Beijing is the capital of the People's Republic of China and one of the most populous cities in the world.
Its total population in 2013 was 21,150,000. The city proper is the 2nd most populous in the world. The metropolis, located in northern China, is governed as a direct-controlled municipality under the national government with 16 urban, suburban, and rural districts. Beijing Municipality is surrounded by Hebei Province with the exception of neighboring Tianjin Municipality to the southeast; together the three divisions form the Jingjinji metropolitan region and the national capital region of China.
Beijing is the second largest Chinese city by urban population after Shanghai and is the nation's political, cultural and educational center. It is home to the headquarters of most of China's largest state-owned companies, and is a major hub for the national highway, expressway, railway, and high-speed rail networks. The Beijing Capital International Airport is the second busiest in the world by passenger traffic.
China, officially the People's Republic of China (PRC), is a sovereign state in East Asia. It is the world's most populous country, with a population of over 1.35 billion. The PRC is a one-party state governed by the Communist Party, with its seat of government in the capital city of Beijing. It exercises jurisdiction over 22 provinces; five autonomous regions; four direct-controlled municipalities (Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing); two mostly self-governing special administrative regions (Hong Kong and Macau); and claims sovereignty over Taiwan.
Covering approximately 9.6 million square kilometers, China is the world's second-largest country by land area, and either the third or fourth-largest by total area, depending on the method of measurement. China's landscape is vast and diverse, ranging from forest steppes and the Gobi and Taklamakan deserts in the arid north to subtropical forests in the wetter south. The Himalaya, Karakoram, Pamir and Tian Shan mountain ranges separate China from South and Central Asia. The Yangtze and Yellow Rivers, the third- and sixth-longest in the world, run from the Tibetan Plateau to the densely populated eastern seaboard. China's coastline along the Pacific Ocean is 14,500 kilometres (9,000 mi) long, and is bounded by the Bohai, Yellow, East and South China Seas.
Compared with China’s other megacities, Beijing is still a traditionalist at heart, so delve into the shops, galleries and restaurants in the city’s old, alleyway-threaded hutong neighborhoods. This is the official promotion video of Beijing filmed by the Beijing Ministry of Tourism. If you haven't been to Beijing, it will offer a glimpse of what's Beijing like. The video covers all the major scenic spots in Beijing, the Great Wall of China, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace, Hutong, Nanluoguxiang, 798 Art Zone, Temple of Heaven and Ming Tombs. It also shows the differences between the Old Beijing and Modern Beijing, the lives of the local people, as well as the Beijing during big holidays like the Spring Festival.
The Chinese is one of the worlds oldest civilizations. The capital, Beijing with its 11 million inhabitants is now a modern city with skyscrapers, highways and shopping malls. Its several ancient monuments are all oases of silence. The Tien’anmen square is possibly the largest and most famous square of the world. The former imperial palace, surrounded by wall was called ‘the forbidden city’ because a commoner could not enter here. At least that beautiful is the Summer Palace and the Temple of Heaven, where pieces from the ancient artist await the visitors. When in Beijing, one must not forget the Buddhist temples, and the zoo, where the very rare panda bears are living. Let us not forget about the gastronomical part of China, since the country’s cuisine is one of the best on Earth. From Be...

Seat of supreme power for over five centuries (1420-1911), the Forbidden City in Beijing, with its landscaped gardens and many buildings, constitutes a priceless testimony to Chinese civilization during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
He An named the seven exhibition works as “Preface – Night or with Its Daytime – He Taoyuan – EVA00 Prototype – Armenia – Bride – Love Child”. Each word lost the relationship between its signifier and signified to form another narrative, as being a rhetorical device together creating a fiction novel or drama. The fiction and the reality stimulate, extrude and play with each other, mutually and in parallel, acquiring the same tension and the same presence. He An used the relationships between texts and rhetoric, rhetoric and time, and time and legend, to establish a magical realistic two-dimensional world. A kind of new potential language has been developed here. A timeline is being cut off and unfolded in a new context. The past, present and future exist within the same horizont. He An ha...
