Allu Sirish

Allu Sirish is an Indian actor of the Telugu film industry. Sirish made his acting debut with Radha Mohan's social drama Gowravam Gouravam. which was a bi-lingual film shot in Telugu and Tamil. In 2014, his second film Kotta Janta was released.

Early life

Allu Sirish was born in Chennai on 30 May 1987. His father Allu Aravind is a film producer .

Sirish is the youngest of three children. His elder brother is Telugu actor Allu Arjun. He is the grandson of Allu Rama Lingaiah, and the nephew of Chiranjeevi. His cousin Ram Charan is also an actor in Telugu films.

Sirish did his schooling in PSBB Higher Secondary, Chennai and moved to Hyderabad during his 10th standard. He graduated in Mass Communication (Journalism) from R.D National College.

Career

1990 -2010

Sirish acted as a child artist in his uncle Chiranjeevi's Bollywood debut Pratibandh in 1990. In 1996, he had a role in Mayabazaar, directed by Dasari Narayana Rao.

He co-produced the film Ghajini along with his father Allu Aravind.

South Indian International Movie Awards

South Indian International Movie Awards, also known as the SIIMA Awards, rewards the artistic and technical achievements of the South Indian film industry.

The ceremony was instituted in 2012 by Vishnuvardhan Induri, the founder of Celebrity Cricket League. Local Event Partner for SIIMA 2013 in UAE is Anjan Star Events. The Awards are presented in separate parts on two different days. On the first day the most promising upcoming South Indian film artistes are honoured at the Generation Next Awards, while the second day is reserved for the main SIIMA Awards. The Award nominees are selected by a jury of senior artistes and professionals and voted for by public polling. The first SIIMA ceremony was held on 21 & 22 June 2012 at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Doctor Siddharth, the present Governor of Tamil Nadu, launched the third FICCI Media Entertainment Business Conclave (MEBC) with a call for a joint and concerted effort of all spheres to make the South Indian film industry on par with international standards. During this event, a decision was taken to promote the South Indian film industry on a global scale and to attract the untapped potential of overseas film goers. The presentation should reflect the growing importance of South Indian cinema as a key world market.

Filmfare Awards South

Filmfare Awards South is the South Indian segment of the annual Filmfare Awards, presented by The Times Group to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the South Indian film industry. The awards were introduced in 1954, around the films released in 1953. In the same year as the original Filmfare Awards and National Film Awards, initially recognizing the Tamil and Telugu film industries. The inclusion of Malayalam cinema in the awards came in 1967 while Kannada cinema was recognized in 1970. Each industry is given is own set of creative awards in annual ceremonies that have predominantly been held in Chennai and Hyderabad.

Unlike the National Film Awards, which are decided by a panel appointed by Government of India, the Filmfare Awards South are voted for by both the public and a committee of experts. The Filmfare Awards has been referred to as India's equivalent to the Academy Awards for its ostentatious ceremonies and media coverage, although the National Film Awards is more commonly given this distinction for its critical rigour and pan-Indian appeal.

The Filmfare Awards are presented annually by The Times Group to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Hindi language film industry of India. The Filmfare ceremony is one of the oldest film events in India. The awards were first introduced in 1954, the same year as the National Film Awards. They were initially referred to as the Clare Awards or The Clares after Clare Mendonca, the editor of The Times of India. A dual voting system was developed in 1956. Under this system, "in contrast to the National Film Awards, which are decided by a panel appointed by Indian Government, the Filmfare Awards are voted by both the public and a committee of experts." The Filmfare Awards have been often referred to as the Hindi film industry's equivalent to The Oscars.

History

The Filmfare awards were first introduced in 1954. The Clares was the original name of the award ceremony, named after The Times of India critic Clare Mendonca. Readers of Filmfare were polled to decide the winners, and over 20,000 readers spread throughout India participated in the polls; trophies were given to winners of the popular vote. In the first awards function, held on 21 March 1954 at the Metro Theatre of Mumbai, only five awards were presented: Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Music Director. Do Bigha Zameen was the first movie to win the award for Best Film. The first winners for other four categories were: Bimal Roy for his direction of Do Bigha Zameen, Dilip Kumar for his performance in Daag, Meena Kumari for her performance in Baiju Bawra, and Naushad Ali for his music in Baiju Bawra.
