Thomas Bligh
Lieutenant General Thomas Bligh (1685–1775) was a British soldier, best known for his service during the Seven Years' War when he led a series of amphibious raids, known as "descents" on the French coastline. Despite initial success in these operations, they came to an end following the disastrous Battle of St Cast.
Career
Bligh was born in 1685, the son of Irish politician, Thomas Bligh and his wife Elizabeth née Napier. During his long service in the British army, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant General. In 1745, during the War of the Austrian Succession, as a Brigadier, he took over command of allied troops at the battle of Melle and led part of the defeated force to safety. In 1758 he was appointed to command the descents, at the age of seventy-three. He led an initial successful Raid on Cherbourg in August September 1758, capturing and destroying the town's fortifications. He then re-embarked and moved along the coast to St Malo. There, confronted with adverse weather conditions, they were able only to land some of their force, which was soon confronted by a larger French force with had hurriedly marched there from Brest. In the scramble to get his men back onto the ships, Bligh fought a confused rearguard action, the Battle of Saint Cast suffering between 750-1000 casualties before he was finally able to re-embark his men. They then sailed for England.
Thomas Bligh (1654–1710)
Thomas Bligh (1654 – 28 August 1710) was an Irish politician.
He was elected to the Irish House of Commons as Member of Parliament for Athboy, from 1692 to 1693, then for County Meath from 1695 to 1699 and 1703 to 1710.
Around November 1706 he was appointed to the Privy Council of Ireland.

James Thomas (born 17 August 1990, Newport, Wales) is a Welsh rugby union player. A Number 8 forward, he has represented Wales at Under-18 and Under-20 level.
Thomas played for Blackwood RFC, Ebbw Vale RFC, the Newport Gwent Dragons Under-20 regional team and Newport RFC. He made his debut for the Newport Gwent Dragons senior team versus Sale Sharks on 6 November 2009 as a second half replacement.
On 22 December 2009 he was named in the Wales Under 20 Squad for the 2010 Under-20 Six Nations tournament. In May 2010 he was selected in the Wales Under 20 Squad for the Junior World Cup in Argentina in June 2010.

James Thomas (Governor of Maryland)
James Thomas (March 11, 1785 – December 25, 1845) served as the 23rd Governor of the state of Maryland in the United States from 1833 to 1836. He practiced medicine and served as judge in several courts throughout Maryland, and served in the Maryland State Senate from 1824 to 1830.
Biography
He was born at "De la Brooke Manor" in St. Mary's County, Maryland on March 11, 1785, the son of William Thomas and Catherine Boarman. He entered St. John’s College with the class of 1800, but he did not graduate. He graduated from Charlotte Hall Military Academy in 1804. Thomas studied medicine in Philadelphia and received his doctor’s degree there in 1807. In 1808, he married his cousin, Elizabeth Coates.
He practiced medicine in St. Mary's County until the outbreak of the War of 1812. Thomas also served as a justice of the peace and, from 1810 to 1812, was a member of the Levy Court of St. Mary’s County. He was commissioned as major in the Fourth Maryland Cavalry and later brevetted a major general.
