Advocacy can include many activities that a person or organization undertakes including media campaigns, public speaking, commissioning and publishing research or conducting exit poll or the filing of an amicus brief. There are several forms of advocacy, each representing a different approach in a way to initiate changes in the society. One of the most popular forms is social justice advocacy.

The 'story' used throughout these three x 15 minute videos is the well known first verse of the nursery rhyme 'Jack and Jill'. These three videos can be used for 'self study' or as background to a formal 'beginning trial advocacy' course being taught face to face or in a mixed mode of face to face and online.

Dr. Joy then explains how vegans can apply their understanding of carnism to communicate more effectively with non-vegans, advocate more strategically, feel more grounded in and better able to articulate their own choices, and feel more empowered living in a dominant carnistic culture.
This speech was recorded at the International Animal Rights Conference 2013 in Luxembourg. http://www.ar-conference.com Should animal advocates use graphic images of animals suffering, or cute pictures of happy animals, in trying to get their message across? What simple techniques make people twice as likely to donate or volunteer their time to help animals? What messages have been shown to be most effective in persuading people to move toward vegan eating? While we don`t often think of it this way, getting people to make animal-friendly choices is a science. Decades of published research make clear that certain approaches will work better than others, and our assumptions about what works best are often wrong. The hundreds of studies conducted on vegetarian eating also give us unique ins...
