The Robba Fountain (Slovene: Robbov vodnjak), since the first half of the 20th century also known as the Fountain of the Three Carniolan Rivers (Vodnjak treh kranjskih rek), is the fountain that stands in front of Ljubljana Town Hall at Town Square in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. It was originally made in 1751 by the Italian sculptor Francesco Robba and is one of the city's most recognisable symbols.
The fountain was commissioned to Francesco Robba in 1743, but was unveiled only in 1751. In its creation, Robba was inspired by Bernini's Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi (Fountain of the Four Rivers) at Piazza Navona during a visit to Rome, but he modelled it after Fontana del Pantheon, the fountain by Filippo Barigioni at Piazza della Rotonda. In 2006, the original fountain was renovated and moved into the National Gallery, whereas at Town Square it has been replaced by a replica.
The fountain consists of three male figures with jugs, which came several years after the fountain's creation to supposedly represent the gods of the three rivers of Carniola: the Ljubljanica, Sava and Krka, and later as well the three territorial units of Carniola: Upper Carniola, Lower Carniola, and Inner Carniola. Steps that lead up to the fountain represent the Carniolan mountains. The water pool has a shape of a shell. In the center of the fountain stands a 10-metre (33 ft) obelisk. The sculptural part of the fountain is made of the Carrara marble, the obelisk is made of the local Lesno Brdo marble and the pool is made of the local Podpeč limestone.
Ljubljana (Slovene: [ljuˈbljàːna];[luˈblàːna], also known by other alternative names) is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. During antiquity, it was the site of a Roman city called Emona. It was under Habsburg rule from the Middle Ages until the dissolution of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918.
Situated at the middle of a trade route between the northern Adriatic Sea and the Danube region, it was the historical capital of Carniola, a Slovene-inhabited part of the Habsburg Monarchy, and it has been the cultural, educational, economic, political, and administrative center of independent Slovenia since 1991. Its central geographic location within Slovenia, transport connections, concentration of industry, scientific and research institutions and cultural tradition are contributing factors to its leading position.
Costa Mediterranea is a Spirit-class cruise ship operated by the Costa Crociere cruise line. She was constructed at the Kvaerner Masa-Yards (currently Aker Finnyards) in Helsinki, Finland at a cost of over €400 million. Like sister ship Costa Atlantica, her design was derived from the Carnival Cruise Lines Spirit-class ships, Carnival Spirit, Carnival Pride, Carnival Legend and Carnival Miracle. On June 16, 2003 she departed on her maiden voyage from Genoa to Spain and Portugal.
Public rooms aboard Costa Mediterranea such the ten floor high Maschera d'Argento atrium, were inspired by Italy's 16th and 17th century palazzi and decorated to reflect the ship's motto "Mai visto niente di simile" (You've never seen anything like it). The twelve decks are named after mythological and historical characters: Circe, Tersicore, Bacco, Teseo, Orfeo, Narciso, Prometeo, Pegaso, Armonia, Cleopatra, Pandora and Medea.
http://ljubljana.inyourpocket.com One of the most famous landmarks in the city, this lovely 1751 fountain is named after its creator, the Italian Baroque sculptor Francesco Robba (1698-1757), and is also known as The Fountain of Three Carniolan Rivers. It was the last of Robbas Ljubljana creations. The eight years it took him to complete it essentially bankrupted the man, and he finally left the city for Zagreb. Based loosely on the grand fountains of Rome, the artists masterpiece features three river gods, supposedly representing the Krka, Ljubljanica and Sava rivers. Stolnica svetega Nikolaja v Ljubljani je stolnica Nadškofije Ljubljana in župnijska cerkev Župnije Ljubljana - Sv. Nikolaj. Gradili so jo od leta 1701 do leta 1706 po načrtih kapucinskega brata Florencijana in italijanskega umetnika Andrea Pozza na mestu, kjer je pred tem stala gotska cerkev; takrat sicer še brez zidane kupole, ki so jo postavili šele leta 1841. Notranjost so oblikovali slikarja Giulio Quaglio in Matej Langus, kiparji Francesco Robba, Angelo Pozzo, Paolo in Giuseppe Groppelli ter arhitekt Jože Plečnik.

Ljubljana is the capital and largest city of Slovenia. Ljubljana has a nickname Little Prague because it is a charming town full of artists, museums, galleries, restaurants and cafes. Prešeren Square, the central square in the city, formed in the 17th century, when the Franciscan Church of the Annunciation was built. At the eastern side of the square, the Statue of France Preseren, for the greatest poet in the nation, was erected. The Triple Bridge connects the square with the old medieval town. In this historical part of the city is situated St Nicholas's Cathedral, one of the most important churches in Slovenia. Also in the old town, but a bit away from the main tourist area, is the St James’s Church which houses beautiful altars. The seat of the City Municipality of Ljubljana, th...

Ljubljana ima nad 40 delujočih vodnjakov v ožjem jedru mesta. Redki med njimi imajo danes le funkcionalno vlogo oskrbe z vodo. Večina jih krasi trge in parke in imajo izrazito kulturno-zgodovinsko ozadje ter vlogo prostorske dekoracije. Odlikuje jih precejšnja likovna vrednost. Pomembnejša sta poznobaročna Robbov vodnjak in Narcisov vodnjak (arkade atrija Mestne hiše), oba delo v Benetkah šolanega kiparja Francesca Robbe. Posebnost sta rekonstruirana zgodnjebaročna Neptunov (dvorišče SAZU, kopija kipa) in Herkulov vodnjak (Stari trg, rekonstrukcija), oba delo v Ljubljani delujočega Janeza Khumerstainerja.
