an acoustic guitar or an electric guitar, respectively). It is typically played by strumming or plucking the strings with the right hand while fretting (or pressing against the frets) the strings with the fingers of the left hand. The guitar is a type of chordophone, traditionally constructed from wood and strung with either gut, nylon or steel strings and distinguished from other chordophones by its construction and tuning. The modern guitar was preceded by the gittern, the vihuela, the four-course Renaissance guitar, and the five-course baroque guitar, all of which contributed to the development of the modern six-string instrument.
There are three main types of modern acoustic guitar: the classical guitar (nylon-string guitar), the steel-string acoustic guitar, and the archtop guitar. The tone of an acoustic guitar is produced by the strings's vibration, amplified by the body of the guitar, which acts as a resonating chamber. The classical guitar is often played as a solo instrument using a comprehensive finger-picking technique. The term "finger-picking" can also refer to a specific tradition of folk, blues, bluegrass, and country guitar playing in the United States.
Music theory is the study of the practices and possibilities of music. It generally derives from observation of, and involves hypothetical speculation about how musicians and composers make music. The term also describes the academic study and analysis of fundamental elements of music such as pitch, rhythm, harmony, and form, and refers to descriptions, concepts, or beliefs related to music. Because of the ever-expanding conception of what constitutes music (see Definition of music), a more inclusive definition could be that music theory is the consideration of any sonic phenomena, including silence, as it relates to music.
The present article is about music theory properly speaking, i.e. about theories, speculations and hypotheses made about the various aspects or music. It describes the elements of music only insofar as they give way to such theories; other informations about these elements will be found in other articles such as Aspect of music and the specific parameters of music described there. Textbooks, especially in the United States of America, often also include under the term "theory" elements of musical acoustics, considerations of musical notation, techniques of (often tonal) composition (Harmony and Counterpoint), etc., which will not be dealt with as such here, but only as they were the subject of theories and hypotheses.
Bon Jovi is an American rock band from Sayreville, New Jersey. Formed in 1983, Bon Jovi consists of lead singer and namesake Jon Bon Jovi (born John Francis Bongiovi, Jr.), pianist and keyboard player David Bryan, and drummer Tico Torres. The band's lineup has remained mostly static during its history, with the only exceptions being the 1994 dismissal of bass player Alec John Such, who was unofficially replaced by Hugh McDonald, and the departure of longtime guitarist and co-songwriter Richie Sambora in 2013. In 1986, Bon Jovi achieved widespread global recognition with their third album, Slippery When Wet. The band's fourth album, New Jersey was equally successful in 1988. After touring and recording non-stop during the late 1980s, the band went on hiatus following the New Jersey Tour in 1990, during which time Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora both released successful solo albums. In 1992, the band returned with the album Keep the Faith. Their 2000 single "It's My Life", which followed a second hiatus, successfully introduced the band to a younger audience. Bon Jovi have been known to use different styles in their music, which has included country for their 2007 album Lost Highway. On March 12, 2013, Bon Jovi released their 12th studio album, What About Now.
UPDATE: Hello, this is Present Day Michael. I would like to point out that Past Michael chose his words poorly when he said "this chord doesn't work", and that statement has led to much anger and confusion throughout the eons (well since 2011 anyway). What he SHOULD have said was "by moving notes closer together than a minor third or farther apart than a major third, you're creating an entirely new chord that you're almost definitely not expecting, and you should watch this video https://youtu.be/Nr2XBoanNJY to understand the crazy nonsense that's happening here." The great thing about improvised YouTube videos that unexpectedly become popular is that you can never change a single thing about them ever. Present Day Michael apologizes profusely for Past Michael's mistakes. END OF TIME-WARP...

Suspended chords are odd little chords that don't follow the normal "rule of thirds" chord logic. But if you know how they work you can do some pretty cool things, like setting up tension into neighboring chords or hiding what key you're in. My book: http://www.billspianopages.com/how-to-really NEW: Seven Studies in Pop Piano: http://www.billspianopages.com/seven-studies All the basic piano chords in one epic tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1i-cFx7__M Here's a tutorial for all you music theory nerds. For ages, people have been emailing me to ask, "how do I work out the chords to a song on the piano?". This video should go some way to answering that question. Clearly it's pretty long by the usual standards of my tutorials, but that apparently simple question opens up a whole bunch of questions about how harmony, melody, song structure and so on actually work. I take you through a five-step process that should help you work out the chords for most song melodies. Something that's worth bearing in mind here is that...
You’re looking confused at what you see now
Getting worried about the things you think you’ve missed
You like looking at yourself, being part of
Something that no longer exists
This won’t keep in fashion
And embarrassment to keep your name
I’m now watching it fall apart in front of your eyes
In front of your eyes
And it breaks my heart, it breaks my heart
You’re still talking about your ambition
How you’ll make it somehow, someday
But you bought too many favours
And your life’s got in your way
You can’t understand no more
Just bury your head
Don’t listen to a word I said, a word I said
And it breaks my heart, it breaks my heart
But no one is listening anymore
