Zaytoven
Xavier Dotson, better known as Zaytoven, is an American disk jockey and record producer born in Germany. He was raised in San Francisco but later moved to Atlanta, Georgia. Since then, he has worked with Gucci Mane extensively, contributing at least one song on every one of his albums, and doing many mixtapes with him. He has also worked with other notable Atlanta artists, such as Soulja Boy Tell 'Em, Gorilla Zoe, Young Jeezy, OJ Da Juiceman, Future, Doe B, Usher, Migos (for their Hot 100 hit "Versace"), and other non-Atlanta artists such as Nicki Minaj, producing hundreds of songs in total. He won a Grammy Award in 2011 for his contribution to Usher's Raymond vs. Raymond album, as a co-producer and writer for the single "Papers" along with Sean Garrett.

Mike Will Made It
Michael Len Williams II (born March 23, 1989), professionally known as Mike Will Made It (often stylized as Mike WiLL Made-It) or simply Mike Will, is an American record producer and songwriter from Atlanta, Georgia. He is best known for producing trap beats for several Southern hip hop artists as well as for producing several hit singles, such as "Mercy" by GOOD Music, "No Lie" by 2 Chainz, "Bandz a Make Her Dance" by Juicy J, "Pour It Up" by Rihanna, Faded by Mariah Carey, "Love Me" by Lil Wayne, "Body Party" by Ciara and "We Can't Stop" by Miley Cyrus, among others. He has released four mixtapes while his debut album is long delayed.
Early life
Michael Williams was born in Marietta, Georgia, the youngest of three children with two older sisters. Mike Will's mother was in a gospel group, singing for Dottie Peoples, when Mike was young and according to Mike Will, his uncle was an accomplished guitar player. Growing up, Mike Will was athletic, participating in a number of sports, including basketball, baseball, and football, with dreams of becoming a professional athlete. As a teenager, Mike Will first developed his talent for music by re-playing popular instrumentals that he heard on the radio while he and his friends would freestyle to them. In a number of interviews, Mike WiLL has mentioned, in particular, re-playing the instrumental for "Still Fly", a popular song by the southern rap group Big Tymers, on a Casio brand keyboard, and has also mentioned re-playing the song "Young'n (Holla Back)" by New York rapper Fabolous on production equipment at a local music store.

Frannie Kelley | December 12, 2016 — Gucci Mane's smile makes you feel like there's still some good in the world. He's really earned it, and that thing is infectious. We asked him to come to NPR because we wanted to be a part of the victory tour he's been on this year: In the past six months or so, Gucci Mane was released early from the federal penitentiary; he proposed to his girlfriend on the kiss cam at a Hawks game, and she said yes; he's releasing a total of three albums, all over which he celebrates his newly committed sobriety; he and Courtney Love look like they get along; and he remade "Jingle Bells."
In this Tiny Desk concert, Gucci Mane performed with just his longtime producer and friend, Zaytoven, on piano. Their version of stripped-down is a minimal backing track and plenty of church-groomed trills. They performed with the understanding that everyone in the room knew their songs — one from 2009 and two from this year — and knew that this performance would represent a surreal dip into a parallel universe where ingenuity is rewarded, snobbery is gone and love is real. Gucci Mane agreed to this unlikely set as a gesture to those people — for remembering his work while he was away, and for cheering on his resurgence, his health, his charm and his singular nature.

Over the years, RBMA has brought together artists for joint lectures on the couch. For our Festival New York in 2016, it was the turn of three beatmakers from hip hop’s biggest hit-making city of recent vintage: Atlanta. ATL favorite sons Metro Boomin, Sonny Digital and Zaytoven appeared at Red Bull Studios New York, discussing their early influences and breakout hits, the rise of trap and the producer drop, and their approach to sampling and collaboration. Their hits include work for Future, Drake, Migos, iLoveMakonnen and many, many more.
The Red Bull Music Academy is a global music institution committed to fostering creativity in music. We celebrate music, its culture, and the transformative minds behind it. Begun in 1998, the Academy has taken the core principles that underlie its annual workshop for selected participants and applied this curatorial approach to events, lectures, and city-wide festivals throughout the year.

Zaytoven on Gucci Mane Recording his Raps on Voicemail While in Prison
Zaytoven stopped by VladTV to talk with us about Gucci's release, his weight loss, how Gucci recorded songs while behind bars, and much much more. Zaytoven explained he knew that Gucci was going to be released almost two or three weeks before. Vlad went into Gucci Mane's dramatic weight loss, and Zaytoven explained, "He's been locked up for three years, Gucci is always thinking forward so he was probably thinking how can I shock the people.. make the attention on me... He came out all the way in shape." Zaytoven also talked about how Gucci Mane wrote 1000 songs, "He'll call me and rap me a song.. he'd be like 'Zay hang up I finna call right back and leave you a voicemail with me rapping on it...'". Dedicated to his craft of manipulating sounds to create poignant Hip-Hop tracks, the veteran DJ and producer speaks candidly about his devotion to his faith as it relates to his profession. Secure with his fortified relationship with the Lord, the ardent Christian who treats his body as a temple explains that even though he doesn't drink, smoke, or use profanity, he's been able to successfully operate in an environment that's filled with those indulgences without giving in to temptation.
Even though the "Versace" beatsmith works around other rappers like Gucci Mane who make music about their vices, Zaytoven maintains that he stays focused and is not really a party animal, also claiming that he's never been high or even caught a contact-high, saying "I never felt like I was high before."
Given the respect that he's garnered from his peers, they don't smoke around him if they're in his environment, but if he's at a studio he doesn't trip and reveals, "I really can't tell them to stop smoking."
He then breaks down his perspective, "Everybody knows when they come to me it's something totally different...All the big rappers they come to my house. They come to my home, and it's been like that ever since we started; so, it's a different respect. You'd be surprised how much they brag on that. It threw me off so much, with Gucci being the guy that he is, as soon as he would introduce me to somebody else that's big or major, or meant something to him, he'll brag about me. But, he'll brag about the fact that I don't drink or smoke, or cuss. 'He'll be in church every Sunday.' That was kinda weird to me, but it meant something to me."

http://www.vladtv.com - Famed producer Zaytoven has seen many wins in his career. From 1999 to today, the producer has worked with the likes of music's finest like Nicki Minaj, Usher, The Migos, Gucci Mane and more.
In this exclusive interview with VladTV, Zaytoven reveals how he came to reach such successful wins and how he managed to do so as an independent artist in the music industry.
First, Zay explains how working extensively on your craft can help cultivate a distinct sound. While he didn't reach success until 2004, he says the time doesn't exist anymore for new acts because of viral fame. Making beats everyday and showcasing his work with artists helped his name build buzz.
Another tip Zaytoven recommends is staying true to yourself. Following the independent path inside and out has kept him grounded. He explains how Gucci Mane found faith in him because he used organs and piano sounds in his beats. Since it wasn't the trendy sound spreading around Atlanta, Gucci was impressed by his work.
Lastly, Zaytoven says the "favor of God" has given him success. He prays and keeps a spiritual balance when it comes to his life path.

Zaytoven stopped by VladTV to talk with us about Gucci's release, his weight loss, how Gucci recorded songs while behind bars, and much much more. Zaytoven explained he knew that Gucci was going to be released almost two or three weeks before. Vlad went into Gucci Mane's dramatic weight loss, and Zaytoven explained, "He's been locked up for three years, Gucci is always thinking forward so he was probably thinking how can I shock the people.. make the attention on me... He came out all the way in shape." Zaytoven also talked about how Gucci Mane wrote 1000 songs, "He'll call me and rap me a song.. he'd be like 'Zay hang up I finna call right back and leave you a voicemail with me rapping on it...'". He and Gucci perfected the pre-cording process while he was in prison.
None of Gucci's jailhouse songs made it on his new album "Everybody's Looking" due to the rapper jumping in the studio the very next day he got out of jail. Zaytoven said the first session back together again was down to the music. The producer talked about their creative process. "When it's me and Gucci I sit and do the beat, it might take me 5-10 minutes to come up with something real fast cause this is how Gucci likes to work. If I take too long Gucci might lose his vibe and then he don't even wanna do the song no more; I think that's how we got so much work done and music done..."
So what's the difference between sober Gucci and intoxicated Gucci? According to Zaytoven, it's fairly different. "I've been working with Gucci from the beginning; he wasn't really intoxicated in the beginning, the way we working now is how we worked when we first started. The only difference is when Gucci's intoxicated you gonna get more records that probably doesn't make any sense but they still feel good, there's gonna be something special about it." Gucci Mane's hit single "Pills" was recorded when he was intoxicated. Sober Gucci, however, was able to record, "Everybody's Looking" in just four days.
