Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia (1431--1476), also known by his patronymic name Dracula (son of the Dragon, after his father Vlad II Dracul), and posthumously dubbed Vlad the Impaler (Romanian: Vlad Țepeș pronounced [ˈvlad ˈt͡sepeʃ]), was a three-time Voivode of Wallachia, ruling mainly from 1456 to 1462, the period of the incipient Ottoman conquest of the Balkans.
Vlad III is remembered for spending much of his rule campaigning efforts against the Ottoman Empire and its expansion and for the impaling of enemies. Already during his lifetime, his reputation of excessive cruelty spread abroad, to Germany and elsewhere in Europe. The total number of his victims is estimated in the tens of thousands. The name of the vampire Count Dracula in Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula was inspired by Vlad's patronymic.
The tragic love relationship between Vlad and an unnamed bald man hinted at in this video is pure speculation and not based on any historical evidence. :P

Originally released in 2001 with the legendary Mille Plateaux label, Vladislav Delay's Anima marked a shift for the noted electronic whiz kid with the many monikers. Gone, in large part, were the well choreographed, sequencer-led compositions of old, replaced by live instruments, long takes, and a minimum of post-production and overdubs.
"Melody and rhythm are sometimes more implied than expressed, allowing for your brain to fill in the blanks, and at other times coalesce effortlessly, flawlessly and gracefully all on their own. Stagnation is the enemy as a few notes of wash background are about the only element allowed to loop for any great length of time. The piece ends by gradually, almost unwillingly, dissolving and fading away finally concluding with a crash and sampled dialogue … “I might never go to sleep again, I might stay awake forever!” Absolutely gorgeous. Vladislav (Belarusian: Уладзіслаў (Uladzislaŭ); Polish: Władysław, Włodzisław; Russian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Serbian: Владислав; Ukrainian: Владислав (Vladyslav)) is a Slavic male given name, sometimes confused with/treated as the same as Ladislav. It is traditionally Latinized as either Vladislaus or (erroneously) Ladislaus, or sometimes Vladislas. Feminine form is Vladislava/Władysława.
In Russia it is often shortened either to Vlad (Влад) or Slava (Слава).
Origin

What We Do
What We Do is a the second studio album by jazz group The John Scofield Quartet. It was recorded in May 1992 and released the followong year on Blue Note Records. Besides John Scofield on guitar the quartet features saxophonist Joe Lovano, Bill Stewart on drums and Dennis Irwin on bass replacing Marc Johnson. Irwin and Scofield (both born in 1951) had already recorded together in the mid-1980s with Bennie Wallace on a track for his album Sweeping Through the City. Irwin would be the bassist on two more albums by Scofield, Hand Jive (1994) and Groove Elation (1995).

Vladislav Delay
Vladislav Delay is the most frequently used pseudonym of Sasu Ripatti (born 1976), a Finnish electronic musician. He has also recorded as Luomo, Sistol, Uusitalo, Conoco, and Ripatti.
Background
Ripatti has been involved in the ambient music, glitch, house, and techno genres. His method of track production involves a mixture of synthesizing, vocal recording and live reprocessing. Many tracks have an organic feeling, conjured through rolling, dubby basslines and processed vocal snippets, often from his partner Antye Greie. Their daughter was born in 2006.
Ripatti has released EPs and albums on numerous underground electronic labels, including Raster-Noton, Force Tracks, Chain Reaction, Mille Plateaux, Resopal, and Sigma Editions. He also founded the Finnish music label Huume Recordings and currently runs a label called Ripatti, on which he has released the album Visa and several footwork-oriented singles under the name Ripatti.
Ripatti played drums and percussion in the Moritz von Oswald Trio alongside Moritz von Oswald and Max Loderbauer from 2009 until 2015, when he was replaced by Tony Allen. With the Moritz von Oswald Trio he has released two albums and a live LP. He has also released an album in 2011 with his own experimental jazz/electronic group, the Vladislav Delay Quartet.

Gone, in large part, were the well choreographed, sequencer-led compositions of old, replaced by live instruments, long takes, and a minimum of post-production and overdubs.
"Melody and rhythm are sometimes more implied than expressed, allowing for your brain to fill in the blanks, and at other times coalesce effortlessly, flawlessly and gracefully all on their own. Stagnation is the enemy as a few notes of wash background are about the only element allowed to loop for any great length of time. The piece ends by gradually, almost unwillingly, dissolving and fading away finally concluding with a crash and sampled dialogue … “I might never go to sleep again, I might stay awake forever!” Absolutely gorgeous.
