Brighton police station. From the station commander to detectives, beat officers to front desk staff – three hundred and fifty officers battle to keep the peace in one of Britain’s most vibrant cities.
At a city centre shopping arcade, Ami deals with a toddler found wandering alone in the street. Across the city, Sergeant Steve French leads a team of detectives on a brothel raid - where he suspects several Romanian girls may have been trafficked.
Officers are called out to a would-be suspicious death where all is not what it seems. And on the day of the annual Children's Parade - Frenchy is called to the Public toilets where a dead body's been found.

The current monarch—since 6 February 1952—is Queen Elizabeth II. The UK consists of four countries: England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The latter three have devolved administrations, each with varying powers, based in their capitals, Edinburgh, Cardiff, and Belfast, respectively. The nearby Isle of Man, Bailiwick of Guernsey and Bailiwick of Jersey are not part of the United Kingdom, being Crown dependencies with the British Government responsible for defence and international representation.

The City Of London contains the Tower, an historic landmark with a remarkable history. A mighty medieval fortress with 13 towers that throughout its 900 years, has served many functions and from the Middle Ages, it was a heavily fortified prison.
After the medieval St. Paul's Cathedral was destroyed by a devastating fire in 1666, Christopher Wren was ordered to re-build it with a dome. During the 36 years of its construction, its design was frequently altered until finally a wonderful masterpiece of church architecture was created.
The Monument is the city's tallest freestanding stone column and a reminder of the Great Fire of London that destroyed 80 percent of the city. In four days, more than 13,000 buildings were destroyed and the Monument was built on the site of the bakery in which the fire began.
Since the reign of Queen Victoria, Buckingham Palace has served as London's royal residence. A garden of mulberry trees once grew on the site of today's palace and the Duke of Buckingham subsequently added a simple brick built residence. Around 60 years later, George II purchased the site for his wife and George IV eventually began to design an extensive palace complex.
The highlight of any holiday in London must be the largest Ferris wheel in the world, the London Eye. Situated on the banks of the Thames, it rises high into the sky, opposite the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.
The former centre of the largest empire in the world, London is still a city of superlatives that attracts millions of visitors each year. Exciting both day and night, London is a modern city with age old traditions and a long and colorful history.

Vice is an international magazine focused on arts, culture, and news topics. Founded in 1994 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in later years the company expanded into Vice Media, with divisions including the magazine, a website, a film production company, a record label, and a publishing imprint. As of March 2013, the magazine's editor-in-chief is Rocco Castoro[2] and its global editor is documentary filmmaker Andy Capper.[3]
The magazine's editors have championed the "Immersionist" school of journalism, regarded as a DIY antithesis to the methods practiced by mainstream news outlets, and the monthly publication is frequently focused on a single theme.
Established by Suroosh Alvi, Shane Smith, and Gavin McInnes, the magazine was launched in 1994 as the Voice of Montreal with government funding, and the intention of the founders was to provide work and a community service.[4]
When the editors later sought to dissolve their commitments with the original publisher Alix Laurent, they bought him out and changed the name to Vice in 1996. In search of more streetwear advertising income, the magazine's personnel relocated to New York City in 1999.[5] Andy Capper co-founded the UK division of Vice with Andrew Creighton.
Numerous media sources reported in mid-August 2013 that Rupert Murdoch's corporation 21st Century Fox had invested US$70 million in Vice Media, resulting in a 5 percent stake. Following the announcement, Smith explained, "We have set ourselves up to build a global platform but we have maintained control

VICE includes the work of journalists, columnists, fiction writers, graphic artists and cartoonists, and photographers. Vice's content has shifted from dealing mostly with independent arts and pop cultural matters to covering more serious news topics.[citation needed] The magazine's editors have championed the "Immersionist" school of journalism, regarded as something of a DIY antithesis to the methods practiced by mainstream news outlets, and has published an entire issue of articles written in accordance with this ethos. Entire issues of the magazine have also been dedicated to the concerns of Iraqi people,[8] Native Americans,[9] Russian people,[10] people with mental disorders,[11] and people with mental disabilities.[12] Vice also publishes an annual guide for students in the United Kingdom.[13]
In 2007, a Vice announcement was published on the Internet: "After umpteen years of putting out what amounted to a reference book every month, we started to get bored with it. Besides, too many other magazines have ripped it and started doing their own lame take on themes. So we're going to do some issues, starting now, that have whatever we feel like putting in them."[14]
Politics
In a March 2008 interview with The Guardian, Smith was asked about the magazine's political allegiances and he stated, "We're not trying to say anything politically in a paradigmatic left/right way ... We don't do that because we don't believe in either side. Are my politics Democrat or Republican? I think both are horrific. And it doesn't matter anyway. Money runs America; money runs everywhere."[4]
Founder Smith has stated: "I grew up being a socialist and I have problems with it because I grew up in Canada [and] I've spent a lot of time in Scandinavia, where I believe countries legislate out creativity. They cut off the tall trees. Everyone's a C-minus. I came to America from Canada because Canada is stultifyingly boring and incredibly hypocritical. Thanks, Canada."[5]

Too often services are failing to address the problems faced by women sleeping rough or in invisible homelessness conditions.
According to Alexia Murphy (Director at St Mungo’s) “Women make up 26% of people who accessed homelessness services in 2013, which in real numbers is around 10,000 people. At the sharpest end of homelessness, 786 women were recorded sleeping rough in London last year”. The overall number of people recorded sleeping rough has risen by 37% since 2010 and the exact number seems to be much higher.
We also know that “there are high levels of vulnerability within the female homeless population - mental ill-health, drug and alcohol dependencies, childhoods spent in care, experiences of sexual abuse and other traumatic life experiences are all commonplace” (Crisis.org)
With the extra cuts in welfare happening now, this can only get worse for all involved.

Sharon Poon
The Marylebone Project is the largest hostel in the United Kingdom for women affected by homelessness. Sharon runs the social enterprise arm which consists of Space in Marylebone (facilities management) and Munch in Marylebone (catering). It involves some serious stuff (internal & external marketing, strategic planning, budgeting, working with external partners) and some fun stuff (taste testing, baking).
In April 2015, Sharon became the Centre Manager which involves running the operations of the Day Centre for rough sleepers. She is responsible to run activities programme and developing more employment opportunities for service users. She creates partnership opportunities with external stakeholders for fundraising and volunteering.

Faye is the founder of Unseen Tours an award-winning, not-for-profit social enterprise that offers alternative walking tours through London's most vibrant and interesting neighbourhoods, with homeless and formerly homeless guides
Each guide takes visitors through a different area of London, showing both famous landmarks and hidden gems off-the-beaten track, with their own distinctive styles, and sharing their own stories and views of homelessness.
As a social enterprise, the guides receive 60% of the ticket sales. The remaining 40% is reinvested into a common kitty out of which the guides also receive their monthly travel and mobile phone-top ups, meaning that, in real terms, they get around 80% of total ticket revenue.

EPISODE 1 - Shown on ITV1 on 2nd Sept 2015 at 9:00PM
In the first programme officers are seen dealing with a dangerous prowler preying on lone women, a raid on a drugs den and the aftermath of a bloody glassing after a Friday night fracas.
At the daily CID briefing Detective Sergeant Julie Greenwood briefs her team on an incident where a woman alone at home at night found a man standing in her front room. When the woman challenged him, he fled from the property. Officers believe the prowler is linked to an incident the previous week when a young woman awoke to find a man sexually touching her in bed.
A potential suspect is raised who fits the description given at both incidents. He’s a rapist recently released from prison, and is living close to one of the victims. The officers need to arrest him and put him on an ID parade.
While Julie’s team are handling the investigation into the prowler, the cameras follow other officers as they plan a major operation to carry out a night time raid on a drugs den to catch a drug dealer. Intelligence has indicated more than 200 bags of heroin are in the property.
After securing a warrant to enter the property, the officers have to carry out a comprehensive risk assessment to ensure their own safety. Detective Sergeant Dee Wells says two of the main reasons officers want to do the job is to “nick burglars and drug dealers, to get people off the streets and catch them in the act”.
The officers’ investigations reveal a previous firearm incident at the address. The raid on the drugs den has to be postponed until the following morning because it is considered too dangerous without the help of specially trained officers.
With specially trained officers the raid on the drugs den can go ahead. The cameras follow the officers as they break into the flat. Once the three occupants have been removed, the team conduct a thorough search of the property. They don’t find the heroin they expected, however they do uncover a large quantity of other drugs, enough to charge the occupants with possession with intent to supply.
The officers are also called to raid a flat connected to a gang of money launderers. The flat is empty but their search reveals a huge haul of cocaine with a potential value of £60,000.
Out on the busy streets of Brighton on a Saturday night officers are trying to keep control of the revellers.
One man has had a glass smashed on his head, and has to go to hospital. At first he tells police he has no idea of who attacked him, or why. As the investigation continues it appears there’s a previous fracas that the man is involved in that evening. However an extensive trawl through CCTV fails to reveal any evidence of the incident. With no forensic evidence either it is one crime which has to be filed undetected.

A new observational documentary series for ITV reveals the reality behind the policing of one of Britain’s most vibrant cities.
Brighton, with its seaside location and fun reputation, attracts more than eight million visitors a year. With unique access to Brighton’s main police station, the three part series follows the officers as they fight to keep law and order in a city with a quarter of a million residents.
From Divisional Commander, Nev Kemp, to the detectives and officers on patrol, the films follow the daily working lives of the staff at Brighton Nick.
The series was filmed over the Summer of 2014 by Renegade Pictures. Series Producer Ashok Prasad says: “With a cast of engaging officers and detectives, The Nick is the real-life Bill / Hill Street Blues, and it tells the intimate story of what it’s really like to work in a modern police station.”
Each episode tells the story of a few days at the Nick as investigations unfold - from initial call-outs to arrest, from briefings to raids.
In different episodes we follow the search for a sexual predator who's been breaking into women's homes at night, the tracking down of a heroin-addicted serial conman who's been targeting the elderly in their own homes and the aftermath of a serious glassing where a man nearly lost his life.
The cameras follow the officers as they plan and execute a raid on a drugs' den, the break-up of a brothel and a suspected suspicious death where all is not as it seems. Meanwhile - members of the public sign on at the front desk, drunks are moved on and sex toys and drugs are booked into the property store.
