The Egyptian air forces destroyed 10 vehicles loaded with arms attempting to infiltrate into Egypt through its western borders with eastern Libya, the Egyptian military spokesman said in a statement on Saturday.
The military spokesman said "the forces detected and pursued 10 four-by-four vehicles loaded with amounts of weapons, ammunition and smuggled material at the western borderline," adding "the air forces dealt with them, destroyed them all and killed the terrorist elements therein."
Since May, the Egyptian air force has destroyed at least 100 vehicles loaded with arms while attempting to cross the Egyptian-Libyan border.
Egypt is concerned about its 1,200 km western border with eastern Libya that has been a smuggling destination of arms and militants over the past few years.
Egypt has been working with Libya's neighboring states to reach a political settlement in Libya, in order to maintain its own national security and uproot the cross-border terrorism.

The Egyptian Armed Forces(Arabic: القوات المسلحة المصرية; Arabic pronunciation: [el qowat el mosalaha el masriya]) are the military forces of Egypt and are one of the largest in Africa, the Middle East, and the world. They consist of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Air Defense Forces.
The supreme commander of the armed forces is the President of the Republic as provided for in the Egyptian constitution. The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces consists of 23 to 25 members, headed by the Commander-in-Chief and Defence Minister and his deputy, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces. Members of the council are formed of the leaders of the main military branches (Army – Air – Navy – Air Defense – Border Guard) and the leaders of the two armies (Second Army And Third Army) in addition to the leaders of the military regions (Western Military Zone – Northern Military Zone – Southern Military Zone – Central Military Zone – East Military Canal Zone) along with the heads of the upper bodies (Chief of Operations – Arming – Reinforcement and Logistics – Engineering – Training – Finance – Military Justice – Management and Administration), administrative managers (Military Intelligence and Director of Morale Affairs) and the Assistant Defense Secretary for Constitutional and Legal Affairs and Secretary General of the Department of Defense (Secretary of the Council).

Armed forces
The armed forces of a country are its government-sponsored defense, fighting forces, and organizations. They exist to further the foreign and domestic policies of their governing body and to defend that body and the nation it represents from external and internal aggressors. In broad usage, the terms "armed forces" and "military" are often treated synonymously, although in technical usage a distinction is sometimes made in which a country's armed forces may include both its military and other paramilitary forces. Armed force is the use of armed forces to achieve political objectives.
The study of the use of armed forces is called military science. Broadly speaking, this involves considering offense and defense at three "levels": strategy, operational art, and tactics. All three levels study the application of the use of force in order to achieve a desired objective.
Organization
In most countries the basis of the armed forces is the military, divided into basic military branches. However, armed forces can include other paramilitary structures.

Egyptian Army
The Egyptian Army officially Egyptian Ground Forces (Arabic: القوات البرية المصرية; Arabic pronunciation: [el qowat el brih el masriya]) the largest service branch within the Egyptian Armed Forces, and is the largest army in Africa.
The modern army was established during the reign of Muhammad Ali Pasha (1805-1849), who is considered to be the "founder of modern Egypt". Its most significant engagements in the 20th Century were in Egypt's five wars with the State of Israel (in 1948, 1956, 1967, 1967-1970, and 1973), one of which, the Suez Crisis of 1956, also saw it do combat with the armies of Britain, and France. The Egyptian army was also engaged heavily in the protracted North Yemen Civil War, and the brief Libyan-Egyptian War in July 1977. Its last major engagements was Operation Desert Storm, the liberation of Kuwait from Iraqi occupation in 1991, in which Egyptian army constituted the second largest contingent of allied forces.
As of 2014, the army has an estimated strength of 310,000 soldiers, of which, approx. 90-120,000 are professionals with the rest being conscripts.

The Egyptian
The Egyptian (Sinuhe egyptiläinen, Sinuhe the Egyptian) is a historical novel by Mika Waltari. It was first published in Finnish in 1945, and in an abridged English translation by Naomi Walford in 1949, apparently from Swedish rather than Finnish. So far, it is the only Finnish novel to be adapted into a Hollywood film, which it was, in 1954.
The Egyptian is the first and the most successful, of Waltari's great historical novels. It is set in Ancient Egypt, mostly during the reign of Pharaoh Akhenaten of the 18th Dynasty, whom some have claimed to be the first monotheistic ruler in the world.
The protagonist of the novel is the fictional character Sinuhe, the royal physician, who tells the story in exile after Akhenaten's fall and death. Apart from incidents in Egypt, the novel charts Sinuhe's travels in then Egyptian-dominated Syria (Levant), in Mitanni, Babylon, Minoan Crete, and among the Hittites.
The main character of the novel is named after a character in an ancient Egyptian text commonly known as The Story of Sinuhe. The original story dates to a time long before that of Akhenaten: texts are known from as early as the 12th dynasty.

The Egyptian air forces destroyed 10 vehicles loaded with arms attempting to infiltrate into Egypt through its western borders with eastern Libya, the Egyptian military spokesman said in a statement on Saturday.
The military spokesman said "the forces detected and pursued 10 four-by-four vehicles loaded with amounts of weapons, ammunition and smuggled material at the western borderline," adding "the air forces dealt with them, destroyed them all and killed the terrorist elements therein."
Since May, the Egyptian air force has destroyed at least 100 vehicles loaded with arms while attempting to cross the Egyptian-Libyan border.
Egypt is concerned about its 1,200 km western border with eastern Libya that has been a smuggling destination of arms and militants over the past few years.
Egypt has been working with Libya's neighboring states to reach a political settlement in Libya, in order to maintain its own national security and uproot the cross-border terrorism.

During the earliest periods stone and wood weapons were used, these early Egyptian weapons included slings, clubs, throwing sticks, stone maces and stone tipped spears. Egyptian celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the Arab-Israeli War were marred by a fresh wave of violence, with at least 53 people killed and over 200 wounded in clashes between police and supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi. On Friday, two days after a massive security crackdown killed hundreds of people, Egypt was bracing for more confrontation as protesters marchied in several cities and held a 'day of rage' following Friday prayers. Over its long history the Egyptians employed a wide variety of ancient weapons. During the earliest periods stone and wood weapons were used, these early Egyptian weapons included slings, clubs, throwing sticks, stone maces and stone tipped spears. Horn and wooden bows were also constructed and used with stone tipped arrows. By 4000 BC the Egyptians had started importing obsidian from the Eastern Red Sea areas for their weapons. This glass like stone has properties that allow it to have a sharper point than the sharpest metals; these almost molecularly thin blades are used even today for scalpels.
By the time upper and lower Egypt were first united and their society coalesced around 3150 BC, the Egyptians had already been using bronze weapons. They used bronze for spearheads, axes and maces. It was also during this period that the composite bow came into use, made with horn and wood. Over the following centuries as the Pharaoh's dominated ancient Egyptian society they began to standardize weapons, stock pile arsenals and borrow weapons systems from invading peoples.

Ancient Egypt was an ancient civilization of eastern North Africa, concentrated along the Northern reaches of the Nile River in Egypt. The civilization coalesced around 3150 BC[1] with the political unification of Upper and Lower Egypt under the first pharaoh, and it developed over the next three millennia.[2] Its history occurred in a series of stable Kingdoms, separated by periods of relative instability known as Intermediate Periods. Ancient Egypt reached its pinnacle during the New Kingdom, after which it entered a period of slow decline. Egypt was conquered by a succession of foreign powers in this late period, and the rule of the pharaohs officially ended in 31 BC when the early Roman Empire conquered Egypt and made it a province.[3] Although the Egyptian military forces in the Old and Middle kingdoms were well maintained, the new form that emerged in the New Kingdom showed the state becoming more organized to serve its needs.[4]
For most parts of its long history, ancient Egypt was unified under one government. The main military concern for the nation was to keep enemies out. The arid plains they wanted to get rid of and deserts surrounding Egypt were inhabited by nomadic tribes who occasionally tried to raid or settle in the fertile Nile river valley. Nevertheless, the great expanses of the desert formed a barrier that protected the river valley and was almost impossible for massive armies to cross. The Egyptians built fortresses and outposts along the borders east and west of the Nile Delta, in the Eastern Desert, and in Nubia to the south. Small garrisons could prevent minor incursions, but if a large force was detected a message was sent for the main army corps. Most Egyptian cities lacked city walls and other defenses.
The history of ancient Egypt is divided into three kingdoms and two intermediate periods. During the three Kingdoms Egypt was unified under one government. During the Intermediate periods (the periods of time between Kingdoms) government control was in the hands of the various nomes (provinces within Egypt) and various foreigners. The geography of Egypt served to isolate the country and allowed it to thrive. This circumstance set the stage for many of Egypt's military conquests. They enfeebled their enemies by using small projectile weapons, like bows and arrows. They also had chariots which they used to charge at the enemy.

At least 53 people were killed and 268 others injured across Egypt, AFP cited senior health ministry official Ahmed al-Ansari as saying. At least 45 individuals were killed in Cairo and another five south of the capital, according to the official.
Deputy Interior Minister General Sayed Shafiq told local media that the security situation is now "under control" in Cairo.
At least 423 people were arrested in Cairo and Giza during clashes on Sunday, the country's Interior Ministry said. According to the Ministry's Facebook page, 180 people were detained in Giza, and another 243 people were apprehended in downtown Cairo.
n Cairo, Egyptian police fired tear gas to disperse pro-Morsi demonstrators as they marched towards Tahrir Square, where pro-army supporters gathered to celebrate the 1973 war anniversary. The tear gas and birdshots reportedly sent protesters running towards western Giza's Dokki neighborhood. Police chased demonstrators and beat them up before detaining them, a witness told AFP.
There were reports of heavy gunfire, but they could not be confirmed. Ahram Online quoted politician and former presidential candidate Bothaina Kamel telling Aswat Masriya that she was physically assaulted and that pro-Morsi demonstrators smashed her car windows as she drove through Dokki on Sunday.

It was clear minutes after Egypt Military ruler, Field Marshall HussainTantawi made his speech following 4 days of brutal force by security forces against protestors, that the concessions offered were simply not enough for protestors who were in the square and witnessed the violence and blood shed.
In his speech Tantawi said that the army is comitted to handing over power to civillians and that that an investigation in the violence will be conducted.
Protestors say demands are clear, they want to see power transferred to a civilian authority and they want it now. Despite several truce agreements being reached between protestors and security forces, as violence broke out again in the square no one seemed surprised.
The last truce reached was brokered by Azhar Sheikhs. One of these Sheikhs was seriously injured less than hour after reaching the agreement.
These events intensified the sense of defiance in protestors who vowed to keep on their protest in the square till the Military council hands over power.
Currently a sit in of thousands is being held in Tahrir square.
This is not a typical Tahrir sit in. Clashes contiue in the streets meters away. Here is where the injured are aided, as well this is a central collection stationfor medical and food supplies.
Protestors in Tahrir are currently relying on social networking websites to organize much of the logistics needed in the square.
Central stations have been set up around Cairo where medical aids and other supplies are collected and then taken to Tahrir.
Several field hospital have also been set up around the the Square, all of which are operated by volunteer doctors who have been treating the wounds from semi-rubber bullets and at times live ammunition.
Tanatawi had announced during his speech that the presidential elections would be held at mid 2012 instead of what had been announced earlier by the military council which placed the vote well into 2013.
However, protestors in Tahrir square say that after leaving more than 35 casulties, the military simply can not be trusted and nothing less than a full transfer to a civilian government will diffuse the situation.
