Tenebrae (Latin for "shadows" or "darkness") is a Christian religious service celebrated in the Holy Week within Western Christianity, on the evening before or early morning of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday. Tenebrae is distinctive for its gradual extinguishing of candles while a series of readings and psalms is chanted or recited.
The Roman rite of Tenebrae was widely observed in the Catholic Church, until liturgical reforms in the second half of the 20th century diminished the practice. Tenebrae liturgy traditions also exist in Anglicanism, Protestantism, and Western Rite Orthodoxy.
In the Roman Catholic Church, "tenebrae" is the name given to the celebration, with special ceremonies, of Matins and Lauds, the first two hours of the Divine Office, of the last three days of Holy Week. The traditions regarding this service go back at least to the ninth century. Originally celebrated after midnight, by the late Middle Ages their celebration was anticipated on the afternoon or evening of the preceding day in most places.
Dario Argento (Italian: [ˈdaːrjo arˈdʒɛnto]; born 7 September 1940) is an Italian film director, producer and screenwriter. He is best known for his work in the horror film genre, particularly in the subgenre known as giallo, and for his influence on modern horror movies.
Argento was born in Rome, the son of film producer and executive Salvatore Argento and Brazilian-born photographer Elda Luxardo. He began his career in film as a critic, writing for various magazines while still attending high school.
Argento did not attend college, electing rather to take a job as a columnist at the newspaper Paese Sera. While working at the newspaper, Argento also began working as a screenwriter. His most notable work was for Sergio Leone; he and Bernardo Bertolucci collaborated on the story for the spaghetti western classic Once Upon a Time in the West. Soon after that film's 1969 release, Argento began working on his directorial debut, the giallo film The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, which was released in 1970 and was a major hit in Italy. Argento continued to concentrate largely on the giallo genre, directing two more successful thrillers, The Cat o' Nine Tails (1971) and Four Flies on Grey Velvet (1972). Along with The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, these three films are frequently referred to as Argento's "animal trilogy". The director then turned his attention away from giallo movies, filming two Italian TV dramas and a period comedy (The Five Days) in 1973. Argento returned to thrillers with 1975's Deep Red, frequently cited by many critics as the best giallo ever made. The film made Argento famous internationally and inspired a number of other directors to work in the genre (John Carpenter has frequently referred to the influence Argento's early work had on Halloween).
Claudio Simonetti (born February 19, 1952 in São Paulo) is a Brazil-born Italian composer who has specialized in the scores for Italian and American horror films since the 1970s. He studied at the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome.
The son of composer and entertainer Enrico, Simonetti was the keyboard player for the Italian progressive rock band Goblin, which initially formed under the name Cherry Five. He has been influenced by Keith Emerson, Brian Auger, Rick Wakeman and Tony Banks.
Simonetti is probably best known for his electronic score to the George A. Romero classic Dawn of the Dead, but is also highly regarded for his work on the films of Italian horror maestro Dario Argento, with whom he has worked almost exclusively since 1975. Goblin's score to his 1975 film Profondo rosso was one of the highest-selling horror movie soundtracks ever produced. When Goblin disbanded in 1979, Claudio began his solo career as an electronic musician but continued to score Argento's films, including Tenebrae (1982), Demons (1985), Opera (1987), The Card Player (2004) and Dracula 3D (2012). However, the band reunited in 2000 to score the Argento film Sleepless and received outstanding critical acclaim.
Fabio Pignatelli is an Italian musician. He was the bass guitar player for the Italian progressive rock band Goblin. Goblin provided soundtracks for several horror films, most famously Dario Argento's Suspiria (1977) and George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead (1978). The band was largely defunct by 1979, but Pignatelli kept the group together, as well as holding onto the name, and the group continued well into the 1990s, with its main lineup restored briefly in 2000. Because of Pignatelli's operation of a band with the name, they were credited as Simonetti-Pignatelli-Morante for the film, Tenebrae, because the other band members (most importantly, Maurizio Guarini and Carlo Pennisi), most of whom had not worked with Simonetti or Morante, were not involved.
In 2013 he played bass guitar on "Backlit" track from Simulakrum Lab album, vintage synhesizers music project created by Paolo Prevosto.
Massimo Morante is an Italian musician. He is the guitar player for the Italian progressive rock band Goblin. Goblin provided soundtracks for several horror films, including Dario Argento's Deep Red (1975) and Suspiria (1977), and George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead (1978).

With Argento's trademark visual style, linked with one of his more coherent plots, Tenebrae follows a writer who arrives to Rome only to find somebody is using his novels as the inspiration (and, occasionally, the means) of committing murder. As the death toll mounts the police are ever baffled, and the writer becomes more closely linked to the case than is comfortable.

Like the bleeding of your zodiac sign
The road to hell's gonna blow your mind
Golden tounged devil licking down your spine
Kiss the reaper, turn your blood to wine
Clandestine dreams of smoke prevail
Demon mandarins laughing exhale
Fields of green stars for sale
In Xanadu the truth wears a tail
The brass horns from the head of my Black brother
Suicide I'll abide, take it slow O White mother
I won't dream again until again I dream with you
Draw the line you'll be fine in the halls of Xanadu
Leave me alone
I'm a Juju
I'm on my own
I've got voodoo
